Chapter 23 - Heroes Reward
Chapter 23 - Heroes Reward
Axel
A fear like Axel had never experienced before in his lifetime shot through his entire body. His eyes widened in terror as he couldn’t believe what he was witnessing unfold before him. One moment his Mate was atop the speakers swaying precariously to the music and apparently fucking drugged! Then, just as he spotted the Ursa guy approach the speakers from the stage and begin to climb up to her, she jumped!
His heart thudded madly in his chest as he watched the only person in the whole world he cared for, leap from an incredible height into the hundreds of people below her. Leon was howling in absolute terror in his head as time seemed to slow down, they saw her falling lower and lower, the roar of the crowd was deafening as the drunkards realised one of their singers had just stage dived into them.
Axel felt rooted to the spot, knowing that even if he did run to her there was no way he would make it in time, past all of those people, to catch her before she landed.
Then it happened, she disappeared into the crowd and he could no longer see her. Had they caught her? Had they dropped her? Was she injured? He couldn’t see and it was driving him nuts. He felt Leon fighting for control, screaming at him to go to her right now.
But just as he took a step towards the hundreds of partiers to find her, he felt a heavy hand land on his shoulder to stop him. He whipped his head round to see who dared keep him from his goal and realised it was the weird vampire they had just met, Sigmund. He was smiling in amusement at Axel, his blood red eyes twinkling with mischief and then he pointed towards the crowd.
Axel followed his gaze and immediately caught sight of what the vampire was pointing at. He didn’t think it was possible for his eyes to widen any more, but apparently he was wrong as he felt his jaw drop open.
‘Mate is okay!’ Leon cheered in his head.
She wasn’t injured, if anything she looked like she was having the time of her life. The crowd had caught her, but they hadn’t put her back on her feet on the solid ground. She was being carried by many hands, surfing over the heads of the crowd and every now and then the crowd would throw her up in the air and catch her again. Axel saw her squeal excitedly every time they tossed her, but it gave his heart palpitations as he fought the urge to knock everyone out of the way and catch her safely in his open arms.
To his relief, she was finally lowered down by the crowd and placed on her own two feet on the solid ground. Axel let out a long sigh of relief he hadn’t realised he was holding in; however it didn’t last long.
He felt his body become tense almost immediately as he watched his Mate apprehensively. She had barely noticed the transition from the crowds hands to the floor and continued to sway her hips and dance to the beats the DJ was still playing. If Axel were the only one in the room and was the only one witnessing her seductive body sway back and forth he would have gladly stood mesmerised by her enchanting beauty, but he wasn’t the only one in the room.
His Mate was still dancing alongside the crowd of partiers and there were a lot of males around her! He felt his anger and jealously flare as he watched them hungrily take in her body and dance as close as they possibly could to her! And it was only then that Axel fully took in what she was wearing! Practically nothing!
She was in shorts and a crop top and that was it! He could see her cleavage from the very revealing top, most of her stomach and basically all of her legs and she was painted in seductive, glowing body paint. His eyes raked up and down her hungrily, but he was furious that others were seeing her like this as well. She was his and no one else should be looking at her except for him!
He only felt his anger growing more and more as he watched the strangers daring to dance closer to her! He wanted to rip their fucking heads off! Pull out their eyes for having laid eyes on his beautiful enchantress!
‘Need Mate now!’ Leon roared in his head and Axel readily agreed.
He shook off the vampire, not even caring to look back and explain himself and begun to go to his Mate. He had only taken a few steps, when he saw one of the strangers reach out in an attempt to touch her and he just lost it.
“Mine!” He roared, his voice easily vibrating against the walls.
Everyone who had dared be around her suddenly leapt back as though they had been electrocuted and Axel furiously looked at them all as they watched him like a bunch of frightened kittens. The music was still playing loudly and people far enough away were still dancing, but everyone in his Mate’s immediate vicinity had frozen.
Axel growled dangerously as a final warning to them all, knowing his eyes had bled black and they could all see and feel the power radiating from him. He was about to continue his walk towards his Mate when he himself froze.
She had turned around and stopped dancing. Her Sapphire eyes were piercing through his black eyes and he had no idea what to do as she studied him. He could feel the current of their bond flowing between them, begging him to go to her. But he was afraid, what if she ran? What if she really was afraid of him? Could she feel the bond? What if she was a creature that wouldn’t feel it and rejected him?
While he internally tortured himself with these fear fuelled questions, the most surprising thing by far that evening happened. His Mate smiled at him, she genuinely smiled with pure joy at seeing him! She yelled out something but he was too busy drinking in her heart-warming smile to hear and then next thing he knew she was running at him.
He only had a split moment to react as she leapt up at him, throwing her hands around his neck and wrapping her legs around his torso. He instantly secured his arms around her waist and held her flush against his chest. As soon as she was in his arms he felt sparks dance along his skin where their flesh was making contact and his heart felt like it was bursting with joy.
‘Mate is in our arms! She ran to us! She wants us!’ Leon cheered loudly, dancing around inside of Axel.
‘This has to be a dream! She’s here and I’m dreaming!’ Axel mumbled back as he gazed at her.
She was staring deep in to his soul with those perfect sapphire eyes and he knew in that instant that she could ask for anything and he would go through heaven and hell to make it happen. Her delicious rose lips curled into a smile again as she pulled him closer and embraced him closer so that they were hugging. His nose in the crook of her neck let him inhale deeply and he breathed in the scent he had come to dream of day and night for five years, the mouth-watering combination of winter berries and blossoms.
She had pushed her body so close to his that he could feel her soft chest pressed against his hard body. A husky, hungry growl escaped him when he realised she was not wearing anything except her revealing crop top. There was no bra or underwear of any sort to prevent her soft and voluptuous breasts from teasing him.
He did feel one thing between her chest and his and the realisation of what the little piece of metal was had his soldier down south instantly stand to attention as Leon howled excitedly.
‘It’s a piercing! Mate has a nipple piercing!’ He purred lustfully.
Once he felt it, Axel’s mind was filled with lustful thoughts of playing with the metal piercing and sucking it as his mate writhed in pleasure beneath him, moaning for more.
He had to stop as soon as he felt his soldier become more taut in his trousers and he struggled to keep his lustful thoughts at bay. He had to keep control; otherwise he’d take her right here right now in front of a club filled with strangers.
He pulled out of their hug and she pouted at him, the small gesture ripping a hole in his heart as he never wanted to cause her pain ever again, but he had to be strong, for now at least. But before he could even get a word out in attempt to reason with her, she beat him to it.
She cupped his cheeks with her small and delicate hands and he instantly felt himself lean into her touch as more sparks erupted from them. She smiled gently down at him, her sapphire eyes filed with adoration as she gazed into his lust filled eyes.
“I knew my hero would come for me.” She sighed.
‘She called us her hero!’ Leon yipped.
'Hero?' Axel thought confusedly, but her touch was too distracting to dwell on her words.
“I should give you a reward for finding me at last.” She smiled cheekily down at him.
“Reward?” Axel asked her, just as confused as before but again he had no time to dwell on words.
As soon as the word left his mouth, he watched as she leaned her face closer to his and then her soft lips as they pressed gently against his own.
He froze at first when he felt the contact, unable to believe this was really happening but soon he felt the sparks explode deep within him from the intimate contact.
‘Mate is kissing us! She’s kissing us!’ Leon howled so loud, it nearly drowned out the loud music.
It didn’t take long before Axel thought, ‘fuck it!’ He threw caution to the wind and kissed his beautiful mate back and it was the best moment of his life so far!
Her lips were so soft as they moved against his and they were the best thing he had ever tasted in his life. And if he thought things couldn’t get any better he was dead wrong when he felt her tongue trace along his bottom lip asking him for entrance; which he happily gave her.
Her tongue entered his mouth and she explored his mouth before their tongues met and danced around one another. He pulled her impossibly closer to him, as he asserted his dominance over her tongue and he felt her submit to him as he took control of their kiss. Her hands slid from his face and entangled themselves in his messy, dark hair and his cheeky little Mate even gave a little tug which had him purring.
In return he slid one of his hands down and gave her perfect ass a tight squeeze and got a better reaction than he could of ever imagined. She gasped and then moaned in pleasure as he squeezed her ass and he felt himself losing control as a loud, aroused growl rumbled through his chest and vibrated through his Mate.
He wanted her! Right now! He completely forgot that there were hundreds of people around them, all he saw and felt was her. She was his entire world and right now he wanted to be one with her, with his canines buried deep in the spot where he would mark and claim her as his own!
“Alpha!” He heard someone yell, which momentarily distracted him causing his mate to whimper at the loss of attention. Hearing her made him instantly decide to ignore whoever was trying to steal his attention and return to pleasing her. But the bastards kept incessantly trying to pull him away from her.
“What!?” He finally roared, using one hand to cover his mates ear while the other stayed wrapped protectively around her waist with her legs firmly secured around him. He turned and stared angrily at the others he forgot were even there, his eyes completely black and filled with fury from being interrupted.
“Alpha.” Oscar cautiously said and Axel realised it was him who had been constantly trying to interrupt them as he whipped his head around to glare at his Beta.
“Interesting…” He heard the vampire mutter again, which earned him a growl from Axel.
They were all watching them, looking at his mate! He took his hand away from her ear and placed it protectively over the back of her head, daring them to attempt to take her! She was his and no one was even allowed to look at her!
“We need to get her back…” He heard the guy Ursa say to the vampire; who was still smirking.
'They're trying to take Mate away!' Leon growled angrly.
“No!” Axel growled at him securing his mate even more, as he watched them all.
“Alpha…” Oscar tried again, but one look from Axel shut him up.
It was the vampire who was the only one brave enough to step closer to them.
“I’m afraid she needs to be taken home, Alpha.” He tried to reason.
“Mine!” Axel growled, flashing his canines dangerously at the blood sucker.
He felt his mate nuzzle her face into his neck and sigh contently; it made him relax for a millisecond before tensing up again watching the others attempt to tear them apart.
“She needs to come with us.” The vampire pressed, taking another step towards them. “She has been drugged Alpha, we need to get the substance out of her system fast!” Sigmund explained.
Axel felt his heart plummet. He had been so swept up by her affection and her kiss that he had completely forgotten about that! He looked down at her and she gazed back at him, cupping his face with one of her hands again.
“So bright and pretty…” He heard her murmur, he cocked his head questioningly but didn’t get the chance to ask what she meant before he caught someone else in his peripheral vision.
He turned to look and noticed someone new appear and he instantly recognised them from the few photos he had of his mate.
“You!” He growled down at the woman, clutching his mate securely again.
“Me!” The silver haired woman smirked sarcastically, glaring right back at Axel. “Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to take my friend and remove the dangerous substance from her blood!” She huffed, refusing to stand down or submit.
“No! She’s mine!” He growled.
“You won’t be able to say that for long if you don’t let me help her!” The woman hissed.
“Axel, I think she needs to go with them!” Oscar said hesitantly.
Axel turned to look at his Beta accusingly but what he saw was nothing but concern, there was no malice or bad intent. It helped Axel realise that even though he wanted nothing more than to keep her right there in that moment, she wasn’t in her right mind and he needed to get her help.
“I will go with her!” He said, looking down at her.
“You can’t!” The woman groaned, clearly irritated.
“Why not?” He demanded.
“I can’t allow it I’m afraid.” The vampire Sigmund intervened this time. “Where my performers live is kept secret for their own protection.” He explained.
“But I would never harm her!” Axel growled, angry at the very notion of any harm befalling his precious mate.
“Be that as it may, I’m afraid Siren is not the only one who lives there and I just can’t allow it.” Axel was about to argue with him, but Sigmund continued. “But if you allow Lynx to take her to safety, I will arrange for you to see Siren again. A special event is coming and I can guarantee you’ll wish to attend and witness it with your own eyes.” Sigmund said with his eyes sparkling.
Axel thought about it for a moment, but the decision was made as soon as he heard his little mate coughing into his chest and he could feel her temperature was beginning to rise rapidly.
“Alright.” He sighed, lowering her to the ground. She pouted up at him when her feet touched the ground, but he gave her a reassuring smile and gently kissed her forehead. Leaning down by her ear he whispered loud enough for her to hear. “See you soon, princess.”
She giggled as his breath tickled her ear, but too soon the silver hair woman came forward and took his mate by her delicate hand and begun to lead her away. He watched with a heavy heart with every step she took further away from him, until she disappeared through a guarded side door. Leon cried at the loss of her presence and disappeared to the recesses of his mind to sulk.
His face fell and Oscar came over and held his shoulder in an attempt to comfort his loss.
“I will contact you through Alpha Duncan.” The vampire told him and Axel nodded towards him. “She will be fine, we take care of our little family here. I won’t let anything happen to your mate, Alpha.” Sigmund smiled, before departing and leaving both wolves stiff with shock.
“He knew?” Oscar gasped.
“Of course he did, he runs a club of supernatural’s.” Axel sighed. “It's probably not the first time he’s seen a wolf go crazy over his mate."
Axel looked longingly at the door his mate disappeared through again, before sighing in defeat.
“Go get Ray, we’re heading back.” He told Oscar, walking away.
He headed for the door, intending to wait by the car.
He had her and now she was gone again! The vampire had promised to contact him so he could see her again, but he didn’t want to wait, he wanted to be with her! He had waited so long and he needed her, but he was stuck waiting for the phone to ring like a bloody teenage girl!
As soon as they got back he was going for a run, he needed to clear his mind and calm himself. He would see her again; he just had to be patient! A virtue he was very slowly becoming accustomed to.
