Chapter 49 Chapter 0049
•RAVEN•

I gasped when I opened my eyes. I felt disoriented for a moment and thought I was still in the forest. But when I looked around the place, I realized I was somewhere I wasn't supposed to be.

I sat up on the bed and looked at my clothes. I couldn't believe that I was in the guest room of the pack house in Blackwood pack.

It didn't make sense. Everything about waking up in that room felt wrong.

I moved there when Tristan and I broke up. And soon after that, I was banished and promised to be executed if I returned to the pack.

When I looked over the side of the bed, I saw the bags I had packed and placed them near the bed.

I felt even more confused.

I grabbed my cell phone from the pedestal counter and looked at the date.

It was the 29th of April. Which was two months before I lost everything.

I got up from the bed and inspected my body. It was just unbelievable and it didn't make sense how I had woken up to the day when I was banished and rejected by the man I thought would protect me.

I remembered everything that happened, and every event that led to my death. Losing a lot of blood and my pregnancy after the banishment, the bullet in my chest, and the trunk of Jerry's car on a road that led nowhere good.

I remembered all of it.

I didn't know why I kept coming back, but this time, it felt as if it was a second chance for me to do something differently and prevent everything that led to my multiple deaths.

My hand instantly moved to my lower stomach when I remembered that I was pregnant. I turned and grabbed the medic's note on the pedestal counter.

I was eight weeks pregnant.

Someone knocked on the door and I slipped the letter into the pocket of my dress.

"Yes? Come in," I said as I turned and looked at the door as it creaked open.

A scout walked in. "Luna," he said as he bowed his head. "You are being summoned to the council hall."

'We will leave this place soon, little bean,' I thought as my hand caressed my lower stomach. 'This time, I will keep you safe.'

"Tell them I am coming," I answered.

I didn't ask questions as the scout led me through the corridor. I already knew the answers. I had lived through this day once.

I had stood in that hall and watched Tristan choose his version of events over mine and I had said everything except the one thing that might have changed the shape of the morning.

I wouldn't make that mistake again.

My hand rested briefly at my stomach once more as we went down the main staircase.

'Mommy will protect you. And if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be free. Don't worry, you will get justice this time.'

The council hall had nine seats. The largest in the center was Tristan's. Then the Luna's chair, the Beta's, the Gamma's, the Delta's, and the four elders arranged on the left flank.

They were all seated when I entered. Only my chair stood empty. But I walked to the center and stood there, waiting for their trial.

Tristan's face hardened when he saw me.

I couldn't remember the last time I saw him and fell in love. I had been with someone else, and found out there were people better than Tristan.

But it felt good looking at him and feeling nothing. I didn't even want to imagine what it was like being his wife. But since I died before he could sign the divorce papers, I wanted to make sure he signed them this time.

Elder Malrik began. "Raven, you stand accused of trying to harm the Alpha by endangering his life. According to the laws of this pack, such behavior is treason and has severe consequences."

I didn't answer or argue. I kept my hands clapsed in front of me, thinking of the last time I was standing there, frightened, and wondering why Tristan lied about what happened.

I knew he had never loved me, but it didn't even suit me to put his life in danger when I was only an omega to him and the pack.

I didn't have the strength to kill him even if I had wanted to end his miserable life.

Elder Saphira leaned forward on the table. "The Alpha has told us that you refused to sign the divorce papers because you don't want to lose your title as the Luna. And when he insisted that the marriage was broken, you struck him so hard that he stumbled against his home office desk."

I stepped forward and sighed before I answered them, knowing their minds had already concluded what they wanted to do to me.

"Before this council proceeds any further, there is something you need to know."

Elder Malrik's expression tightened. "Luna Raven, the time for—"

"I am carrying the Alpha's child."

Silence fell over the hall. The elders looked at each other, shocked.

Tristan stood up from his chair. His eyebrows knitted and I could almost feel his racing heartbeat against his chest.

"This council is adjourned," Tristan said as he leaned toward me. "No one should be in the hall. I want to speak with the Luna alone."

The elders didn't say a word as they looked at each other and shook their heads. They didn't even look at me as they walked out of the hall.

The guards who were waiting for the command to cast me out of the pack, walked out as well.

And then it was only the two of us.

Tristan stepped forward until he was only a few inches from me. I didn't even flinch or move when I felt his hot breath against my skin.

He looked at me for a long moment without speaking.

Then he leaned forward, lowering his voice. "Why did you keep this from me, Raven?"
