Chapter 22: Lana's call

Chapter 22: Lana's call

Myra glanced at the maid in exasperation when she heard why she was there. Her grandparents had sent her to help Myra with her shower. Myra's arm was in a plaster, so they were worried that it would come into contact with water, which would be bad for her health.
"Are you... sure?" The maid asked again. She was uncertain. She had been tasked with that, and she couldn't let the master and mistress down.
"I'm sure. If you doubt, you can stay here and wait for me until I'm done, then just say you helped me later, okay?" Myra could only come up with that solution. There's no way she would allow someone to bathe her. At her age, how could she bear to do that? Just thinking about it made her feel embarrassed. She was sure she wouldn't be able to face the world if such a thing happened.
She could see the laid struggling. After all, how could the maid lie to her grandparents? She was loyal and honest, so it was a bit difficult for her to come up with that lie. What if they saw through her and fired her because of it?
"Don't worry, I got you." Myra patted the maid on the shoulder and said with a smile. Of course, she was well aware of why the maid was struggling.
For some reason, when the maid saw Myra's smile, she instantly calmed down and nodded at her. Myra also headed to the bathroom. She was starving, and she just wanted to take a quick shower before going downstairs to eat.

Ever since Lana's father became alpha, she had become even more tyrannical. Her bullying had improved to a higher notch. It was as if she was declaring that power was everything. After having lunch, Myra was walking in the courtyard when she received a call. She frowned. She had changed her phone number so she didn't understand who else would have her except Reese and her grandparents. After contemplating for a while, she decided to pick it up.
"Hello." Myra said, with some bit of uncertainty.
"Yoh. How does I feel to fall from grace? I'm telling you, you can't surpass me now. You are just a mere omega. In fact, I should thank the heavens for making your parents disappear. Otherwise, when would I have gotten the opportunity to flaunt my power?" As she was still rambling on, Myra hung up the call and immediately blacklisted the number. Lana, who was on the other end of the phone, was shocked to find that the call was hung up. When she tried calling again, she realized that she had been blocked. She was so angry that she smashed her phone on the wall. How dare Myra, that wolfless girl, behave impudently before her? She should know her place ! Lana vowed to exert her revenge when she met Myra. She would make her understand that she was nothing but an omega, who would forever grovel under her feet and serve her, the future luna.

After receiving Lana's call, Myra's mood suddenly plummeted. All the good energy she had was sucked away immediately. She wasn't in the mood to continue walking around the courtyard, and so, with a heavy heart, she made her way back to the mansion. Her grandparents were sitting in the living room.
"Darling, do you want to watch with us?" Her grandma called out.
"Not for now. I suddenly feel sleepy. It must be the medicine. " Myra feigned a yawn and said.
"Oh, right. Don't tire yourself out, go and sleep. We'll watch together later." Her grandma shooed her away. Her health came first.
"Okay." Myra nodded and headed upstairs. Her back looked lonely and desolate. Her grandma narrowed her eyes as she watched Myra go ahead to her bedroom to sleep.
"Something is off about her mood." The old lady told the old man.
"You're right." The old man nodded. He had also noticed that. He just didn't want to pry.
The two old people in the living room were worried. They didn't know what had suddenly happened. They had just had lunch together a few minutes ago.

As soon as Myra entered her bedroom, she took out her phone and went to the gallery. All the pictures in there were of her with her parents, and each of them had a smile on their faces. What had once been a happy family had suddenly been separated by some unknown circumstances. Now, in that picture, she was the only person alive at that moment. She felt a lump in her throat. The truth was, even though Myra behaved like nothing was wrong, only she knew how much she tried numbing herself and trying not to think about her parents. She did that so she wouldn't break down and make her grandpa and grandma worry for her. No one knew how hard it was for her to pretend that all was okay. Lana's words definitely triggered the emotions she had hidden quite well.
"Mommy, Daddy, where on earth are you guys?" She said this and sighed sadly. She couldn't hold on and immediately broke down.
