Chapter 161 Strange Trio

Chapter 161 Strange Trio

The conversation between the two was fast and familiar—clearly the rapport of old friends.

Charles followed Logan inside, watching as Logan took a deep drag on his cigarette, then sauntered over to Xavier and deliberately blew the smoke right in his face.

This sassy behavior—Charles never imagined he'd see this side of Logan. He raised an eyebrow, watching with some surprise.

"Logan, you're still as annoying as ever." Xavier frowned, his mouth turning down with obvious helplessness, but without any real irritation.

Hearing Xavier's words, Logan grinned, showing no remorse for his behavior. Instead, he sat down in an empty spot nearby, patting the mountain of books piled next to him with amusement in his voice.

"After all these years, books are still what you have most in here."

Xavier smiled, finally willing to close the book in his hands, looking at Charles with a grin. "I didn't expect you'd come here. Tell me, what made you suddenly decide to come, and..."

His gaze fell on Charles, his tone pausing slightly. "...bring along a little trouble."

Little trouble—this label immediately made Charles frown.

But before he could speak, Logan directly cut off Xavier's words. "Hey, that's not a polite way to talk. He's going to help us a lot. You should believe that."

Charles immediately looked at Logan. He seemed to glimpse something from Logan's words, but the problem was that he couldn't clearly grasp what he'd glimpsed.

Logan finished the cigarette in his hand and spent a long time searching the room before finally finding a small metal dish under a worn cabinet.

He pressed the cigarette into the metal dish, producing a faint sound—like the cigarette's final wail.

Everyone's gaze turned to the metal dish in Logan's hand. The sound quickly stopped, and the cigarette's residual heat burned a circle of blackened smoke marks on the dish.

Logan casually tossed the metal dish, his movements looking careless, but when the spinning dish landed on the pile of books, the cigarette butt only gently twirled, not spilling even a speck of ash.

"Alright, alright, I won't say anything more." Xavier saw Logan's displeasure and quickly raised his hands, speaking with helpless indulgence. After this sentence, his voice dropped, almost speaking only loud enough for himself to hear. "After all these years, you're still the same."

However, Logan's hearing was excellent. He immediately looked over and chuckled. "Long time no see, and you still haven't fixed this damn habit?"

This complaint immediately shut Xavier's mouth.

After brief pleasantries and banter, Logan finally decided to state his purpose for coming.

"Xavier, do you know..."

His words had just begun when his peripheral vision caught Juno, who had been staying in the corner. He frowned. "Who's that?"

In an instant, everyone's gaze turned to Juno.

"This is Juno Frost. She's the one who helped me find Mr. Black." Charles immediately spoke up, his voice gentle as he introduced his benefactor.

After looking Juno up and down, Logan's gaze finally settled on the Wenfu beside her. "Why does she have a Wenfu too?"

His tone was genuinely puzzled, as if he'd never anticipated such a situation.

Juno blinked, about to speak, when Xavier spoke up.

"Come on, it's just one Wenfu. Don't make such a big deal of it." He put down the book in his hands and, for once, stood up again, walking over to Logan. "Why don't you tell us what you're doing in the Main World?"

Xavier was a head taller than Logan. At this moment, they stood face to face, Xavier looking down with an upturned smile. "Compared to the little trouble you brought, I'm more curious about what could make you willing to take a trip to the Main World."

"It's nothing, Xavier." Logan spread his hands, stepping out of Xavier's encirclement. As he moved, the glass bottles dragging behind him clinked. "Just a small matter."

Seeing that Logan hadn't mentioned Annie, Charles couldn't help but feel puzzled. His gaze lingered on Logan, then glanced at Xavier, mentally speculating about the relationship between these two and Annie.

Xavier had already dropped his smile, seemingly having detected something.

As for Logan, his eyes were uncertain—he probably didn't want to mention why he'd chosen to enter the Main World at this time.

The atmosphere between them grew tense.

This made Charles and Juno, observing from the side, instinctively exchange glances, both seeing awkward uncertainty and worry in each other's eyes.

Not knowing what kind of history existed between Logan, Xavier, and Annie, Charles couldn't very well insert himself into the conversation. He could only stand aside and watch how things developed.

Juno was even more confused.

To her, whether it was Charles, Xavier, or Logan who arrived last, all three had something odd about them.

And now two of these three odd people seemed about to fight. Could this be some kind of trap created by anomalies?

Even though Juno had been to the Main World more than ten times, she couldn't guarantee she could escape unscathed when facing anomalies.

She had indeed heard that anomalies in the Main World could disguise themselves as humans, but surely her luck couldn't be so bad as to encounter three at once?

However, even as Juno thought this, she couldn't help but grow nervous.

Juno's nervousness didn't escape Charles's notice. He certainly understood what she was worried about—after all, he had the same thoughts.

Since Logan appeared at Ophelia's manor, Charles had been full of curiosity about him.

Now there was Xavier as well.

From the information he'd gotten from Sophie earlier, there were indeed permanent human residents in the Main World, but very few in number, and almost everyone had reached demigod status.

Sophie hadn't revealed in what aspect they'd reached demigod status, only that ordinary people could stay in the Main World for at most one week.

When the time was up, they would return to the real world and take a rest period lasting half a month.

The Wang family sisters he'd met before, as well as Xavier in front of him, should all be permanent residents.

So could Logan, who knew Xavier, be an ordinary person?

Whether they were humans or anomalies with the ability to disguise—no one knew for certain.

And during Charles's contemplation, the standoff between Logan and Xavier was nearing its end.

The two seemed to have reached some kind of understanding, simultaneously looking away.

Logan suddenly pointed behind him at Juno. "Little lady, how much did you pay for that Wenfu?"
