Chapter 53 ~ Mount Luminous

"So, this is Mount Luminous," Belinda said, observing the hot atmosphere of the mountain, akin to standing atop an active volcano. The landscape was filled with dry trees and barren soil.

"The situation here is dire," Luca remarked as he stood beside Belinda.

This time, they had come alone, without any companions. Orion and the warlord Ares were already in space, working together to protect Earth and Mars.

Belinda and Luca surveyed their surroundings, feeling the unusual atmosphere of Mount Luminous. The scorching heat and the sight of withered trees seemed to signal that the mountain harbored deeper troubles.

"It seems like this isn't just a case of climate change," Belinda said as she pulled a weather-monitoring device from her bag. "There's something strange going on here."

Luca nodded in agreement. "Maybe it's undetected volcanic activity. We need to find out the source of this heat."

They continued their journey cautiously, stepping over cracked and brittle ground. As they neared the peak, a rumbling sound began to echo.

"Did you hear that?" Luca asked, pausing momentarily to hold his breath.

"Yes, it sounds like something is preparing to erupt," Belinda replied.

The two exchanged looks. They knew this mission was about more than just them— the fate of two planets rested on their next steps.

"We need to locate the Guardian of Light and obtain the light for the Life Crystal as soon as possible," Belinda said.

"Come with me," Luca said as he wrapped Belinda in his arms, spreading his broad black wings. With a powerful beat, he soared into the air, carrying her as he searched for the Guardian's whereabouts.

Belinda felt the cool breeze as Luca lifted her higher. A mix of fear and hope swirled within her. "Luca, are you sure we can find it?" she asked, gazing down at the glistening peaks below, bathed in sunlight.

"We will find it. The Guardian of Light cannot be far from here," Luca answered confidently, his wings flapping strongly as he climbed higher.

As they flew, the scenery below turned more desolate. Dry trees, barren rivers, and cracked, broken ground stretched as far as the eye could see.

"Where exactly should we search?" Belinda asked, trying to recall the clues they'd received.

Luca scanned the area. "There's supposed to be a cave often mentioned as the Guardian's dwelling. They say it's hidden behind a volcanic lava flow."

Belinda looked down anxiously. What should have been a beautiful landscape had turned into a grim panorama. "Luca, this is worse than we imagined. Is there even any hope of finding the Guardian here?"

"There's still hope, Bell. We must believe," Luca said firmly, trying to maintain their spirits despite his growing unease. "The cave should be just a few miles from here. From what we know, the volcanic lava forms a protective wall around their dwelling. If we can reach the lava, we can find the cave entrance."

Belinda nodded, though her expression remained uncertain. "But what if we find nothing? What if the Guardian is already gone?"

"Maybe they're still there," Luca reassured her. "We need to search for signs. The Guardian of Light can emit a glow visible even in darkness."

With renewed determination, they continued. Luca began descending, bringing them closer to the expanse of lava below. The frozen white streaks and black ash of the lava flow were reminders of the natural force that had once reshaped the region.

After some time, they spotted the silhouette of a small cave hidden among jagged rocks. "There it is, Belinda!" Luca exclaimed. "Over there!"

Landing near the cave's entrance, Belinda felt an unusual vibration. "Don't you feel that? There's energy here," she said, peering into the darkness of the cave.

"You're right. That might be a sign we're in the right place," Luca replied, guiding Belinda closer. "We have to go in and find the Guardian. They might help us restore what’s been lost."

Cautiously, they entered the cave, the faint light in their hearts flickering with hope as they prepared for whatever awaited them in the darkness.

As they ventured deeper into the cave, the air grew colder and damper. The walls shimmered with minerals reflecting faint light that seemed to emanate from within. The vibrations Belinda felt grew stronger, like a rhythmic heartbeat, as though the cave itself were alive.

"This is strange," Belinda whispered. "It's as if something is welcoming us."

Luca lit a small magical orb, its glow casting dancing shadows on the walls. The illumination revealed ancient carvings that depicted battles between darkness and light.

"Look, Bell!" Luca exclaimed. "This might be the story of the Guardians of Light!"

Belinda stepped closer to study them. "They look so powerful. If we can find the Guardian, maybe they can teach us how to fix everything."

Suddenly, a soft voice echoed like a gentle whisper guiding them. "Face your fears, and the light will show the way…"

"Who’s there?" Belinda asked, her gaze darting around in search of the source.

"It's the voice of the Guardian," Luca said with certainty. "We need to follow it."

They pressed forward, following the soft voice that resonated in the darkness. The further they went, the stronger the presence of something wise and formidable grew. With each step, Belinda's nervousness slowly gave way to curiosity.

After winding through twisting tunnels and vast chambers, the voice became clearer. Before them lay a massive chamber adorned with stalactites forming water curtains. At the center stood a luminous figure radiating golden light.
