Chapter 57 You have a secret family
Chapter 57 You have a secret family
Rosie's POV
"Someone's visiting me with her daughter, one of my co-workers, you've seen her before, and I just want to spend these memorable moments with them before you steal me away again..."
He suddenly heaved a sigh, rubbed his forehead as though frustrated by my words.
"So you literally live in a neighborhood with kids?" he asked as there were noises from outside now, rising.
I nodded, my response was increasingly evasive as my eyes darted around the room again.
He took a spoon, chewed, and then threw his gaze at me.
"Then I should have abducted your neighbor, because she'd bear me sons" he joked, breaking out of character, but he didn't smile, he was serious.
I was the one laughing, my body screams help as the pressure of having those scorching eyes on me.
"That would have been a relief. I didn't get to see you," I said, attempting to brush off his suspicion.
He used his tongue to rub his front teeth while sniffing.
"I want your friend and her kids. Besides, you should introduce me to them."
"Why? When you literally stole me?" I opposed it like it was a fight and my heart was caught in my throat.
My prayer has become more aggressive in my heart. Oh god, no more questions.
"You said they were coming?" he pointed out as a reminder while taking a banana bread which he crunched, with those eyes on me.
I threw my head back, dragging back the genesis of the lies to my brain.
"I doubt, not when your appearance will chase them away."
"How? They don't know I'm here."
"Your presence is felt everywhere..."
"You have a secret family, don't you? And you're lying to hide it" I muttered not in an offensive tone, as he shot up on the chair.
"What? Damien, you think what? If I did, you would have known!" I cut in, glaring at him, but he was unbothered, or he was because the spoon in his hand had broken.
I could feel a vibration where I stood, and my legs could barely stand straight.
Damien let out an upside-down smile, his lips still chewing the bread. I can tell he is trying to feed his curiosity.
"It's a question, but you look all jittery like I'm right," he said in a cocky tone as his eyes were grazing me and I gnashed my teeth.
Don't freak out.
He didn't even ask how I escaped the castle nor would he give me details of what kind of war he went to.
"No, I'm not but the way you sound makes it look like I'm hiding something from you."
"Of course, you and I suspect you," he bluntly said, lowering his eyes to the table, and this time, his hand reached out for a muffin, and he suddenly scoffed.
"I want to see them," he pressed again, and this time his voice sounded dangerous.
He crossed one of his arms on the headrest of the chair to face me properly.
"Besides, you created a feast for them, they shouldn't miss it"
I swallowed, shivering where I stood as my lungs burned.
"I...yes, they're coming, but I don't know why they're late. I'm nervous," I defended, widening my eyes at him as he spoke.
"Invite the neighbors' kids too, maybe the boys will bring us good luck."
He was so quick with the words that he caught me off guard and my stomach squirmed.
"I'm not friends with the neighbors, they keep insulting me that I'm single and bad luck to look at in front of their kids," I mused, crossing my arms just so he ignores that.
What should I do? I need to reach out to Aria, but he shouldn't know. Everything was puzzling and frightening, and I wished to vanish somehow.
"What!" He snapped in an angry tone that my soul left me for a second.
"How dare they! I'd invite them myself! Let's see who'll be the laughingstock!"
"No, I don't want more trouble."
"But I want trouble!" he roars, acting all offended by my words and I slapped my forehead.
He almost stood up again, but I quickly abandoned my seat and ran to stop him before he took a step.
"No, relax, they'll see me on screen with you. That alone will seal their lips, it's too late to disturb."
He sighed deeply as we stared intensely at each other.
"You're bloody...you should take a shower before they come... please don't scare the kids," I added in between my teeth, breathing so hard that I feared my lungs would burst.
He thinned his lips, his eyes narrowed again, and I was fretful that he'd start another argument.
"Alright," he said softly, reaching out and gently tucking a strand of hair behind my ear and I swallowed.
Did he just agree with me? I doubt if he believes my words, but it seems he's exhausted from arguing with me.
"But I'm feeling lazy, you could just bathe me," he proposed, inhaling softly and fluttering his eyes at me.
"Damien, I need to clean up the mess you made me create at the door," I said even though I'm trembling as it is.
He suddenly circled my waist and then placed his head gently on my stomach.
My body recoiled as I went silent, my hands finding their way to his soft hair, which was quite sticky.
I could feel his soft breath, his soft pants, and when I looked down at him, his eyes were closed.
"We are going to have a baby. Princess, don't let their words get into you."
There's no reason why he's suddenly saying this, and I sucked my breath, suddenly touched.
"The kids will love me and your friend will fall in love," he assured, and then buried his face in my stomach.
I scoffed as he was acting all cocky, but that would take his mind off the questions.
I went speechless, yanking his head up and meeting his gaze. He's looking for a doubt, if perhaps I'd say something contrary to his words.
However, playing along is best. He rose up, and his height threatened mine.
"You should shower first. Your appearance matters," I corrected with a flipped heart.
Damien twisted his lips and I heard a silent grunt from him.
He takes a quick survey again on the table, glances at his wristwatch, which I believe got damaged because of his so-called war.
Another question?
Then dragging his coat, he says;
"Bathroom"
