Chapter 166 Two Lunas
Chapter 166 Two Lunas
Beatrice POV
Liora's wedding day arrived wrapped in perfect spring sunshine. I woke early despite being six months pregnant and eternally exhausted. Today my best friend became my sister in truth.
Darius was already up, helping with last-minute preparations. I found him arguing with Kaelen about flower arrangements.
"They're fine," Darius was saying.
"Fine isn't good enough. This is Theron's wedding. It needs to be perfect."
"The flowers are perfect," I said. "Everything is perfect. Now both of you stop fussing and help me find Liora."
I found her in one of the guest chambers, surrounded by half the female pack members. Everyone was talking at once, offering advice and help and probably making her more nervous.
"Out," I said firmly. "Everyone except Helena, out now."
They scattered. Liora sat in front of the mirror in her ceremonial gown, looking terrified. "I can't do this," she said.
"Yes you can."
"What if I'm not good enough to be Luna?" She turned to face me. "You were born to this. You're royalty. I'm just... me."
"Just you is exactly what Theron needs." I sat beside her carefully, my belly making everything awkward. "You taught him how to be soft again, how to love without fear. That's more powerful than any royal bloodline."
"What if I mess up the ceremony?"
"Then you mess up. Nobody's perfect." I took her hand. "Liora, that man loves you completely. He's not marrying you for political advantage or alliance. He's marrying you because his world is better with you in it."
"I love him so much it scares me," she whispered.
"Good. That's how you know it's real."
Helena helped with final touches to Liora's hair and gown. When we were done, she looked like the goddess she was.
The ceremony was held at the Sacred Grove again. The entire pack assembled, along with visiting alphas and dignitaries. This was more than a wedding, it was a statement.
I stood in the front row beside Darius, his hand resting protectively on my swollen belly. Our baby had been kicking all morning, as if she knew something important was happening.
Theron waited at the altar in full ceremonial dress. When Liora appeared at the path's entrance, my brother actually trembled.
"Did Theron just show emotion?" Kaelen whispered to Silas.
"I think he's about to cry," Silas whispered back.
"Someone write this down. Historical moment."
I elbowed them both to shut up.
Liora walked the moonlit path alone. She'd chosen not to be given away by anyone, walking to Theron on her own power. It was very her.
When she reached him, Theron's eyes were definitely wet. His voice cracked when he spoke his vows.
"You are my second chance at happiness," he said. "My redemption after years in the dark. You taught me that strength isn't about walls and control. It's about letting someone see all of you and trusting them not to break you. I promise to spend every day proving I'm worthy of that trust."
Liora was crying openly now. "You already proved it. You chose me when the world said you should choose someone better. You made me believe I was worth choosing. I promise to love you through everything. The good and the bad and the terrifying. You're my home, Theron."
Ysara Moonveil performed the bonding ceremony. The Moon Goddess's blessing descended, light bathing both of them. When Theron marked Liora's neck, claiming her as his mate, the pack howled in celebration.
Then came the historic moment. Ysara named Liora Luna of Wynterhold alongside me. Two Lunas. The symbolic weight of it hit everyone. Murmurs rippled through the crowd. Visiting alphas looked shocked. But our pack howled louder, accepting and celebrating.
Liora and I stood together before the pack, hand in hand. Two women who'd been told they were worthless now leading the most powerful pack in the realm.
"To the omegas who became queens," Kaelen shouted, raising his glass.
The pack roared approval. The celebration feast that followed was massive. Tables laden with food, music filling the Great Hall, joy spilling over everywhere.
I couldn't drink because of the pregnancy, but I didn't mind. I danced anyway, Darius supporting me as my belly made movement interesting.
"You're beautiful," he murmured, pulling me close.
"I'm huge."
"You're carrying our child. That makes you the most beautiful woman in existence."
The emotional speeches started after dinner. One by one, pack members stood to toast Theron and Liora. To talk about love and second chances and new beginnings.
When it was my turn, I stood with some difficulty. Darius steadied me.
"I came to Wynterhold broken," I said. "Rejected. Convinced I was worthless. My brothers gave me back my family. But Liora gave me back myself. She was my first real friend. The first person who saw me as just Bea, not a servant or a princess or anything else. Just me."
I looked at where Liora sat beside Theron, both of them glowing with happiness.
"Now she's my sister in every way that matters. And I can't think of anyone better to share the role of Luna with. To everyone who ever told us we weren't enough, that omegas couldn't lead, that we should know our place" I raised my glass of water. "Look at us now."
The hall erupted in cheers. Pack members were on their feet, howling approval. Even some of the visiting dignitaries looked moved.
Later, Theron pulled me aside for a private moment in one of the quiet corridors. “Thank you," he said.
"For what?"
" For giving us another chance to be your family." He looked uncharacteristically vulnerable. "We failed you for twenty years. We should have found you sooner."
"You found me when I needed you most," I said. "That's what matters. You're my brother, Theron. My family. There's nothing to forgive."
He pulled me into a careful hug, mindful of my belly. "I love you, little sister."
"I love you too."
The party continued late into the night. I stood on the terrace at one point, just watching. My brothers were scattered throughout the hall. Theron and Liora dancing close, lost in each other. Silas and Helena in deep conversation. Corin charming some visiting healer. Kaelen telling animated stories to a group of younger pack members.
My whole family were together.Darius came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me from behind, his hands resting on my belly.
"Our daughter just kicked," he said with wonder.
"Yeah she has been doing that all day, I think she likes parties."
"Just like her mother." He kissed my temple. "What are you thinking about?"
"How perfect this moment is. How lucky I am." I leaned back against him. "A year ago I was a servant. Rejected and broken. Now I'm Luna of Wynterhold, carrying your child, surrounded by a family who loves me. It doesn't feel real sometimes."
My mind drifted back to a few weeks ago, when Corin had called us to his healing chambers. I could still see the soft amber glow of his eyes as his hands rested on my belly, his healing magic connecting with our pup. The wonder on his face when he'd looked up at us.
"A daughter," he'd said, his voice thick with emotion. "A strong, healthy daughter."
Darius had pulled me into his arms immediately, and I'd felt tears streaming down my face—happy tears, for once. We'd tried to stay composed, but Corin had laughed at our failed attempts, pulling us both into a hug. Within minutes, my brothers had "coincidentally" appeared at the healing chambers, and the secret lasted approximately thirty seconds before we were all celebrating.
"It's real," Darius promised, pulling me back to the present. "And it's forever."
Our daughter kicked again, stronger this time. We both felt it and laughed. "She agrees," I said.
