Chapter 192: Skylar

Chapter 192: Skylar

Aviah's POV

Suddenly, my phone vibrated.

I swiped open the screen. The top entertainment news headline caught my eye: "Mystery Singer in Silver Mask Stuns Lakeview - Who is Skylar?"

I clicked on the video. The stage at Black Cat Pub appeared, the silver mask reflecting cold light under the spotlights. I was dancing, my voice cutting through the screen.

The comments section was refreshing so fast I could barely read the text.

"That voice is incredible! Even better than the original!"

"The mask is so mysterious, please reveal her real identity!"

"Already listened a hundred times, Skylar needs to hold a concert!"

My finger scrolled across the screen. The view count had a string of zeros after it. The hashtag #Skylar# was firmly sitting at the top of Lakeview's trending list.

At the same time, a message from Scott came through.

When I'd exchanged contact information with him, I'd used a different account, so Scott had no idea that Skylar was me.

"Did you see the news? The response is great. I want to set up a live performance for you at Black Cat Pub, starting in three days. Are you interested?"

I knew he wanted to use this opportunity to boost Black Cat Pub's reputation.

But for both of us, it was definitely a win-win situation.

I didn't hesitate and agreed.

Griffin's head leaned closer. I quickly moved my phone screen to my lap to keep him from seeing it.

Seeing his curious look, I explained, "It's a secret. I can't tell you right now, but I promise it's definitely not anything that betrays you."

Griffin reached out, his large hand landing on top of my head, gently stroking it like petting a dog.

"Of course I trust you. I'm just worried about your safety. I never worry about you betraying me."

I pouted, lowering my head slightly, not daring to look at him. My face felt hot and flushed.

Early morning.

The doctor came out of the operating room and told me tiredly that the treatment was successful. Mason's body was fine now. It just depended on when he would wake up. Only after he woke up could they see if there were any other problems.

I wanted to stay and take care of him, but Griffin had arranged for someone to take me home.

Scarlett's POV

Skylar's performance video was playing on my phone screen. My fingers gripped the sofa armrest tightly, my knuckles losing all color. The figure in the video, that voice - I knew them too well. It was Aviah.

As her former best friend and current enemy, no one knew her better than I did.

She was just innocent and naive, not a waste. On the contrary, God had given her a privileged background, a perfect appearance and body, and even a voice that seemed kissed by God himself.

God really played favorites, giving her so many things.

Jealousy wrapped around my heart like poisonous vines, tightening more and more.

I picked up my phone and called Chloe. "Skylar is Aviah. Now that she's famous, she'll definitely start performing soon. She won't miss this chance. Help me ruin this. I'm being watched by Griffin right now and can't make any moves."

Silence fell on the other end of the line.

Chloe didn't respond for a long time. I lost my patience. "Chloe, the moment you chose to work with me, you should have understood - once some things start, there's no going back."

The voice on the other end was clearly surprised. "How did you know it was me?"

I looked out the window, my voice revealing satisfaction. "Do you think I wouldn't be careful about people appearing around me right now? You said you had feelings for Griffin and wanted to stay by his side."

I paused, giving Chloe time to process. "There aren't many women who can stay close to Griffin. Plus, you could message me right away, which proves you know some things. In other words, you were at least involved in the attack on Skyline Group."

"Putting all the signs together, your identity isn't hard to guess. After all, many people know about the Warren family's grudge with Griffin, right? And you've been inside Skyline Group for a long time."

"Griffin is coming after me. Do you think you can stay out of it?" By the end, my tone carried a threat.

Another few seconds of silence, then her response came. "Send me the time and location. I'll do it. I'm being watched too, can't move freely."

"Give me some time. I'll tell you the details tomorrow morning."

I hung up and looked at the masked Aviah in the video, a cruel smile forming on my lips.

This was exactly the result I wanted. Destroy Aviah - the bet, the fame, whatever Aviah wanted, I would destroy it all.

After handling everything, I irritably pulled off my tie, drained my wine glass in one gulp, and got up to walk toward the basement. With each click of my heels, whimpering sounds came from the basement.

I opened the door. The flashlight's beam coldly illuminated August.

Seeing him curled up in the corner, head buried in his arms, I couldn't help but laugh.

Hearing my laughter, August's trembling grew worse.

I took a whip from the cabinet by the door and walked toward him step by step. "You're not being good. Not sleeping this late means you need to be punished."

Screams filled the air.

Aviah's POV

The next day.

Hospital.

In the ward, I sat by Mason's bed, watching him lie unconscious. I talked about many things we'd experienced together as children, hoping to wake him up.

After talking for two hours, Mason still showed no response. I checked the time - I had to go to work. I had no choice but to get up and leave.

Skyline Group.

I moved into Chloe's office, officially taking over as secretary. While organizing files, I found a USB drive. Out of curiosity, I plugged it into the computer. When I saw what was inside, I was shocked.

It contained conversations between Chloe and Joseph, detailing their entire plot to steal Skyline Group's core technology.

Seeing this, my whole body shook. I could hardly believe my eyes. Chloe had been betraying Griffin all along.

No, I had to give this USB drive to Griffin.

I burst into Griffin's office. Ignoring the surprise on his face, I plugged the USB into his computer and pointed at the contents, telling him everything.

But to my surprise, Griffin didn't seem surprised at all.

He was very calm, just telling me plainly, "I know. You don't need to worry about the rest. I'll handle it."
