Chapter 52 That's me in person
Chapter 52 That's me in person
Damien's POV
Arriving at the bus stop, I realized the place was quite lonely, which is unusual.
While in the car, observing the place, I suddenly ran my fingers through my coat, intending to bring out the ledger, but it was a lollipop that came out.
Staring at it reminded me of the kid I met earlier, before that thug. Two hours ago, on our way out of the palace, I saw the kid at a crosswalk not too far from the palace.
He looked lost though, just staring at the pedestrians that passed by with delight.
I was just curious and, goodness, I could see myself in him. His fingers were raking his hair, and then he smoothed it.
A habit I was fond of, and I ended up staring from the window.
I had to stop Daven just to say hi to the kid who blessed my heart with his adorable appearance.
When I came out of the car to address him, he seemed pleased, smiling as though he was waiting for me.
"Hi," I greeted, trying not to scare him off, but he waved, acting all timid.
"Alpha Damien, right?" he asked, and I adjusted my collar, stretching my hand for a handshake.
My smile broadens as I see he might be a fan.
"That's me in person," I announced in a booming tone.
Oddly, he didn't take my handshake and placed a lollipop in my hand.
His eyes were fixed on me, and he suddenly said;
"You're so sad, you need something sweet in your life."
I melted, suddenly staring at what he used to replace the handshake.
It's like he just read me in a sentence and my face suddenly grew sober.
What kind of child is he? Somehow, I wanted to study with him.
"Really?" I asked, playing along and wanted to prove that he was wrong.
"Hiding your pain behind a smile and jokes is brave of you, but you're really sick...here," he muttered, suddenly pointing a finger at my forehead with a serious face.
I scoffed unbelievably as an unexpected tear brewed up in my eyes.
He was making me feel emotional as his tender hand fondled the skin there.
However, brushing down the emotions and concentrating on what I intended to do, I switched topics immediately.
"I have no gifts to give you though, but I..."
"It's okay, I don't need your gift, I just want to see my mom," he cuts in, looking all charged to begin a list of his lollipop which he probably used as a bargain.
A sad smile wore on me as he crossed his arms, standing tall and his eyes roamed all over my face.
I furrowed my brows at him, tugging the lollipop from my coat. I was curious if perhaps his mom was missing and he needed help.
"Who's she?" I asked in a subtle tone, thrilled and urged to help in any way I could.
His name sounded like a charter? Is it cinder? It kind of starts with a c and, my god, his eyes.
I just don't know why they reminded me of my younger self.
He claims he's a fan and that he has seen me with his mom before, and we are shooting a movie.
Interesting.
I didn't get a chance with him because his nanny or sister appeared out of the blue to take him away.
He didn't even get to tell me the name of his mom, but he yelled his name as his nanny or sister took him, scolding him never to leave her sight.
I swear I've seen that nanny or sister somewhere, but I don't know what's happening in my memory that I have forgotten things lately.
Dragging my thoughts behind my head, I unwrapped the lollipop and stepped out of the car, to wait with Daven.
However, I could see a runaway kid. I just couldn't see her face properly, but it seemed as though she was hiding.
I never meant to pry, but because I was bored, I decided to question her and from the page she reads, it's definitely about me and Rosie.
Speaking of which, I imagined what she'd be doing. Her letter, she must have read it, punched it, and swore at me.
I smiled and then placed my palms on my thighs, now studying this girl who is so engrossed in a book that even if chaos breaks out here, she'd be absent-minded and wouldn't know about it.
Oddly, the book was upside down, or perhaps, I was making her all shy. Being a celebrity is golden.
Nevertheless, taunting people was my thing just so she had a wonderful experience just meeting me.
But it seemed like she didn't know me and I felt insulted.
I feel she's going through something traumatizing and needs help, but she won't open up easily.
Just when I tried advising her, she vanished inside the bus that stopped to take passengers, forgetting her book in my hand.
My eyes traced her and I found her sitting close to the window facing me.
Our eyes locked, and I waved the book to her, but it seemed as though she wasn't interested.
I get distracted when Daven whispers to me that he has seen the beggar.
Gently, I left the book on the bench, rising to meet a beggar who'd be in need now.
I heard he pretends to be a beggar and hands over slots to desperate people at different bus stops.
According to the report, he gives the location to meet him and hands over these slots.
Well, the thing is, these slots are for something dangerous which I'm yet to figure out.
The beggar seemed to wander a distance away from us and Daven, who was faster, cornered him.
Before I could reach them, I realized that he had started a fight with Daven and I growled, annoyed.
He could just comply. Daven manages to grasp him, clutching firmly to him, but unfortunately, the beggar slips out of his hand.
Then a race began between both and I just stood watching, emotionless.
For a moment, I didn't know what was happening but my head was throbbing like something hard had fallen on it.
Oddly enough, nothing of such happened. Leaving the spot where I stood, I glided gracefully to watch how the cat chased the mouse.
I found them in an alley down the lane, wrestling with each other and shit! The beggar has some guts.
I guess that's why they say he takes on different personalities and is more of a killer.
But he's stressing me out.
All I did was take out a gun and blow his head off with several bullets raining on his body.
