Chapter 73 Possession

Chapter 73 Possession
Amara’s POV

The world whirled around me. My heart was pounding as if it wanted to burst out, and my chest was rising and falling too quickly. Inside my thoughts, a deep, whispering voice took the place of the war sounds.

"No." I held my head in shock. "Not right now."

I no longer owned my body. An odd burning clawed my veins. I saw nothing but blackness as my vision became blurry. Then it was broken by Rowan's voice.

"Amara! Look at me! He took hold of my shoulders.

My mouth moved on its own even though I tried to respond to him. I let out a chilly laugh, but it wasn't mine.

The voice purred through me, "Poor boy." I'm still holding onto her. Are you blind? I now own her.

Rowan's face went white. "Lilith."

I yelled inside my head, but the witch's magic muffled my voice. My lips curled into a sly smirk as my body moved closer to him.

Rowan took a small step back; his eyes ached. "Fight her, Amara! You're more resilient than this!

However, the voice continued to laugh louder, reverberating in my mind like thunder. She is frail. I walked right in when she opened her heart. Now, this is my vessel.

I tried to release myself by scratching at my temples. Although my legs shook, the witch's grip became firmer.

"Don't listen." I sounded broken and incorrect as I pushed the words out, my voice blending with hers. "Rowan, please help me."

I pushed him away with an uncontrollable burst of power as he reached for me. He moaned as he slammed against a wall, but he kept his eyes on me.

"I won't abandon you!" Rowan yelled. "I will drag you back, Amara—I don't care if we break up!"

Through me, the witch snarled. It's too late for you. Observe her disappear.

I screamed more inside, but my voice was muffled. Even my reflection in his eyes seemed unfamiliar, as the darkness in my eyes deepened.

Bleeding but unyielding, Rowan staggered on, his voice trembling. "Lilith, I don't care what you do to me. I promise that I will always pull her back.

I smiled, but tears were streaming down my cheeks. And I was still fighting somewhere deep. Claws are still present. Still pleading.

The witch detested that.

I felt electricity sparking from my fingertips as my body thrashed wildly. Everything shuddered around me. Notwithstanding the energy bursts striking him, Rowan attacked and pinned me to the ground.

"Amara! Remain with me! With his weight against mine, he yelled. "Do you hear me? You're not gone."

I let the witch's laughter escape my lips. "You're an idiot. She will break even while she screams. I'll kill you both with her hands.

Rowan snarled, "Not while I'm still breathing." Even if his arms trembled, he held on.

With wide eyes, Kian hurried in. He knelt next to us and whispered, "Moon Goddess." He touched my forehead with his hand.

"You dare not touch her!" My head snapped abruptly in his direction as the witch growled through me.

Kian ignored her and closed his eyes. His tone was steady but low. "Great Moon Goddess, keep your kid safe. Don't let the shadows engulf her. Let your light lead her back.

My body twitched more as the witch screamed through me. My bones ached as if they were about to break.

"Stop it!" My voice finally came out, faint and strained, and I cried from within. "Please... I am unable to—

"You can!" Rowan yelled over the commotion. He placed his forehead on mine. "You are not Lilith; you are Amara. You are your own property. Battle her!

The witch's strength tore through me as she battled harder. Blood tasted in my tongue. I felt my chest heave.

Kian's prayer became more forceful and louder. "Set her spirit free, goddess of fire and night. Feel her suffering. Put an end to the wicked.

The witch shrieked once more, but this time her voice was fierce. Weakening.

Then, miraculously, my voice broke through. My mouth quivered.

"Rowan."

His eyes expanded. "I'm present. Love, I'm right here.

"I can't hold it." My cheeks were wet with tears. "Death me. Please. Before she retakes me, put an end to it.

Rowan's grip tightened as he froze. "You dare not ask me that."

Kian's prayer came to a halt when his head snapped up. His eyes pierced my own. "No. Amara, you're not giving up. Compared to this witch, you are stronger.

The witch's chuckle, however, slithered back, weakened but still vicious. She pleads for her life. That proves I've already won.

Torn between two realities, my body shook. The darkness wanted me. The light drew me.

And with my voice cracking, all I could mutter was:

"Kill me... before it's too late.
