Chapter 27: The research list
After arranging the gaming equipment neatly on the table in her bedroom, Myra went downstairs to accompany her grandma. She was in a good mood, so her steps were light. Even her grandma could outright tell that she was in a good mood. She flashed a smile at her granddaughter and called out;
"Darling, come and sit with grandma."
Myra went over and sat down next to her grandma, who immediately held her hand and started talking nonstop. There was no ounce of impatience on Myra's face. Rather, she felt quite comfortable and warm. These were the people who genuinely loved her. She didn't mind spending more time with them. She hadn't spent lots of time with her parents, and that's what made her regret the most. She shouldn't have been too busy to spend more time with her parents. It was too late now, and she couldn't only compensate by spending enough time with her grandparents. From time to time, Myra would pour water for her grandma to drink to moisten her throat. After all, she was talking for so long, and Myra didn't want her throat to become dry and hurt her.
From time to time, laughter could be felt in the living room, and Masha could tell who that was. This ticked her off. Why could Myra get happiness without working for it while she had to work every day to please her grandparents? What right did Myra have? As she thought about this, she temporarily put a hold on her plan to go to the living room to have a chat with her grandma. She would definitely look like a clown if she went over at such a time. All thanks to Myra. She would definitely get back at her someday.
After making sure her grandma went to sleep, Myra made her way to her own room to sleep. She first went to take a shower before she came to check out the gaming equipment. To her expectations, the processing power was so fast and accurate, and Myra couldn't help but play even more. The more she did, the more she leveled up.
On the gaming discussion site, exclamations kept on piling on computer screens.
"OMG, did M.A. go on a rampage today?"
"Seems like it. "
"Hey, do you guys think it's a man or a woman?"
Everyone had different thoughts on this. Some speculated that it was a man, while others speculated that it was a woman. M.A. was the mysterious gaming god who had never revealed anything about themselves. Not even their voice. The person was just too mysterious. He/she only came online whenever they felt like it. This just added to their mystery.
After playing for God-knows-how-long, Myra yawned and went to sleep. She knew she would get an earful from her grandma if she discovered that Myra had played games despite her injured hands. She didn't want to worry her grandma. She just wanted to try out the gaming computer. She didn't expect to become addicted after a round of it. She felt a little guilty she instantly went to sleep. She didn't even hear her phone ring.
Reese smiled when he thought about the possibility that she must have fallen asleep. His eyes flashed with a hint of gentleness that even he himself didn't notice. It was good that she could rest. He could tell that she had been too stressed recently, and he only felt a bit at ease to see that she had slept. He could just call her back later. With this thought in mind, Reese also tried to get some sleep. He was insomniac, so he could only go back to work after several futile attempts to sleep.
At night, Masha was chatting with a senior of hers from the university. They talked about a lot of things related to research. Masha could tell that the senior was interested in her, but he wasn't her type, however, she didn't want to turn him down yet, considering he had been helping her with a lot of stuff to do with research. She had been benefiting from him for free, and she didn't want to let him go yet. But she knew she would never date him. Was he even worthy?
"Or right, senior, is the list out yet?" Masha suddenly asked. She was asking about the research list. The people who had registered. She wanted to show off to her grandparents and Myra later. So what if Myra had good looks? She had the brains.
"It did. Do you want me to send it to you?" The senior asked gently.
"Yes, thank you." Masha said. After a few more minutes of chatting, she hung up the call and went to check the list he had sent her. As her eyes scanned through the list, they couldn't help but widen when she saw a specific name on the list.
