Chapter 146

Chapter 146
Chapter 146 - Victory At Last

Veronica wailed helplessly as the thought of her only daughter being killed filled her heart.

“Who could have done this?” Beck questioned himself, as he tried to console his wife.

“Please don't cry. We'll find her.” He tried to be strong for both of them.

“Please take her inside.” He said to Veronica’s maids.

“I'm not going anywhere until my daughter is found.” Veronica protested, crying profusely.

“Please just calm down and stay inside. We'll find her. I promise.” He tried to appease her, fighting his tears at the same time.

“I shouldn't have left her alone. I shouldn't have taken my eyes off her.” Veronica blamed herself for what had happened as she was taken back into the palace, even though she struggled with the maids, who tried to take her in.

Minutes rolled into hours, hours rolled into days and days rolled into weeks. Before they knew it, it had been one month since Miley was kidnapped on her birthday, right under their watch, and they were yet to find her.

Beck was broken as the possibility that he probably would no longer see his precious daughter again, dawned on him. As much as he felt heartbroken, he really wanted to be there for Veronica, making sure that she didn't slip into depression because of the kidnap of their precious daughter.

One month after the incident, a mysterious old woman came to the pack, requesting to see the Alpha and the Luna.

“An old woman? Who is she?” Beck, who was seated in his throne room with Veronica, asked the guards, but they had no idea who the woman was.

“We don't know where she came from either. She just said she wanted to see the Alpha and Luna.” They informed Beck.

“Let her in.” Beck said to the guard, who immediately left, and Veronica shot him a stare.

“You never can tell who it might be.” He said in his defense. "Maybe she has information on the whereabouts of our daughter. We have to be very vigilant and keep our options open." He added and she sighed.

Soon, the guard came in with the woman, bent over, with a hood over her head.

“Hello Alpha.” The woman said, but Veronica couldn't explain how she suddenly began to feel about the strange woman.

“Hello Luna. How is your daughter?” The strange woman asked, her tone filled with mockery, to the shock of Beck and Veronica.

She then suddenly flipped her hood, revealing a burn scar on her face, and Veronica couldn't control herself anymore.

Upon seeing the mysterious woman’s face, some memories of the past began to flash before Veronica's very eyes and before Beck could say a word, Veronica charged at the woman with full force. Her aim was to knock her out or, if possible, kill her, but the woman was fast enough to dodge all the attacks, transforming into someone else.

Shocked and dumbfounded by what was happening, Beck sprung to his feet.

“Vee, what has she done to you? Do you know her?” He asked, trying to stop his Luna, but she didn't answer him.

Veronica got frustrated and started using her powers on her, but the woman was good and swift enough to block every hit.

Beck tried to stop Veronica, but she dodged him, not letting him get the chance to stop her. The woman also didn't back down, and kept attacking Veronica too, but Veronica was also quick and powerful enough to block it without getting hurt.

They fought and fought, and it went on like that for about thirty more minutes before Veronica was finally held down by Beck.

“Woman! What is your mission? Who are you? And why is she trying to kill you all of a sudden?” Beck yelled wildly at the strange woman.

The woman laughed scornfully. “You don't know me?” She laughed again.

“If I knew you, would I be asking you?” Beck was getting offended, because he was using all his might to hold Veronica in one position, and he knew it was only a matter of minutes before she slipped out of his grip.

“Well, I am CATERINA, THE STRONGEST SORCERESS ALIVE!” She screamed with all her might, and as she screamed, the atmosphere gave way, and it suddenly became as dark as night.

“It's obvious she knows me, that's why she is trying to kill me.” She said, her voice echoing through the shadows as she laughed mockingly again.

“I kidnapped her when she was just a baby, because I knew she had great powers and I wanted to use those powers for my benefit, especially after all her father did to me.” She revealed, and Beck's jaw dropped.

“You betrayer! You bastard!” Veronica charged at her again, but she dodged it yet again.

“You cheated on him. Not once, but twice! You are such a fool to think he'll marry you.” Veronica replied angrily.

“At least I apologized, didn't I?” She spat. “But he still didn't want me. He treated me like trash.” Caterina snapped at her.

“That's because you were trash! And you're still trash!” Veronica spat with disgust.

“Watch your mouth!” She snapped at Veronica, her eyes gleaming with fury, but Veronica wasn't ready to back down.

“You were lucky to have been able to escape when you were eight, after you burnt my face.” The woman said with a bitter frown.

“That's because that was what you deserved back then. I'll do it again if I have the chance to do so.” Veronica said proudly.

The woman scoffed. “You know, I looked everywhere for you, but couldn't find you until the twins’ second birthday, when I disguised myself as a maid and kidnapped Miley. Wasn't that such a perfect work?” She laughed loudly and Beck couldn't believe his ears.

“I was angry that you, Veronica, had now found out the real truth behind who you really are, and everything that happened to you. And to make matters worse, you have found your family, and you now think you can be happy with your new life.”

“I will never let you be happy after how your father treated me, and after you burnt my face the day you escaped. Do you know how long it took me to search for a cure for my face, but all to no avail?” She screamed bitterly.

“But since I couldn't get you, and you were so lucky to escape. I'm afraid your daughter won't be so lucky.” She made a mocking face.

As she spoke, Veronica got more enraged and burst out in white light, her hair turned pure silvery white, and her eyes turned pure white.

She began to float in the air, and everyone moved far away from her. She went straight to Caterina, who was shocked, and was trying to run away.

She immediately grabbed her by the neck and asked her where her daughter was. Caterina said nothing, but laughed loudly. She then used her magic to hit Veronica, causing her to move back, letting Caterina's neck slip out of her hands.

Beck tried to fight the sorceress, but she flung him roughly to the side.

“This is not your fight!” She yelled at him, laughing as he winced in pain.

“Take your filthy hands off my family!” Veronica faced her again, and another round of fight then began. The two fought inside the throne room before taking it outside, destroying many things as the fight persisted.

Veronica took hold of Caterina's neck again, and this time, she brought Caterina's head close to hers. She closed her eyes, and began to mutter some words just like her mother taught her a few years ago.

White flames suddenly burst out, and Caterina began to scream in pain, feeling choked.

Veronica then lifted her up, staring coldly into her eyes, as if she were staring into her soul for answers, before dropping her lifeless body to the ground.

As Caterina's body dropped to the ground, light was restored to the pack, and the darkness disappeared. Caterina's body also disappeared like dust.

Veronica turned to look at her husband, who was staring at her with a mixture of adoration and shock in his eyes. She then walked up to him, and kissed him on his forehead.

“I'll be back.” She said, and before he could stop her, she ran off into the woods.

About thirty minutes later, she was back with Miley, who was sleeping soundly in her arms.

Beck’s joy knew no bounds and that night, they celebrated the return of their daughter. And also celebrated their victory over the sorceress who turned Veronica's life upside down.

They then lived in peace and harmony, ruling their pack with wisdom and protecting their people with courage. With Beck, who had now become a fearless Alpha, and Veronica as the powerful Luna, their joint leadership was a force to be reckoned with, and none dared to challenge or contend with them.

THE END.
