Chapter 16 The Other Curse

Chapter 16 The Other Curse
When Klishei regained consciousness, she struggled sitting up because her feet and hands were tied. Her eyes wandered around and realized she was inside a tent.

No matter how much she tried, she could not get up. They had bound her wrists at her back. Her ankles were also tightly wound together with a rope so tight she felt that her skin was bruised. She was tied like an animal.

It was the pain digging in her flesh that jolted her awake. Tears formed at the corner of her eyes as she whimpered. The ropes were killing her.

She heard the tent flap part. Klishei did not have to roll over her body to the entrance to see who it was because he immediately spoke.

“You’re finally up,” Daevar said.

Klishei stifled her cries. “It hurts.” She could not take it anymore. The burning sensation of her skin heightened even with just her breathing.

Daevar inspected the ropes and sighed. “My bad. You’re actually bleeding.”

He loosened them a bit. Although it still stung, it was a big relief for Klishei. But just after a few moments, the pain became persistent.

“So you finally know who you are, Klishei?” He cupped her cheek, making her look at him. Klishei never liked his touch even back at school, especially now that he was before her as her kidnapper and an enemy.

“Keep your hands off me,” she fiercely said.

“You would be careful to not test me, Klishei. I just loosened your ropes a bit and now you bite at me. Well, not that it matters since you’re mine already.” Daevar became aggressive in his hold on her chin.

“I will never be yours,” she declared.

Daevar laughed. “Sorry, I got excited. You’re right, for now. But soon, whether you like it or not, you will be mine.”

“What do you mean soon?”

He smirked, leaning close to her face. “My dear innocent Klishei, tomorrow night will be our wedding ceremony, the day that I mark you.”

She remembered what Yeseus said, about how werewolves mark their partners to become their mates.

“No, you won’t!”

“It’s not whether or not you like it, Klishei. But you will be my mate.” His eyes searched her lustfully. “Tomorrow, I will make sure to wipe off all traces of Yeseus in your body. You will feel so good that you will forget you ever met him. Oh, Klishei, I’ve waited for almost a hundred years for you.”

She evaded his kiss. His lips landed on her neck. Daevar sniffed her, licking her navel.

“No!” Klishei screamed.

“I’m tempted to have sex with you right now but the moon is not yet out and I will not receive any nourishment without it being a witness. Yet your squirming and showing off your skin. Is that what you’re doing? Are you deliberately tempting me, pretending to be all innocent and clueless when you are actually enjoying this?”

Daevar’s hands traveled from her calf to her thighs, exposing her legs as he lifted her skirt. Klishei moved her body but he placed himself on top of her, preventing her from struggling.

“You’re being naughty, my love.” Daevar’s voice sounded like he was being enchanted. Klishei’s shirt was lifted a little, showing her stomach. His Adam's apple bobbed as his eyes scanned her body.

“It’s futile to struggle. I can take you right here just for my enjoyment even if I will not be recharged but I'm being considerate with your current situation. I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable. But I'm already telling you this early. You will bear my children and you will give me the power of the Phoenix. Klishei, we will rule the world together.”

Klishei could only cry. “Daevar, please, just stop. Please, just let me go. I don’t want to be here. I don’t want you.”

Her last sentence stopped Daevar in his attempt to kiss her. His hands retreated from her body.

“What did you say?” His tone was dangerous. But Klishei saw this as an opportunity to piss him off, anything to cut him off from staring at her body.

“I said I don’t want you. I only want Yeseus!”

Whether it was the only thing that crossed her mind or maybe she meant it, she did not have enough time to process it because his fist was fast to land on her chest.

The force knocked out her breath. She coughed and gasped after, feeling the impact of his punch all over her body.

“Don’t you dare speak his name in front of me!” Daevar stood, his eyes on fire.

Klishei was still recovering when Daevar gathered a fistful of her shirt and pulled her to him. “That traitor is doomed, you know that? And he will drag you along to his hell. You think you got the jackpot just because he is an Alpha?”

“And who are you to speak of him like that?” Klishei defended.

“Wait,” Daevar’s voice calmed down a bit. “Something is telling me that he did not tell you about his curse.”

“He did. He was honest with me but I know his side. He did it because he wanted to correct your wrongdoings. You werewolves used us as your playthings. He rescued humanity.”

Daevar blinked before laughing. “That son of bitch. Of course, he won’t tell you about his other curse.”

Klishei squinted her eyebrows. “What do you mean?”

“Poor Klishei, being left in the dark. My dear, all of Yeseus’ previous partners met the same fate. Every woman that he liked died in mysterious ways. Some lived for days after being intimate with him, others weeks. But no woman lasted for a month.”
