Chapter 187 One Hundred And Eighty Seven

Chapter 187 One Hundred And Eighty Seven
Sofia didn't leave the building immediately.
The moment she stepped outside, she walked several feet away from the entrance and stopped beside her car.
Her heart was still racing.
The image of Kennedy and Antonia's son sitting frightened on that couch refused to leave her mind.
She looked back at the building.
Daniel had completely lost control.
And Sofia wanted absolutely no part of it.
For the first time in a very long time, she felt genuine fear.
Not for Daniel.
For herself.
If the police got involved, and they would, everyone connected to this situation would be investigated.
Questions would be asked.
Phones checked.
Messages recovered.
She couldn't afford that.
No.
She needed to separate herself from this immediately.
And perhaps...
A small smile touched her lips.
Perhaps this could also be an opportunity.
An opportunity to repair some of the damage between herself and Kennedy.
After all, if she helped him find his son...
Surely he would see she wasn't the villain everyone believed she was.
Surely he would finally appreciate her.
Maybe not as a lover.
But at least not as an enemy.
Sofia pulled out her phone.
She scrolled to Kennedy's number.
Her thumb hovered above the call button.
"I'm doing the right thing," she murmured.
Then she pressed, but before the call could connect, her phone suddenly rang in her hand.
Sofia froze.
The screen lit up.
Her eyes widened.
Kennedy.
For a moment she simply stared at it.
The timing was almost unbelievable.
Then quickly she answered.
"Kennedy."
His voice came through immediately.
Cold.
Sharp.
Urgent.
"Sofia."
Something in his tone made her stand straighter.
He sounded furious.
Dangerously furious.
"I need to see you."
Sofia blinked.
"You do?"
"Now."
There was no room for argument.
No room for negotiation.
Just a demand.
Sofia swallowed.
"I was actually about to call you."
A brief silence followed.
Then Kennedy spoke.
"Why?"
She glanced back toward the building again.
Then lowered her voice.
"Because I know something."
Another pause.
Longer this time.
"What kind of something?"
Sofia looked around carefully before answering.
"The kind that involves your son."
The line went completely silent.
For several seconds she thought the call had disconnected.
Then she heard Kennedy inhale sharply.
"What did you say?"
"I know where he is."
The words exploded through the line.
Instantly.
Violently.
"Sofia."
His voice had changed.
Completely changed.
Every word now sounded like a threat.
"Start talking."
"I can't explain everything over the phone."
"You don't seem to understand the situation."
His voice became deadly calm.
"If you're playing games with me right now—"
"I'm not."
Sofia cut him off quickly.
"I'm serious."
Silence.
Then:
"Tell me."
"I found Daniel."
Kennedy's grip tightened around his phone.
Across town, he was standing beside his car outside Helen's house.
His face had gone pale.
"What about him?"
Sofia looked over her shoulder once more.
Making sure nobody was nearby.
Then she spoke quietly.
"Daniel has your son."
The words landed like a bomb.
Kennedy stopped breathing.
For one terrifying second.
Then rage exploded through him.
Pure rage.
His son.
Daniel had his son.
Nelson, who was standing nearby, immediately noticed the change in his friend's expression.
"What happened?" he asked.
Kennedy ignored him completely.
His attention remained fixed on the call.
"Sofia."
His voice trembled with fury.
"Tell me exactly where he is."
"I will."
"But we need to meet."
Kennedy nearly lost his temper.
"No."
"Kennedy—"
"No."
His voice thundered through the phone.
"You tell me now."
Sofia flinched.
Even from miles away.
The panic in his voice was unmistakable.
And suddenly she realized just how dangerous this situation had become.
"I will send you the location."
"Send it now!"
"But you need to act fast, he's planning on moving."
Kennedy's heart pounded.
"When?"
"Very soon"
"Damn it."
Sofia quickly continued.
"But you can't do this alone, Kennedy."
Kennedy said nothing.
"Get the police."
Kennedy's jaw tightened.
"I'm finding it hard to believe that your help is genuine."
His words stung.
Because she knew she didn't deserve his trust.
Not after everything.
"I know you're finding it difficult to trust me."
Her voice softened.
"But your son deserves to come home."
That shut him up.
For a moment.
Then Kennedy finally spoke.
"Send the location, I will be there with the police soon."
"Okay."
Kennedy suddenly spoke calmly.
"Thank you, Sofia."
"Get your son first, then you can thank me later."
The call ended.
Sofia slowly lowered the phone.
Her heart hammered violently inside her chest.
For several seconds she simply stood there.
Trying to calm herself.
Trying to breathe.
Trying not to think about what she had just done.
Then she glanced back toward the warehouse one last time.
Toward the building where Daniel still sat with the frightened little boy.
A little boy who wanted his mother.
A little boy who wanted his father.
This was the first time in months that she made a decision that wasn't motivated by jealousy.
Or revenge.
Or obsession.
And she felt proud about herself.
She got into her car.
Started the engine.
And drove away.
Whether Daniel liked it or not...
The game was over.
And Kennedy Walton was coming for his son.
