Chapter 159: Vivian's Statement
Chapter 159: Vivian's Statement
October 9th, Willowbend, Mississippi
Dean's POV
After Tyler finished his statement, I leaned forward across the metal table. "You mentioned Luka had prepared a surprise for Tara at the dock. What was that surprise?"
Tyler shook his head, running his hands through his disheveled hair. "I was so focused on protecting Tara that I didn't pay attention to any surprise. Maybe there wasn't any surprise at all. Maybe Luka just made that up to trick Tara into meeting him at the dock." He paused, then said with anger and disgust, "As for why he chose the dock, I think some men, especially wealthy men, just enjoy seeking thrills in dangerous places."
I was about to ask another question when the interrogation room door opened. Tyler's parents burst in, followed by a man in an expensive suit carrying a leather briefcase.
Tyler's father looked furious. His face was red with anger as he pointed at his son. "Do you have any idea what kind of mess you've gotten yourself into? A man is dead, Tyler! Dead! And you're right in the middle of it!"
Tyler's mother immediately rushed to her son's side. She was a small, elegant woman who clearly adored her only child. "Don't worry, sweetheart," she said, stroking Tyler's hair. "Mother will get you out of this. We won't let anything happen to you." Then she turned to me with venom in her voice. "This is all that slut's fault! That Tara woman brought this trouble to our town. She's destroying our children!"
The lawyer stepped forward, adjusting his tie. "I'm representing the Thornwell family. Officer, my client will not be answering any more questions without counsel present." He turned to Tyler. "Tyler, before you respond to any questions, you need to consult with me first. Don't say anything without my approval. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. The prosecution will try to twist your words. Remember, you have the right to remain silent, and I strongly advise you to exercise that right until we can properly assess your legal situation."
After Tyler was escorted back to his holding cell, one of my colleagues brought Vivian into the interrogation room. Unlike Tyler, Vivian had her father's lawyer beside her.
I started to stand. "We need to question Miss Cross alone."
My colleague shook his head. "Dean, the mayor came to the station personally. He's in the chief's office right now. The chief has already approved Vivian's interrogation with full legal representation."
I looked at the lawyer, then back at my colleague. Having a lawyer present during interrogation was Vivian's legal right, and I had no grounds to continue refusing.
"Fine," I said, settling back into my chair.
Vivian's Statement
This whole thing is that bitch Tara's fault! Ever since she moved to town this year, Tyler's been completely different. He's like he's under some kind of spell, completely obsessed with that woman.
A traditional woman like me doesn't stand a chance against a whore like that!
I can see all the men in this town acting like they're possessed. Every night they're running to her bar. Even you police officers are no different.
Last night, I went to Tyler's house to ask him to watch a movie with me, but he said he had to go out. I knew he was definitely going to the bar to see that bitch. He even made up a lie to fool me, saying he was going to check on his family's factory. I know Tyler doesn't care about his family's factory at all. Why would he go to the factory at night?
What I didn't expect was that even when I exposed his lie, Tyler didn't feel guilty at all. He actually pushed me away.
I couldn't accept it!
What he didn't know was that I had installed a GPS tracker in his car. I discovered his car wasn't heading to June's Bar at all. Instead, it was getting closer and closer to Dock 9.
At the time, I thought maybe that woman Tara was meeting Tyler outdoors for sex.
Women like that always come up with new ways to seduce men. They're experts at manipulating innocent men with their dirty tricks.
I was so angry I could barely think straight, so I drove after him. My hands were shaking on the steering wheel. I kept thinking about what I would say to her, what I would do when I caught them together.
When I arrived at Dock 9, before I even got close, I could hear arguing inside. I heard Tyler's voice and rushed in immediately.
There was only one flashlight on the ground providing light, but I could clearly see Tara standing there! Tyler was fighting with some man.
I didn't know who that man was at the time. The moment I saw Tara, I lost all control. My fiancé had left me at home and come to this place in the middle of the night just to see her!
So I rushed over to scratch that woman's face. But Tyler ran over to stop me.
During the struggle, I could hear Tara screaming something, but I was too angry to understand what she was saying. All I could think about was making her pay for stealing my man.
Later I don't know what happened, but that strange man was suddenly impaled on that steel rod. It looked horrible.
I was so scared I collapsed on the ground. Then Tara called the police, and you officers arrived.
This whole thing was caused by that bitch Tara. It has nothing to do with me, and it's not Tyler's fault at all!
You should release me and Tyler right now and throw that bitch in prison!
