Chapter 55 Chapter 0055
Chapter 55 Chapter 0055
•RAVEN•
"Hmm..." I moaned as I inserted two fingers into my wet vagina, and closed my eyes. I let the image of the time Sebastian and I spent together guide me.
I could still remember how he fucked me until I felt as if I wouldn't be able to stand on my feet without staggering.
I leaned against the wall in the shower and tried to bite my lower lip so I wouldn't make too much noise as my orgasm approached.
I then imagined the broadness of his arms in his shirt when he came to the council hall the previous day.
It was so hard not to steal glances at him when he looked so good without trying. I thought of his veiny arms, his biceps, and his voice when he groaned in my ear.
My orgasm was so close to exploding when I heard a knock outside the bathroom door. I pushed away from the wall and rolled my eyes before I turned off the faucet.
"Luna, the Alpha wants to speak with you," Kira informed me outside the door. "He is waiting for you in the living room."
"Please tell him to give me five minutes!" I answered, grabbing a towel from the shower rail.
"Ugh," I groaned as I got out of the shower and went to change in the closet. My clothes were still in the bags, and I liked it like that.
I didn't plan to stay long in Blackwood. And whatever reason Tristan wanted to see me for, I hoped it had to do with the divorce.
He had probably thought things through and realized that he couldn't have his cake and eat it because he wanted to.
When I was done dressing up, I went out of the room and found Tristan waiting for me while standing.
He looked composed, as he always did. His eyes moved over me briefly when I appeared, and he said nothing about the five minutes that had stretched closer to fifteen.
"You wanted to see me," I muttered, already wishing that he had forwarded the message to Kira.
"Please come walk with me."
I almost laughed. "That's it? You asked for me so we could go out for a walk?" I scoffed. "Whatever was going on between us is over, Tristan. Or have you forgotten?"
"No, I haven't." His facial expression didn't change. "Come with me, and I insist."
I stared at him for a moment, then sighed and followed him out of the pack house into the pale morning.
I was still determined not to leave before the divorce papers were signed and I didn't want to stay for too long. Laura showed her worry about me still being in the pack house, so I didn't want to risk my life again.
"Where exactly are we going?" I asked, falling into step beside him.
He kept his eyes ahead. "You told me once that you were the backbone of this pack. That without everything you put in, things would have fallen apart."
"I said that you took my contributions for granted. That's different."
"That's not how I remember our conversation."
I rolled my eyes. "That's your own problem."
We walked in silence past the eastern garden and down the sloping path that wound toward the far edge of Blackwood's territory.
When Tristan finally stopped, we were standing at the outskirts, where the pack's territory met a long stretch of undeveloped land rolling out in both directions.
There were survey markers in the ground, clean white stakes with orange flags.
"What is this?" I asked.
"Yours," he answered. "Or it will be, in June."
I turned and looked at him.
"I closed a deal last quarter," he continued, looking out at the land. "With a prominent company in the human territories. It took eight months of negotiation and three failed attempts before they came to the table." He paused. "When it finally went through, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with part of it."
I didn't answer.
"I bought this land for you, Raven. As a gift. For after the contract annulment."
The orange flags moved in the wind. The land was beautiful and hearing that he bought it for me wasn't something I had expected.
"Tristan—"
"You were an extraordinary Luna," he replied, cutting me off. "I'm not sure I told you that enough, or at all. The way you handled the eastern families, the way you managed the council relations when I was dealing with the border dispute two winters ago." He turned then and looked at me directly. "I didn't do more than you, and you didn't do more than me. We complemented each other, and that's what made this pack what it is."
My chest tightened and my throat dried.
"That's the first time you've said that," I huffed. "We've been married for five years, but for five years, you've never acknowledged a single thing I did, except mock and belittle me."
"I know."
I looked back at the land. I thought about what I would do with it. Then I pulled myself back, because that wasn't the point. The point was what he was trying to do, and I needed to think clearly about it.
"Tristan, this doesn't change the papers."
"Rumi and I are over." He leaned closer. "It's done. I ended it."
I stared at him.
"I want to focus on our marriage," he continued. "On what we actually built together, not what fell apart around it. I think if we were honest with each other, really honest, we would both admit there is still something here worth the effort."
I opened my mouth, and the words were right there, lined up and ready, all of the things I had been rehearsing in the quiet hours of the past few days.
But before I could speak, quick footsteps cut through the grass behind us and a scout came to a stop a few feet away, breathless.
"Alpha. Luna." He bowed his head to each of us. "Please forgive me for the interruption. There is a visitor at the pack house."
Tristan frowned. "Who?"
"Mr. Krane, sir. He's asking for both of you."
