Chapter 55 They're home!
Chapter 55 They're home!
Rosie's POV
Arriving at the mansion put me in tears. I was expecting to find the kids and Harry because it was evening, but the house was empty.
I should have called before coming. Nevertheless, I feel thrilled and wherever they are, they'd be excited to see me when they return.
The key is always at its usual spot like they're awaiting me to surprise them at any time.
I was finally home but then, I felt a pang of disappointment.
Not wasting time wondering where they were, I dropped my bag by the door and paced into the kitchen.
Time to get my hands busy and wash off the memory of some alpha who gets on my nerves.
Before I got my hands into anything pertaining to the kitchen, I placed a call to Harry.
"Hello?" I whispered, my excitement could be felt in my tone.
From the background, I could hear chat and loud noises.
"Hey, is that you Rosie?" he asked, and I nodded, biting my lips, smiling as I began to set the kitchen up.
There's a sigh as though I was pleased to hear that.
"How has it been in the castle? I hope he doesn't stress you out."
I shook my head as though he'd see me.
"No, you know he can't mess with me," I responded, giggling.
"Oh really, that's thrilling to hear."
"I'd prove to him that I won a black belt in taekwondo."
He chuckles on the phone and then inhales again.
"If you say so Rosie, I believe you."
We both chuckled, but then I realized that I came here mainly for my kids.
"Are the boys with you? I'm home."
"Wow, for real!" He asked, his voice etched in a surprise tone, and I could hear his walking footsteps.
"Yeah, I guess the surprise is known already," I said dryly, still forcing a laugh while subconsciously taking a big spoon.
"Finally, we'll be eating a proper meal today."
I blushed as his words sounded flamboyant and happy.
"Stop it, don't tell me you're feeding the boys junk!" I protested, trying to be serious, but my crackling eyes sold me away.
"Not really...hey hold..." he said and then the next words I heard were:
"Boys, your mom is home."
"Mummy!!" They chorused loudly that my ears bled with their enlivening scream.
"I missed you so much!" Chris yelled, and I could hear him jumping.
"Mommmm, you came back," Colton cried, totally speechless as his voice choked and I felt emotional.
Tears of joy clouded my eyes from just hearing their voices, and I'm glad I'll be seeing them again.
"Yes love, I'm here, so you boys hurry up and meet me for supper!" I teased, and I could hear their cheer.
"We'd be home in a jiffy," Harry said and I licked my lower lip.
"Alright boys, I'm waiting," I whispered, and after a little chat with Harry, I terminated the call.
Thrilled, I buried myself preparing a meal as I whisked some eggs, grilled chicken, prepared a dome of potato casserole, fried green tomatoes, and a touch of corn on the cob.
For the soup, they love clam chowder and I did just that.
The dessert was Twinkies and I added some bologna sausage.
The side dishes were some artichoke dip and buffalo wings. Just to not leave Harry out of this, I prepared macaroni and cheese.
Baking cannot be made out of this, and so I made some muffins and banana bread.
Obviously, it's a feast because I didn't know when I'd be returning until I come up with a plan.
My stomach growled with anticipation and as I cooked, the aroma filled the kitchen, making me drool.
Then I set the table, adding a few extra touches to make it special.
The garden in the backyard sure has me prying as I reached out for some fresh flowers which I brought back to the garden.
I placed it in a vase and then set their favorite plates.
As I waited, I wandered over to the living room window, gazed out of the neighborhood.
My patience was running out as the minutes ticked by slowly. My eyes checked my phone, wondering if I missed a message from Harry.
Nothing.
I intended to call Harry, but then I just snubbed it. Besides, he says he'd be close by.
I settled on the couch, my eyes grazed around, missing every moment, and my excitement returned.
I snacked on some muffins and let the silence of the house wash over me.
Then, feeling all tired, I decided to have some music played and I danced about.
Finally, I heard the sound of the front door opening. My smile broadened as I rushed to get the cake.
Once, it was seated on my palms and dashed to the front. My heart was flustered as I squinted my eyes, ignoring the sounds.
"Welcome..."
The words weren't completed when I sprang my eyes open and the cake suddenly dropped from my hand.
My body wobbled, and my breath ceased as I stared at a man, bathed in blood, with a gun, a hand in his pocket, the same suit, and more ruffled hair.
There's an awe that stays on his face, time stops, and we stare at each other like strangers.
"Princess?"
"Damien?" I muttered as he widened his eyes with disbelief.
He suddenly lifted the gun to my head and I shuddered. My eyes roamed all over his face as I was jinxed.
He really went to war, just as his letter implies. But what's he doing here?
Shit! He found me. I couldn't even swallow, as everything in me froze.
"What are you doing here?" He questioned, his eyes scrolling around, and I almost retched because of the blood stain.
"I..."
"Princess!" He yelled, suddenly angry, and my shoulders jumped to my ears as his appearance was dreadful.
"This...is my..."
I couldn't complete my words as footsteps began drawing close, followed by laughter and the murmur of my boys' echoes.
They're home!
"Mummy's home!"
