Chapter 195: Analysis
Chapter 195: Analysis
Aviah's POV
After the performance ended, I stood at the entrance of Black Cat Pub, listening to Scott's compliments and feeling a little proud of myself.
Out of the corner of my eye, I vaguely noticed someone watching me. I turned my head, only to see a car driving away.
I shook my head and listened as Scott said to me, "Don't worry, I'll definitely promote you well and make you a big star."
"Thank you, thank you."
After saying goodbye to Scott, I got in my car and headed home.
What I didn't expect was that the car broke down halfway.
I hesitated about whether to call Griffin for help, but if he asked questions, how would I answer?
While I was still undecided, a car slowly pulled up beside me.
"Miss, our boss would like to see you."
I stared at him and slowly backed away. "Who's your boss?"
He opened the door and got out. "Miss, please don't make pointless resistance."
I turned and ran, but unfortunately, I didn't get far before he grabbed me and pulled me into the car.
I struggled desperately, trying to send Griffin a message, but faster than me was a sack.
As my head was covered and my phone was taken away, I completely gave up and silently prayed that Griffin would discover I'd been kidnapped soon.
When light appeared before my eyes again, I was already in a room, my hands tied to a chair. On the small table in front of me were my phone and mask.
And the man before me made me forget to resist.
It was Cooper.
"It's you?"
Cooper shrugged. "Obviously."
"Why did you kidnap me?"
"Nothing much, just wanted to give you a ride on my way."
I stared at him. "You sure about that?"
Cooper smiled mysteriously. "Just a little joke, don't make a big deal of it. You can leave now. Your car - I had someone fix it for you. It's in the yard, you can drive it away yourself."
With that, he untied the rope binding me and turned to leave.
I watched his back, feeling completely confused. I had originally thought he kidnapped me to threaten Griffin, or even that he wanted to rape me.
I didn't expect him to just let me go like this?
Cooper was so strange.
Really hard to figure out.
But I didn't dwell on it too much. Instead, I took the elevator down to the first floor as fast as possible, ran to the yard, got in my car and left.
After leaving the villa, my racing heart gradually calmed down.
When I got home, I checked my phone. I didn't know what Griffin was busy with - he hadn't sent me any messages all day.
I went to check on Ethan's room. Ethan and Diane were still awake.
"Mommy, why are you home so early today? Did you have a fight with Daddy?"
Hearing Diane's voice, my face turned red. I really hadn't been spending much time with the kids lately.
"Babies, want to watch a movie together?"
Hearing this, Ethan and Diane got obviously excited.
Seeing them like this, I felt even more guilty about neglecting Ethan and Diane's feelings. I put the disc in the DVD player, and as the movie started playing, the three of us lay on the couch.
Before long, Diane fell asleep leaning against my leg.
I covered her with a blanket and continued watching with Ethan, though I wasn't really paying attention. My mind was still thinking about Cooper's intentions.
My distraction must have been too obvious, because Ethan questioned me. "Mommy, is something wrong? Tell me, maybe I can help you think of a solution."
I instinctively shook my head, but then I thought about how he was indeed much smarter than other kids his age, plus seeing his pitiful look at not being able to help me, my heart softened.
I held him in my arms and quietly told him roughly what had happened that day. About Cooper, I only said he took off my mask and confirmed my identity, then helped fix my car for the sake of the cooperation with Skyline Group.
"Mommy, is there some connection between Scott and Cooper?"
"You're so smart. They're half-brothers."
Ethan fell into thought. I didn't interrupt him, just smiled at myself mockingly. After all, how could he possibly figure out what others were thinking?
He was just a child.
I was about to pick up Diane and put her to bed when Ethan spoke up. "Mommy, if I'm not wrong, I'm afraid Cooper is planning to sabotage the cooperation with Skyline Group."
"What?" I froze mid-movement, then sat back down on the couch, waiting for Ethan's explanation.
"Mommy, based on what you told me and some things I know myself, I can deduce some things. Scott is backed by the Allen family, yet he's working so far from home. He has two identities - appraiser and investment partner in Black Cat Pub. But honestly, for a big family like the Allen family, both these identities are too low-level, not fitting for an Allen family descendant."
"Plus, we haven't seen Scott go home or heard him mention family matters. Normally, this doesn't make sense. Which means Scott isn't favored in the Allen family."
"Combined with what you said earlier about Scott and Cooper being half-brothers, the reason Scott is like this is simple - he and Cooper don't get along, and their conflict is probably over the family fortune."
"If I remember correctly, you had Cameron and the others go to Black Cat Pub to help Scott as servers. I suspect Cooper might have been targeting him behind the scenes."
"Analyzing all these situations, I suspect that when your car broke down on the way home, someone did it on purpose."
I stared at him. "On purpose?"
Ethan nodded firmly. "I suspect Cooper knew you were helping Scott, so he sabotaged your car to confirm your identity. After confirming who you were, he thought about a lot of things."
"Their father isn't dead yet. Cooper is suppressing Scott like this probably to show his abilities, so his father will pass the family head position to him."
"But after he confirmed your identity, things got complicated. Normally, he's not afraid of you - he's afraid of Daddy. Daddy has the ability, and once Scott gets to know Daddy through you, that would be a fatal blow to Cooper. And then, their father might choose a different heir based on this. After all, being connected to Daddy is no small matter."
"But Cooper is smart. He knows he can't hurt you, or Daddy will get angry. So I'm guessing he'll probably make his move during this cooperation, causing Skyline Group's reputation to decline, and then others will see the opportunity and attack again."
After Ethan's analysis, I suddenly understood, and my heart rose to my throat again.
Because tomorrow was the delivery day.
