Chapter 16 Sudden Sweetness
(SHANNICA'S P.O.V)

Time flies, and we finished our dinner at Mr. Lincoln's resident. We had some little chit-chat about some stuffs, until Xander decided for us to leave.
"It's already 10:00 PM, Dad. I guess we have to go. It's late, you should also rest by now." Xander said and stood up.
"Right sir-- I mean Dad, we should probably go." I agreed.
He nodded, "Alright, this old man should take his rest now. I'll see you again next day, my beautiful daughter-in-law." he said and hug me.
I smile with the thought, is this what it feels like to have a Dad?

"Send my regards to my beloved grandson, Xander." he added and bid goodbye to us.
Xander and I went to the parking area of the mansion and I still can't wear off the smile on my face.
"Are you that happy?" Xander asks.
I faced him, "I think I understand why you love your Dad so much, Xander. He's a good person." And that I wish I could also experience that kind of fatherly love.
"Get in. I'll drive you home."
"Is it okay for you to drive? You had a little drink earlier." I questioned.
"I'm fine, I'm not drunk at all. Don't worry." He said.
But my place is quite far from here, I think it's almost a 45 minutes drive.
"Uhm, just drop me off at the taxi cab station Xander. I'll be fine. I know you're exhausted and you need rest too." I suggested.
He look at me, "Instead of that, will you come to my place with me? Just sleep in our place."
"Huuuh?" I uttered in disbelief.
"Tomorrow's sunday, I'm planning to take you to our wedding designer tomorrow. So just sleep at our place tonight." he insisted.
"Don't worry, the guest room is vacant. You can sleep there." he added.
Wedding designer? Are we going to pick a gown and stuff?
"Come on, it's dangerous to go home on your own Shannica, just come with me." he invited again.
Well, he has a point.
I sigh,
"O-Okay then.."

We drove back for 25 minutes I think, I even doze off for a couple of minutes until I noticed that the car stop, and it horns in front of a big gate. I slowly open my eyes and saw some guys opening the gate,
We enter a very spacious yard and then we stopped at the main door.
"This is my home. I mean, my own place aside from the villa.", Xander
This man is surely a billionaire. This mansion is much more bigger than Mr. Lincoln's residence.
".... And this will be your home soon, Shannica." He added.
Oh crap I almost forgot that I have to move out and live with him a few days from now. Why does everything feel so surreal? I can't believe this is really happening in my life right now.

We went out the car and I saw Xander give the car keys to one of his butler to park the car...

"Aunt Milla!" Xander calls from someone the moment we entered the mansion.
After few seconds, a middle aged woman appeared and greeted us. Some maids also glance at us, looking at me in a questionable look.
"Yes, sir Xander?" That Milla asks then look at me,
"Greeting to you, Miss. I'm Milla, the head maid of this mansion." she formally greeted me.
"Ah hello, my name is Shannica." I greeted back and smile at her.
"Please clean the guestroom #1 auntie, my fiancée will sleep here tonight." Xander uttered, he pull me over and put his arm on my shoulder.
"Oh my god."
"Sir Xander's fiancée?" I heard one of the maid whisper.
I noticed the unbelievable expressions of some maids in the surrounding. I suddenly felt uncomfortable so I just shook my head.
"Please follow me upstairs, Ms. Shannica, I'll guide you to your room." Aunt Milla broke the silence.
"Ah y-yes, please lead the way." I awkwardly answered.
Aunt Milla starts walking so I followed her upstairs. It is so fascinating to see how big this place is. And after we went upstairs, the hallway is full of rooms, woah, there are eight rooms in total.
Aunt Milla isn't a talkative type and remain silenced until we stopped at the second to the last doorway.
"This will be your room, Miss. Let's go in, I'll just clean up the beddings a little bit.", Milla.
I was about to enter the room with Aunt Milla but someone calls out my name in the corridor.
"Shannica."
I look back and saw Xander walking towards my way.
"O-Oh, you're not going to sleep yet?" I asks as soon as he stops in front of me.
I bend down my head as I really feel embarrassed right now.
But suddenly, Xander held my chin, and lifted it up so I could stare on his face.
"X-Xander.."
"Chin up. Lincoln's don't bow down their heads, Shannica. You're going to be Xander Lincoln's wife so always lift your head up high." he said and held my hand.
To my surprise, I wasn't able to avoid the next step he did... He suddenly kiss the back of my hand.
"Good night, Shannica." he uttered with a sweet grin before he turn his back at me. I was left dumbfounded with a hot and red face because of his sudden sweetness.
Sht, this isn't good.
