Chapter: Lake of Elysium
"Sit here for a moment," Luca said, guiding Belinda to sit on a large rock. He touched her shoulder and cast a healing spell on his wife.
Luca looked at Belinda with great attention as he began to recite the healing incantation. A soft aura enveloped them, and a warm feeling spread from his palms to her shoulder. "You must be tired," he said gently, trying to offer calm amid the sorrow they were facing.
Belinda closed her eyes, allowing the magic to sink in. "Thank you, Luca. You’re always by my side," she replied softly. Instantly, the weight on her shoulders felt lighter, and a revival of spirit began to take hold.
"I don’t want you to get hurt," Luca said, smiling despite the worry in his eyes. "We will get through this together."
Belinda opened her eyes, and their gazes met deeply. "Yes, together. As long as we stand by each other, we can overcome anything." She smiled, realizing that the power of their love could conquer any obstacle.
"Now, rest for a moment. We have a long journey ahead," Luca said, holding her hand tightly, feeling the strength returning to Belinda.
"We need to head to the sacred lake soon," Belinda said.
"Do you feel better?" Luca asked.
"Yes, I think I feel better now. We don’t have much time left," Belinda replied.
"Alright. Let’s go now to Lake Elysium to take the essence from the sacred lake," Luca said, which Belinda answered with a nod.
Luca picked up Belinda and spread his wide, powerful wings. With a graceful movement, Luca took off into the air, lifting Belinda in his arms. The wind gently blew, carrying them away from their previous location, heading toward Lake Elysium. Belinda could feel every breath Luca took, and the calmness accompanying it seemed to erase all the pain that had been troubling her.
"Luca, what if we’re too late?" Belinda asked, a bit worried, though her voice was calm.
"We won’t be late. I’ll make sure we get there on time," Luca replied confidently. He kept his gaze fixed on the direction ahead. His wings beat strongly, propelling them faster, soaring through the bright red sky.
Moments later, the panorama of Lake Elysium became visible. Its waters sparkled like jewels, surrounded by towering trees. "We’re almost there," Luca said with enthusiasm.
Belinda could feel her heart beating faster. "The essence of the sacred lake lies at the bottom, protected by rare creatures. We’ll need to dive," Luca said, thinking about the important mission they were on.
"Rare creatures?" Belinda asked, slightly hesitant. "Are you sure we can face them? We need a strategy."
Luca nodded, though doubt lingered at the edge of his heart. "Yes, they may be powerful creatures, but we must stay calm. Our courage will guide us. The essence is the only way to restore your strength."
Luca looked intently into the depths of the lake, observing the faint movements beneath the surface. "If we have to dive, we need to be prepared. I can protect you with my magic. My wings can also help you stay close to me," he said, determination clear in his eyes.
"Good. We should dive together, so we don’t get separated," Belinda said, feeling courage welling up inside her. They both took a deep breath, readying themselves before leaping into the clear, cold water.
As they plunged into the lake, the water surrounded them, and slowly, the depth revealed a new world. Soft light pierced the water, guiding them deeper. There, among the shimmering algae and passing fish, Belinda could feel the presence of the creatures that guarded the lake.
"Stay safe!" Luca’s warning broke the silence as they saw a large shadow gracefully moving among the rocks at the lake’s bottom.
Quickly, two large creatures resembling giant crocodiles—almost like Godzilla—appeared, frightening with their sharp teeth and spiked, scaly backs.
The two creatures glided toward them, their scales shimmering as if coated with gemstones. Both revealed sharp eyes, full of curiosity.
Belinda held her breath, feeling the tension spread through her body as the two large creatures emerged from the shadows of the lake's depths. With every movement, the water reflected the light from their glittering scales, creating the illusion that they were surrounded by starlight at the lake's bottom.
"This is worse than I imagined," Belinda whispered, trying to calm herself. "We need to be very careful."
Luca watched closely, sensing the tension flowing between them. "I’ll project an illusion around us to distract them," he said, chanting a protective spell. Around them, light began to shimmer, forming a faint shadow that resembled large fish leaping at the water's surface, drawing the creatures’ attention.
"We have to get the essence before they notice us," Belinda whispered.
Luca nodded, his heart racing. They both understood the risks they were taking, but the hope of saving the planet gave them strength. Luca raised his hand, and with a spell, summoned winds that spiraled and whirled around them.
As the two giant crocodile-like creatures were distracted, Belinda dove deeper, her eyes fixed on the glowing light beneath. The essence of the sacred lake awaited, and together with Luca, they would fight to reach it.
With agility, Luca landed at the edge of the lake. They both descended, and Belinda could feel the magic in the surrounding environment. "I can feel its energy," Belinda said, her eyes sparkling.
"Let's get the essence before it’s too late," Luca reminded, extending his hand, guiding Belinda toward the shimmering water. They knew that the decision they were about to make could change the fate of many beings.
As the creatures remained distracted, Belinda seized the opportunity. "When they’re distracted, we have to move quickly toward the light. I’m sure the essence is shining at the bottom," she pointed to the light that seemed to call them deeper.
"You dive straight down, I’ll keep the creatures off," Luca said.
"Got it," Belinda replied, glancing at the creatures, who seemed more focused on the illusion of movement and sound.
They dived deeper, swimming swiftly and steadily toward the gleaming light. As they drew closer, the water’s currents changed, as if energy was radiating from the lake’s bottom.
However, suddenly, one of the creatures turned, sensing their proximity. Its sharp teeth bared, and a roar echoed across the lake, creating a vibration that made the water tremble around them.
"Luca!" Belinda screamed, fear washing over her.
"Don’t be afraid! Trust me!" Luca replied, preparing protective magic around them. He swung his arm, creating a transparent barrier that enveloped them, shielding them from the attack.
With the remaining courage she had, Belinda focused on the light growing nearer. "We need to hurry, we can't let them stop us now!" she cried out.
They pressed on, maneuvering quickly to avoid the giant creature’s attack. Each beat of Belinda's heart quickened the flow of her blood, her determination to obtain the essence growing stronger.
"Look! Over there!" Belinda shouted, pointing to the light now shining brightly between the rocks. With one final push, they both tried to reach the essence of the sacred lake before the creatures noticed them.
"I’ll call the winds to help divert their attention," Luca whispered again. "Once they’re distracted, you go straight to the bottom."
Luca summoned wind magic around them, gathering energy in his fingers. "Now, get ready!" he shouted, directing his hand toward the giant creatures. A gust of wind swirled past the two massive crocodiles, whose sharp eyes watched closely. The wind’s power made large fish leap to the surface, creating a ruckus in the water.
The creatures turned, distracted by the noise and movement above. "Go, Belinda!" Luca shouted, and in an instant, they both dove deeper.
Belinda felt her heartbeat race faster, but all the fear was replaced by determination. She fixed her gaze on the light shining below, getting closer to her target. The rocks around her felt slippery, but she pressed on, merging with the flow of water and the protective magic Luca had cast around them.
"I can see it!" Belinda shouted, her eyes bright as she spotted the glowing essence at the lake’s bottom. The light was so mesmerizing, it seemed to pull her toward it. "Just a little more!"
Suddenly, a rumbling sound shattered the peace beneath the surface. One of the giant creatures realized they were diving toward the light. A deafening roar echoed, creating a tremor that startled both Belinda and Luca.
"Luca, we have to hurry!" Belinda shouted, glancing behind as the creature tried to close the distance between them.
"No time to back down!" Luca replied, strengthening the protective magic around them. "But we need to distract them even further!"
With a powerful swing of his arm, Luca created a second, more forceful wave of wind. It swept in all directions, slamming against the lake’s surface and sending a tidal wave toward the creature, which seemed to be knocked off balance by the whirlpool.
"Now!" Luca shouted, signaling Belinda to dive straight down.
Belinda pushed forward, feeling a surge of energy within herself. With complete focus, she swam toward the light, growing ever closer. At the same time, she used her index finger to channel energy from deep within, feeling the strength and warmth of the essence she was about to reach.
But the giant creature refused to give up easily. One of them turned and swung its tail, creating a massive wave behind Belinda.
"Belinda, quick! Grab it and swim to the surface!" Luca shouted, tension in his voice.
With all her might, Belinda reached out, and as if answering her call, the light began to shine even brighter. She felt its essence connect with her, and in an instant, the sparkling essence was in her hand, filling her with an incredible surge of energy.
"Almost there!" Luca shouted, fiercely protecting Belinda. "It’s time to retreat before the creature attacks!"
Both of them quickly headed for the surface, carrying the shining essence, their hearts full of hope that it would restore Belinda's strength and save the planet in space.
