Chapter 182: Return to Lakeview

Chapter 182: Return to Lakeview

Aviah's POV

A million dollars, and that's not much?

Damn, the world of rich people is really hard to understand.

I just lay back down on the lounge chair and muttered while thinking, "Now that I'm a company shareholder, can I have some privileges?"

Griffin smiled and turned around, "What privileges do you want?"

"Simple, can I skip coming to work on time?"

"Why? Do you have something going on?"

I obviously couldn't tell him about the bet with Scarlett, "Nothing really, you have so many secretaries, it shouldn't matter if I'm not around sometimes, right? Like if I get my period, can I take time off?"

"Of course you should rest at home when you have your period, but come to the company the rest of the time. You'd be bored at home anyway, right?"

I pouted, "Fine."

The half-month vacation trip ended quickly, and we reluctantly returned to Lakeview.

Ethan and Diane switched to another school.

Future Path Elementary.

After handling the kids' matters, I was ready to use Skylar's fake identity and officially take the first step toward becoming a star.

But before that, I still had to report to Skyline Group. I hadn't been to the company for three days since we got back to Lakeview. If I didn't go, I could already imagine Griffin's expression.

I drove to the company, feeling a bit annoyed on the way. What if he still wanted me to move in with him?

I hadn't decided yet whether I wanted to be with him.

I shook my head. Whatever, I'll just stall for now and deal with it later.

As soon as I got to the company, I got a message from Chloe, "Mr. Ravenscroft specifically asked you to make him a cup of coffee."

I rolled my eyes. I didn't need to think about it - he must have just seen me from his office.

I made the coffee and brought it to Griffin's office.

He sat in his chair with his legs crossed, wearing a mischievous smile.

"Finally decided to show up?"

I muttered quietly, "I was busy with the kids' stuff."

"Alright, about what you told me at Dawnlight Isle, I thought it over seriously. You're right, your current job is a bit boring. As it happens, the company has a project that needs cooperation with the Allen family. You'll go on my behalf."

When I heard this, I immediately regretted why I had said those things at Dawnlight Isle. Now I wouldn't even have a chance to sneak out and perform.

But what puzzled me more was - the Allen family?

Was it the Allen family I was thinking of?

I thought of Scott again. Was he really from the Allen family?

"Alright, I've sent the details to your computer. Go look at it yourself, and don't bother me unless it's important."

Watching him directly dismiss me, I grumbled internally, regretting again that I hadn't put laxatives in his coffee.

Although I was just an assistant, Griffin still gave me a separate office, not far from his, connected to Chloe's office.

Chloe and I were probably the two most unique people in the entire company.

I opened my computer and looked at the materials. It turned out the Allen family wanted to install their audio systems in cars produced by Skyline Group.

The Allen family had been in the audio industry for over thirty years and was basically an industry benchmark. Griffin had also entered the audio industry, but had just started, so he definitely couldn't compare with the Allen family.

After understanding the situation, I felt there wasn't any major problem. It didn't involve any specialized knowledge, just a general understanding would do.

To put it bluntly, I was just a representative. My appearance was equivalent to Griffin's appearance, showing respect to the Allen family.

After all, everyone in Lakeview now knew I was his woman.

Sending me would definitely show respect for the Allen family.

I hadn't expected that helping Griffin would bring so many changes to my life.

Both good and bad.

Today was August 3rd, and the contract signing was set for August 6th, three days away.

Chloe's POV

I sat in my office. On my computer screen was footage from Aviah's office. I had installed surveillance in her office, very discreetly. She didn't know about it.

Watching her and the documents on her computer, I already knew which contract it was.

The one with the Allen family.

Then I opened a chat window. Someone had sent me a message.

Seeing the message about safe evacuation, I breathed a sigh of relief.

Tony had joined Scarlett, so I could only choose to help her.

Scarlett couldn't fall easily, otherwise Griffin would turn his attention to me.

With Scarlett attracting Griffin's attention up front, I could figure out a way to proceed gradually.

Even if I did nothing, it would reduce Griffin's suspicion of me.

This risky move finally had a good result.

The Fisher family wouldn't let this go. Now I just had to wait for the Fisher family to make the first move.

Scarlett, I saved you once. You'd better return the favor later.

As for the Allen family, perhaps this was an opportunity.

I looked at Aviah on the screen, doing nothing and spacing out, and smiled coldly.

I was about to close the screen when I heard Aviah speaking. I stopped and listened carefully.

On the screen, Aviah was talking to herself, "Skylar, the name is fine, but what about the catchphrase? Do I really have to use that one? To get famous quickly, it's best to have some characteristics, some catchphrase that people can remember and spread around. That way, when people mention that phrase, they'll think of me, and fame will come faster."

"So annoying. I shouldn't have accepted Scarlett's challenge. Now that Griffin has messed things up, my originally easy job is getting busy too. I wonder how far along she is now. She's also action-oriented, maybe she's already somewhat famous."

"No way! Since I agreed to the bet, I'll follow through. I must find out the truth about my father's death. Scarlett, I won't let you beat me."

On the screen, Aviah was still talking to herself, while my eyes grew brighter and brighter.

Why did Aviah need to hide her identity? And then become famous?

Was she copying Griffin?

No, this had something to do with Scarlett, and from what Aviah said, they seemed to have reached some kind of agreement.

The truth about Alexander's death.

Think about it, think carefully.

I closed my eyes, clasped my hands together, tapping lightly, resting my head on my wrists, trying to piece together the truth from these details.

What secret did they have between them?

What was it?

I connected the recent events, rapidly going through the major incidents in my mind.

The Skyline Group patent incident, the trip to Dawnlight Isle.

Almost there, almost there, soon I'd be able to connect it all.

Suddenly, my eyes lit up, and I stood up excitedly, "I've got it - Tony!"
