Chapter 25
"Wakie Wakie."
I recognized that voice that whispered by my ear. That honey scent which greeted my nostrils for a brief second, they were enough to jerk me from my beautiful sleep. Rather I turned on my bed, pulling the blanket so I could get my sleep back.
"Kevin wake up!" Claire pitched as she strolled to our wardrobe.
"What time is it?" I grumbled, still reluctant to open my eyes. I clung unto my pillow, imagining it was her for a split second.
"This is past six."
"Past six? It's too early." I replied in a faint tone. "Claire come back to bed." I whispered already feeling my sleep returning. I usually wake up by ten or eleven in the morning but this past few days had seemed to differ.
"This is not the time Kevin. We have a long day ahead of us." She stated lucidly. My eyes faintly opened to see my mate wearing a casual blue top over her white pair of trousers.
"Today's just like any other day." I mumbled.
"Don't tell me you've forgotten Simon, the Alpha of Red Rose Pack would be visiting today?" She queried. The sleep in my eyes instantly vanished. My head had finally booted enough to remind me I was going to meet a prestigious Alpha. How could I have forgotten?!
I alighted from the bed briskly while Claire eyed me.
"So, it's now you remember?"
I rubbed through my messy hair frantically, perhaps my worry for Aunt Flora overnight caused my forgetfulness.
She smiled.
"Get a bath and DRESS WELL, you don't wanna make a bad impression." Her voice tousled my thoughts.
I scoffed.
"Like I care about impression."
"Kevin!" She toned as she neared me. I wondered how she had managed to get dressed and look this dazzling.
"Do this for your Pack. This is your first official meeting with an outsider, you have to be on your best behavior as possible."
I rolled my eyes; there she goes with her talks. She seemed to be taking this meeting more serious than I did. Perhaps due to her Luna position.
"Kev, promise me." She held my cheek softly.
"I promise. Can I have my bath now?" I said feigning a smile to ease her impending worries.
"Yes you can." She wore a bright smile before pecking my cheek. I heaved a sigh as I wobbled into the bathroom. All I could think of throughout my bath was Aunt Flora and Alpha Simon. Although Gabriel and Claire had mentioned his visit could possibly be seeking alliance or partnership, I still didn't buy the idea. Our Packs are both flourishing so I see no need for any alliances.
Left for me, I would have declined his visitation but for Gabriel and Claire who were curious and a bit ecstatic. My thoughts drifted to Aunt Flora. She had been unconscious for several hours last night, I only hoped today came with a blessing.
"I need the seats to be properly arranged! Decorations should ensue now. The flowers outside should be well trimmed, and the meal should be top notch!" I heard Claire's voice pitch outside my room. Another heavy sigh escaped my breaths. Why was she like this? It was only a meeting not a grand party of some sorts.
I sauntered to our wardrobe, uninterestingly picking through my clothes. And after minutes of long deliberation, I chose to wear a brown oversize T-Shirt over a pair of matching baggy trousers. I left my hair perfectly tousled as I dried them, causing few strands to dance across my eyes.
I gave the full length mirror a cold look before assuring myself, I was ready. I gingerly stepped outside, touring across the hallways till I reached the staircase where my mate elegantly stood. Her legs rocked her blue stilettos like it was an extension of her body. Immediately she saw me, her face expressed clear disappointments. She paced towards me and without letting me say a word dragged me back into our room.
"You're definitely not meeting Alpha Simon dressed like this!" She declared as she slammed the door behind her.
"Why not?! Isn't this good enough?" I retorted with a frown.
"No, it's not! It's bad. It's bad Kevin!" She retorted and then walked past me toward our wardrobe where she hastily searched through my wardrobe like a pro.
"What's your favorite color?" She asked with her gaze still on my clothes, but I remained mute.
"Kevin." She called with a glare directed at me.
"It's brown." I replied.
"I can see that already." She pointed before returning to my clothes. I could have complained she was taking things too extreme, but she would obviously try to coarse me with,
"Do this for your Pack."
"Now this is the perfect outfit!" She beamed as she pulled out a checkered blue and white shirt complemented with a pair of black Jeans and a white sneaker.
"This is the best I could find, but seriously though you need to change your wardrobe style." She muttered while she approached me. "So, what do you think?" She wore her smile again.
"It's wonderful, look at us, wearing matching outfits." I feigned a smile before relieving the clothes off her hands. I pulled my shirt off, but she turned away, obviously trying not to gawk. Thankfully, I wasn't in the mood either, so I briskly changed into this outfit.
Her lips spread into a smile of admiration once I finished. She busied herself combing my messy hair with her hands till it settled to her own taste. Then pulled me towards the mirror, standing beside me with a grin.
"Now this is how you should look like." She chirped.
I smiled as a sharp wave of excitement coursed through me.
"And this is how my Luna should look like." I turned her to me, resting my hands on her waist while she curled her arms around my neck. Both of us enchanted in each other's eyes.
"You look dazzling."
She blushed.
"I thought you weren't going to complement my dress."
"I was but you didn't give me the chance." We chuckled.
"I know you're only forcing yourself to do all this because of me, Gabriel and your Pack. Thank you."
"You're right." I agreed. "But my Luna needs me to be a responsible Alpha not some ruffian. Besides, if I wanna be a good leader then I should be getting used to new lifestyles like this."
"Are you scared?" She asked in a whisper.
"Maybe a little." I admitted.
"We're doing this together." She assured before placing a tender kiss on my lips. I kept on staring at her dazzling Honey irises. She was perfect. Claire was the perfect mate I needed in my life.
"Come on, let's see how Aunt Flora is faring."
And so, we both eased through the door. With every step I took, anxiety took stride in me. Perhaps I was scared of what condition I would meet my Aunt in. Claire turned the doorknob letting the warm air inside stream across my faces. As we ushered ourselves in, I found Uncle Walker seated by her bedside and the Pack Doctor focused on the injection in her hands. Then my eyes fell on Aunt Flora herself, seated on the bed whilst staring at me with a confused expression.
"Aunt Flora." I mumbled but her frown deepened.
"Who are you?" She asked in her soft voice and I swallowed the saliva down my throat. I glanced at Uncle Walker's worried face then to the Doctor. Her temporary memory loss wasn't gone yet, and it scared me. It made me ponder how long she would live like this.
"I'm your nephew. Kevin." I muttered as I joined Uncle Walker, but she kept on scrutinizing me trying to remember.
"Don't worry, Aunt Flora. I promise you'll be fine." I soothed while I held her right hand between mine.
"I promise." I whispered dearly hoping the moon goddess would answer my prayers.
There was a gentle knock on the door before it opened quietly.
"Kevin, Alpha Simon is here." Gabriel sternly stated. I nodded while he left quietly. I heaved a sigh as I stared at Claire who encouraged me with a smile. It was now or never.
"I'll be back." I said to my aunt before leaving with my mate.
"Wait!" Uncle Walker suddenly blared behind us.
"You two are not going there alone." He stated.
"Yeah, My Beta is with me too." I answered.
"I'm coming along."
"Uncle Walker," I tried to convince him to stay back but he cut me off.
"There is no Nay here. The three of you are young and this is your first meeting. I don't want you guys making reckless decisions for our Pack. So, I'll be the adult here, supervising. Is that okay?"
Claire and I exchanged glances before nodding in agreement. As we toured down the stairs to the living room, there I found my Beta welcoming Alpha Simon of Red Rose Pack alongside his associates. Judging by his looks, he was probably a few years older than me and yet his Pack had achieved greatness under his rule. His hair was low cut with a few beards to spare. He had a large rose tattoo imprinted on the left side of his neck and above all his grey irises which told nothing but cunningness. I for one, easily disliked him. Yet I faked a smile as I approached him.
"Alpha Simon." I muttered with a superficial wide grin while I extended my hand.
He collected my hand, his grip firm and strong but not enough to dominate me.
"Alpha Kevin." He chorused in the same mannerism and I frowned.
"How do you know I'm the new Alpha?" I blurted and he laughed.
"Greenville is second to Moonsville. Whatever happens here, the news spreads fast."
I flashed him a tiny smile before darting my eyes to his associates. A fair young lady who eyed me like a seductress and a young man whose face was relatively more innocent.
"Please meet my Beta, Gerald." He pointed to his left while I extended my hand for a shake. "And this is Lucy, my Delta." She winked at me, but I shrugged her off.
"Nice to meet you all." I spoke. "This is Gabriel, my Beta. Walker, my—" I pursed my lips looking for the right words to use. "My counselor."
"And who is this beautiful lady by your side?" Alpha Simon cut me off, his eyes clearly expressing desire for my woman. Anger and jealousy easily ignited. I curled my left hand around Claire's waist who was smiling sweetly at Simon.
"I'm Claire, Kevin's Luna." She eloquently muttered.
"Hmm nice to meet you, miss Claire." He took her left hand before placing a tender kiss. "But you haven't been marked yet." He added and my palms curled into a fist. Rage was burning my insides but for everyone there I tried to subdue it. How dare he kiss my mate?!
"Why don't we put My Luna's mark asides and let's move to business." I politely muttered through gritted teeth.
"Of course!" He smiled.
"Shall we?" I gestured to the large luxurious dining room where various assortments of meals were already arranged by Rose and other Deltas.
"I hope you had a splendid journey, Alpha Simon." Gabriel asked as we all took our respective seats. I sat at the edge while Simon took the other end. I took a plate of Bacon, egg, and creamed spinach.
"I did, Thank you." He replied courteously but all I wanted to do was throw this fork in my hands at his face.
"So how did you find Greenville so far?" Claire asked.
"Beautiful." He replied, his eyes once again reviewing my mate lustfully. "More Beautiful than I remembered."
"You've been to this Pack before." She muttered in amazement.
"Countless occasions, Claire." He answered. "Greenville is very peaceful you know, it's the perfect Pack to find joy. But I mostly come here for the ladies though, they're the perfect—"
I cleared my throat cutting his useless talk midway.
"It's an honor to have you here, Alpha Simon except I don't know why you're here."
He dropped his cutlery gently then he took a gentle sip of his red wine.
"I came here in hope for a partnership deal between your Pack and mine." He pursed his lips while his eyes darted to Claire again. "Greenville is known for their magical herbs and mine is known for our artistic weapons, so I propose we do a little exchange. What do you think?"
My palms curled into a fist underneath the table, all through he was just busy, lusting after my mate. I couldn't take it anymore, the fury in me had exploded beyond my limits.
"Are you sure you're here for a partnership deal or you're here for my Mate?" I almost growled.
"Excuse me?" He arched his eyebrows upwards while his smile vanished.
"Um, what Kevin means is that—" Uncle Walker tried to say but I interjected.
"You heard me." I gave him a deadly look.
"Kevin, be calm." Claire hushed beside me, but I blatantly ignored her, Gabriel and Uncle Walker's faces pleading me not do something foolish.
"How dare you insult me?" He growled and my infuriation picked on a higher note.
"And how dare you insult me too?!" I roared as I arose sharply, banging my fist on the glassy table causing every cutlery to tremble. "All through you were busy looking at my mate like she's yours! Are you mad?!"
"Watch your tongue, Kevin! I am an Alpha of a reputable Pack." He arose too with threatening glare.
"Reputable Pack or not, This is my Pack and as far as I'm concerned you and your pathetic weaklings are just mere guest!" I retorted ferociously.
"Kevin!" Claire pitched but I ignored once again.
"In fact, this meeting is over, Leave!" I yelled.
"I've heard about you," he chuckled in a mocking mannerism. "But I thought this madness of yours would have relatively lessened since you became an Alpha. You're a fool, Kevin!"
And that was it, my eyes transformed into a sparkling shade of red. I sped towards him in a flash, dashing his cheek a resounding slap. The impact alone thudded him to the floor and his Beta, Gerald tried to hit me.
My swift reflexes easily dodged his blow and I rewarded him with a punch across his cheek. Blood spluttered from his mouth as he fell to the ground.
"Kevin please stop!" Gabriel begged but rather I grabbed Alpha Simon's collar roughly. Raising him to my face, the stench of fear reeked off him as he quivered in horror of my eyes.
"In fact, you have overstayed your welcome!" I blared and dragged him like an animal he was. As we reached outside, I flung him to his limo with ease. He crashed to through his car windshield.
"The next time you step into this Pack again, I promise to rip your head off!" I proclaimed in the most devilish tone my chords could offer.
As I was about to saunter in, Gerald alongside Lucy trotted out of mansion to their ruined limo like rats.
"I'm giving you all twenty minutes to leave this Pack or else you want to be fed to the birds!"
I gave a knowing glance to my guards before sauntering inside the building.
There I found Uncle Walker wriggling his head, Gabriel speechless and Claire, disappointed.
My eyes reverted back to its Hazel and only now did I realize the damaged I've done.
I was going to be roasted.
