Scarlett
Nina flinched. “Sister,” she called. “Pl..”
“You murdered my maid,” I cut her off. “Framed an innocent. You tried to seduce my mate.”
My voice rose with each crime, fury surging in every word. “You even attempted to kidnap me and turn me into a sex slave.”
Nina’s eyes, once brimming with arrogance, now pleaded for mercy that would never come.
“I’m sorry,” she began to cry, fat tears rolling down her cheeks as she thrashed against her captors’ hold. “Don’t do this to me. Please, I’ll do anything—”
“You wanted to take everything from me,” I said softly. “Now I’m going to take everything from you.”
I approached her slowly, savoring the horrified look that grew on her face as I drew closer.
The fear in her eyes was delicious after years of being the one afraid, the one vulnerable. How fitting that our positions should be reversed at last.
“Grab her.”
The guards forcefully held Nina, making her head tilt back as she fought against them. One of them squeezed her jaw, causing her to gasp in pain and open her mouth.
I calmly approached and poured the elixir down her throat with precision. Nina gagged and choked, her body convulsing as the guards held her in place.
“Leave her,” I commanded once the vial was empty, stepping back to observe what would follow.
In a matter of seconds, a transformation took place. Nina’s pupils dilated until her eyes were nearly all black, the darkness engulfing the color like an eclipse dimming the sun.
Her lips quivered, then fell silent, only to quiver once more, as if attempting to speak but unable to.
Her head jerked involuntarily, tilting from side to side, as if straining to hear a sound that was no longer present, or maybe a sound that had never existed at all.
“Wh–What’s happening?” she gasped, her voice already changing, becoming hollow and distant as the elixir worked its inexorable magic.
She blinked wildly, her gaze darting around the room without focus. “I can’t… see…”
I stared at her, unblinking, before responding. “The darkness is only beginning,” I replied, though I knew she could no longer hear me.
The elixir had already begun to sever her connection to the world around her, strand by strand, sense by sense.
“Why can’t I hear you?!" Nina’s voice cracked with rising panic. Her eyes were wide and unseeing as she strained to detect sounds that would never again reach her consciousness.
I didn’t answer. There was no point. Nina’s own cries were now a mystery to her—her ears registering nothing, her mind amiss in a sea of silence.
She had entered her own private hell, one from which there would be no escape.
She began screaming, a high, keening wail that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Her body thrashed and flailed in desperation, her panic escalating to a mindless frenzy as she lost her senses one by one.
Her once poisonous and dangerous voice now echoed only in her own dying mind.
Then, as suddenly as the fit had begun, it stopped. Her body went stiff, muscles locked in tension, then went stagnant as if the strings holding her upright had been cut.
She slumped to the floor, breathing, alive- but her eyes stared blankly, her limbs twitching like a broken doll.
“Sister," Alisha called softly from beside me, her voice filled with awe as she watched the elixir’s powerful impact.
“She will live,” I whispered back, unable to break my eyes away from the shell that had once been Nina. “But she’ll never hear another word, see another face. Her skin becomes numb, unable to feel pain, touch, or warmth. Her taste and smell will vanish. Food becomes ash in her mouth. Forever tasteless. Forever hollow.”
I added. “She will never shift again. Her wolf… is dead.”
Finn held my hand. “She deserved worse,” he announced.
“I gave her silence. Eternal silence. She can’t scream, hear others, or even feel pain—no release, no healing, only isolation. That’s worse than death.”
“Child,” Mother called gently, her hand coming to rest on my shoulder. There was no condemnation in her eyes, only a profound sadness and understanding. “You must have suffered a lot for you to use that forbidden potion on her.”
“Mother," I sobbed as the word broke out of me. The dam inside finally shattered, and years of suppressed pain flooded out in a torrent of tears.
I broke down in front of her. “You can’t imagine the hell I was forced to pass through in her hands. She is evil.”
She gently smoothed my hair, offering comfort I had been denied for too long. “Do you think I am too evil to do that to her?” I asked.
“No, child. I never thought of that,” she assured me. “Sometimes justice requires a firm hand.”
Tears kept falling down my cheeks, hot and cleansing. Finally. I had finally gotten my revenge.
“It is okay, mate,” Finn said, his arm encircling my waist, drawing me against the solid warmth of his chest. “You did the right thing. She would have never stopped.”
After crying, I rose to my feet before giving out my order. “Lock her up in the Forgotten Cave.”
The Forgotten Cave was a place Finn had built long before I came into his life. Situated in the deepest part of our territory, it was hidden within the forest that bordered our lands. This place was untouched by duty, blood, or expectation.
It was a place of eternal darkness, where not a single ray of light could pierce the depths, and that was exactly where Nina belonged. She could live there for the rest of her life.
“Yes, Luna," the guards responded. They lifted Nina’s limp form, her head hanging unnaturally as they carried her away. I watched as she was dragged out, her body offering no resistance.
“Serves her right,” Alisha hissed. “That place is the only one fit for her—she carries no light within her.”
