Chapter 123 Official News
Several weeks had passed since my birthday, and now I was a confident and proud owner of my own business—more precisely, my very own line of cosmetics and skincare products.
Of course, my brand wasn’t on store shelves yet; these things don’t happen overnight. Right now, I’m drowning in organizational tasks: hiring staff, selecting suppliers of raw materials (in this regard, I’m incredibly lucky that the Yartsevs are among them), choosing a facility, a lab, and juggling a mountain of other details.
But I’m so happy with what I’m doing that I feel as if wings have grown on my back! I spend less time sitting at home with nothing to do now. Sure, there’s always something to do at home, but getting out of the house is incredibly healthy—especially mentally.
Although, naturally, Kirill managed to twist this situation to his advantage. Since my cosmetic line will be produced using IncorpMedyar’s equipment and resources, the company is the primary entity. I’m just a small branch under it. Which means I, ultimately, report to Kirill—just like any other department.
Which means he’s my boss, who will be very attentively overseeing my business (read: monitoring me). So, a personal office for me is already being prepared right next to his, after he nudged the sales department down a floor!
But honestly—who am I to complain? I’ll get to keep an eye on whoever visits him and for what reason too!
Today, while I was in Kirill’s office discussing various details about my business, Mr. Yartsev walked in—and he looked… rather agitated and strange. What surprised us even more was that Yartsev Sr. urgently invited us to his home for a family dinner that evening. Later we found out that we weren’t the only ones summoned—Nazar was already on his way to the capital too.
After returning home, resting a bit, and freshening up, we gathered the kids and headed to Oleg’s residence. Nazar’s car drove through the gates right behind ours, and he helped us with the children.
“What do you think he wants to talk about?” I asked the brothers, who only shrugged.
“Maybe father finally decided to step back from business and dump everything on Kirill,” Nazar speculated. “Though in that case, why the hell am I here?”
“Or maybe he found the perfect bride for you and is planning to get you married,” Kirill laughed, teasing his twin. “Or maybe you’ve got some unaccounted-for children somewhere?”
“I’m not as careless as you,” Nazar shot back as we walked inside.
The moment we crossed the threshold, a pleasant smell of homemade food drifted from the dining room.
Hearing that we had arrived, the master of the house stepped out to greet us. His face was lit with a delighted, genuinely happy smile—something that had recently become almost a mythical occurrence.
“You’re here,” he said, pulling us into a hug, and we all exchanged bewildered glances.
“Dad, did something happen?” Kirill couldn’t hold back.
“Just don’t tell me you’re terminally ill and have suddenly begun appreciating life’s little joys,” Nazar muttered suspiciously, tense.
“No,” Oleg immediately sobered, his expression turning serious. “I simply have important news for you. And I hope you’ll receive it well.”
We walked into the dining room, where an absolutely magnificent table was set—filled with all sorts of delicious dishes. And judging by the looks of it, the food wasn’t from a restaurant, nor prepared by professional chefs. We took our seats, settling the boys at their little children’s table.
“I’ve gathered you here because I wanted to tell you that I have a woman in my life,” Yartsev Sr. decided not to beat around the bush and laid everything out bluntly.
“And since when do you feel the need to officially notify us about your flings? I dragged myself all the way from Kremenchuk, you know,” Nazar grumbled, staring seriously at his father.
“Because this is my first official woman… since your mother,” for a moment, I saw sorrow flicker in his eyes. “But life doesn’t stop, and I have to move forward.”
Honestly, I was happy for Mr. Yartsev, though a part of me felt a little sad for Valentina. Maybe this sudden urgency in starting a relationship appeared after she showed up at my birthday with another man—maybe that wounded his pride. But he’s an adult, and it’s his right to make his own decisions.
