Chapter 184 Cooperation
Chapter 184 Cooperation
Aviah's POV
Three days later.
I drove to The Allen Villa. According to the information Griffin gave me, the Allen family had been deeply involved in the audio industry for over thirty years, and this cooperation was very important for Skyline Group's automotive project.
The Lakeview street scene flew past the car window. I took a deep breath.
This was my first time representing Griffin in a business negotiation. I couldn't mess it up.
The Allen Villa was located in Silvermoon Bay, understated yet luxurious.
The butler led me into the reception room, where a young man was sitting on the sofa watching financial news.
"Mr. Allen, hello." I extended my hand.
The man stood up and shook my hand. "Ms. Lynch, I've heard so much about you. I'm Cooper."
His palm was warm and firm, his gaze open and honest.
I breathed a sigh of relief. At least he seemed easy to work with.
The negotiation went very smoothly. Cooper's explanation of audio technology was both professional and easy to understand. We quickly reached an agreement on price and delivery schedule.
Just as we finished talking, a crisp female voice rang out.
"Cooper, do we have a guest?"
Then a sweet-looking girl walked out. Cooper smiled and introduced her to me, "My sister, Juniper."
Something stirred in me. I felt she looked somewhat like Scott.
Cooper looked between the two of us. "If you're not busy, you could chat with Juniper. She's pretty bored at home every day."
Juniper ran over and took my arm. "Aviah, you smell so nice. Chat with me for a bit, will you? I'm so bored at home. My father won't let me go out."
I smiled and readily accepted. "Okay."
Cooper shrugged. "In that case, you two chat. I have things to do, so I'll leave first."
I nodded to him. "Pleasure doing business with you."
"Pleasure doing business with you."
We two women had many topics in common. Before long, Juniper took out her phone.
"By the way, have you seen that really popular video lately?"
I watched her search for a bit. On the screen was a woman wearing a mask, singing and dancing. It had lots of likes. After all, the woman had a good figure and a decent voice, so she'd attracted many fans in a short time.
Even with the mask, I could tell it was Scarlett. Sure enough, she'd already started.
"And this one, my friend filmed it. A live performance at a bar on Dawnlight Isle. The voice is so beautiful!"
She opened the video, and an ethereal singing voice came through the speaker.
My heart jumped. That was my voice.
"How is it? Sounds good, right?" Juniper's eyes were bright. "Too bad the footage is so dark, you can't see the person at all."
I took the phone. The video was indeed pitch black, with only a bit of light around the edge of the stage. You couldn't see my face at all.
Only then did I relax. Good thing my face wasn't captured, my identity wasn't exposed.
"It does sound good." I tried to make my voice sound natural.
My bet with Scarlett required me to become a star while hiding my identity.
Now this video had gone viral, but no one knew it was me.
This was actually an opportunity.
The voice had already spread. As long as I appeared as "Skylar," paired with this voice, I'd already have a fan base.
The more I thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. This accidental exposure might actually be a good start.
"What are you so excited about?" Juniper looked at me curiously.
"Nothing." I handed the phone back to her. "This song really is beautiful."
After chatting a bit more, I got up to leave. Juniper walked me to the door, and we agreed to get together again another day.
I'd wanted to ask her about Scott, but in the end I didn't say anything. It was our first meeting, we weren't close yet. Bringing that up might make her uncomfortable.
Driving away from The Allen Villa, I was in a good mood.
The deal was done, and the video situation wasn't bad news either.
Next, it was time to officially start "Skylar's" journey to stardom.
Entering the main road, there was a red light ahead. I stepped on the brake and noticed a car accident by the roadside. A delivery motorcycle was lying on the ground, and a man was crouching beside it checking the vehicle.
On the other side, the owner of a black sedan was on the phone, speaking loudly.
"Insurance company? A delivery guy hit my car."
I was about to just drive away.
Car accidents happened every day in Lakeview. I was used to it.
But the man crouching on the ground turned his head, and his profile appeared in my line of sight.
My breathing stopped.
That face. That face.
Impossible.
I almost uncontrollably opened the car door and ran over.
"Are you okay?" I crouched down, looking at him.
The man looked up, stunned. "I'm fine."
His face.
Exactly the same.
Exactly the same as Kevin.
The same eyes and brows, the same nose, even the curve of his mouth was the same.
How was this possible? Kevin was dead.
"What's your name?" My voice was trembling.
"I," he hesitated, "I'm Mason Burke."
Mason?
This face was clearly Kevin's, the Kevin I'd grown up with since childhood.
The Kevin that Scarlett had mentioned, the one who'd always protected me since we were little.
Even if people looked alike, they couldn't be identical, could they?
The sedan owner walked over, his tone impatient. "You damaged my car like this, how are you going to pay for it?"
"I," Mason stood up, frantically patting his pockets, "I don't have that much money right now."
