CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-ONE

The doctor had to give Isabella something to get ther her to calm down. Right now she's sleeping in our room with Carina cradled in her arms. Rocco offered to take Carina so she could sleep but Bella refused. After she fell asleep, I tried to take Carina but she refused. Even in her unconscious state, she felt me trying to take Carina and was distressed.
Right now, I'm in the nanny's room with Rouge, Travis and Sly. Marco and Rocco took a few men and they're out, looking for everyone connected to the nanny. So far, they've come up with dust. They've all gone into hiding.
"The doctor said she'd be out for a few more minutes. Don't you want to leave the room? Check up on Bella, get some clean air?" Sky asks
I take a swig of my drink and shake my head. "I don't need air, I need answers. I'll know when Bella or Carina wake up."
God, my poor daughter. Thank God she won't remember any of this. She's never going to remember any of it but it will live with us.
Thirty minutes later, the nanny stirs and I learn forward, watching her with all the anger I can muster. She slowly opens her eyes and looks around the room. She gets visibly scared when she sees me.
"Please kill me now." She begs.
"We'll get that. Why the fuck did you slit your wrists in a room my daughter was in?"
I stand up and approach the bed and she moves back untill he back is against the head board.
"I'm very sorry, Mr. Rossi. I never wanted any of this to happen. I had no choice."
"No, don't fucking say that to me. You had a choice."
I bend down close to her face and she closes her eyes and cries harder.
"I'm going to ask for the last time and I hope to God your answer is going to be good because I'm going to torture everyone you know before I finally kill you. Why did you do it?"
She cries harder and brings her hands to her face.
"You can't torture them. They're all dead. Every single one of them is dead."
I pause, take a step back and look at Travis. Is that why Marco and Rocco can't find anyone?
"What happened?" I ask calmly.
She sniffs and takes deep breaths before she finally speaks. "Yesterday, I got a call from my mother so I answered. Except, it wasn't my mother's face on the screen. It was a man. He said his name is Randall and that he would kill my whole family if I didn't kill your daughter."
The anger leaves me immediately. Fuck, he's close. This time around he's done with silly games and he's decided to come get what he wants.
"He turned the camera to my mother's face but I saw he rest of my family in the background and they were all dead. That's how I knew that he wouldn't release them to me if I killed Carina. He said I have untill 12 pm today to do what he says else he'll kill my mother and me. I can't leave this house or he'll kill me and I would rather go on my own terms than let him kill me."
"You should have fucking come to me with that information. Do you know how shaken my wife is? She was the one who found you bleeding on the floor."
She starts crying into her hands again and I sigh. I do appreciate her refusal to kill my daughter. She could have gone through with it and we would have found out too late to save Carina.
"You didn't even think that there was a chance you could save your mother?"
"She wouldn't want me to save her like that. We won't be able to live with ourselves if that happened. And I'd live a very short life if I killed your daughter. I'm sorry I did that in front of Carina. I didn't know what else to do "
I didn't have to tell her what I do or if I was dangerous or not. The nannies I picked have all worked for crime families before. Crime and death aren't new to them.
"Rest. You're going to be fine. The scar will heal nastily but you'll be fine."
She stops crying and looks up at me. "You're not sending me away?" She asks.
"You just said you'd rather die than have him kill you."
I pat her hand and walk out of the room. She's going to stay away from anywhere Bella will see her for a while but she can stay. My phone rings and I answer immediately. It's Marco.
He clears his throat awkwardly. "Boss, I found her family but it's bad news. They're all dead."
"Her mother?"
"Dead. Looks like they all died yesterday."
I sigh heavily. She was right. He was never going to release her mother to her.
"Alright. Come back home. We need to start planning our attacks. We can't sit down and wait for him to hunt us down."
"What a morning you're having." Rogue says.
"Tell me about it. Thank you guys for coming. I appreciate it."
"It's cool. I haven't gotten any feedback from the construction companies I applied to so I have a little free time on my hands." Sky says.
We all laugh a little. I hear Carina's little cry from the baby monitor tucked into the band of my pants and I smile. I have to go feed her.
"I have to go. Make yourselves comfortable. I will be right back."
I enter the kitchen and the chef hands me Carina's milk before I can say anything. I smile in appreciation and remind myself to give everyone a raise after this whole shit is over.
I slowly carry a crying Carina away from Bella. She stops crying once I put the bottle in her mouth. She latches on and closes her eyes. God, she's been through a lot today.
Bella stirs and pats around her for Carina. Her eyes fly open and she sits up when she doesn't find her.
"Calm down, babe. We're here."
She turns towards my voice and visibly relaxes when she sees me with the baby. She falls back on the bed and exhales.
"Thank for for knocking me out. God knows I needed it."
"Are you okay now?" I ask and she nods.
"Did Lauren wake up yet?" She asks and I nod.
"Randall threatened to kill her entire family if she doesn't kill Carina. She picked death over killing our child."
She sits up and looks confused. "We employed her two days ago? How could he know already?"
"We might have a rat. Randal's network has grown so it wasn't difficult to gather Lauren's family in one place."
"Poor Lauren. I hope we can get her family back for her before he does something to them."
"He killed them all yesterday. She's doesn't even know yet."
"Oh God. How will she survive this?" Bella says, tearing up for Lauren.
Randall has to go.
