Chapter 106 Chapter 106
Chapter 106 Chapter 106
Elorai.
I walk toward the table, gesturing toward the chairs. “Please, sit.”
“After you...” Lucas murmurs, pulling out a chair for me first.
I smile and settle down, and they follow, sitting across from each other.
Knox digs in first, followed closely by Ronan and Lucas. It makes my heart giddy to see them enjoying the food.
“Ugh... it tastes even better than it looks. You knocked it out of the park with this one.”
I giggle, taking a bite of my own steak.
We eat in comfortable silence for a moment until Ronan speaks up.
“Is there a reason why you did this?”
“Yes, there is.” I clear my throat, setting my spoon down. “You asked if I would like to bond with you. I've used these past weeks to think about it, and I've finally arrived at an answer.”
A tense silence settles in the room, all their gazes on me. A shudder runs down my spine.
“My answer is yes,” I announce, my voice barely above a whisper.
I dig my fingers into my thighs, my heart pounding in my chest.
Lucas is the first to react. He lets out a breath, leaning back in his seat. “That's wonderful news.”
I give a tight smile, feeling a cross between elation and apprehension.
He reaches to hold my hand. “You won't regret this.”
“I know I won't,” I whisper back, smiling at him.
“And should anyone try to come against this union, we'll fight them to the death,” Knox pipes up, and I chuckle.
“That's enough for me.”
Lucas brings my hand to his lips and presses a kiss against it, and butterflies flutter in my chest.
I give him a soft smile, my gaze flicking across the room.
My heart settles in my chest, and I let out a breath.
This night is a splendid one.

After that dinner, the alphas picked a date when the bonding ritual would be taking place.
According to Knox, there would be a full moon during that week and hopefully, I would also go into heat as well.
I spent the rest of my time preparing, packing everything I could possibly need while the alphas moved around, putting things in place so we could have a hitch-free bonding session.
On the day we were supposed to leave, Lauren and I shared a teary goodbye.
“Aww... I'll miss you!” she cried out, her hold on me tightening.
I giggled, sniffing back tears as I hugged her back.
“Me too,” I muttered, pulling away from the hug. “You'll be here when we return, right?” I ask, and she nods.
“Not leaving any time soon.”
“Okay, we'll talk then,” I say, and she smiles, pulling away from me.
“Have fun!” she calls out, and I wave at her, walking out of the house with my bag slung over my shoulder.
The alphas are already waiting outside, next to the car.
My heart flutters as I approach them, and my grip on the bag tightens.
“Said your goodbyes?” Lucas asks, his gaze drifting toward the bag that I'm holding. He beckons for it, and I give it to him.
“Yes, I have. Ready to leave now.”
“Great. Get in,” he orders, taking the bag to the boot and throwing it in.
I slip into the car, and Knox follows after me, while Ronan takes the passenger seat and Lucas drives as usual.
Once everyone is in place, Lucas turns on the engine, revs it up, and we begin to drive out of the garage.
Lauren stays out on the porch, waving at us as we make our way down the street, and I wave back until she's out of sight.
“Where are we going anyway?” I ask the alphas when I turn to look at them.
Lucas shrugs, glancing at me through the rearview mirror. “It's a secret.”
I furrow my brows, then glance at Knox, who's snickering quietly beside me.
“Think blue skies and—”
Ronan cuts him off.
“Shut up, Knox,” he groans, his voice rough.
Knox pouts, his eyes narrowed in displeasure, while I try to stifle a chuckle.
“Sorry...” I whisper, patting his arm.
He leans toward me, and I whisper into his ear.
“They can be rather brute.”
“I know, right? I wasn't even going to say anything.”
“Yeah, you weren't,” Lucas mutters, scoffing.
Knox rolls his eyes and places his head on my shoulder.
I stiffen at first, then slowly relax, leaning back into the seat while the car drives along. It doesn't take long for his eyelids to flutter closed, and he starts drifting to sleep.
A warm silence settles in the car, and I look out the window, watching as the scenery zips by, a corner of my lips turned up.
To think my life looks like this right now.
I feel so lucky.
We arrive at a place that has tons of people around and huge machinery that makes a lot of noise and also... flies in the air?!
What the hell is going on?
Knox sees my expression and chuckles, calling Ronan and Lucas's attention.
They all glance back at me and stop bringing the boxes out of the car, their brows furrowed.
“Um... what is this place?”
“It's called an airport. You've never heard of it before?” he asks, and I shake my head.
His eyes widen in understanding.
“Yeah... you know, I forget you grew up in a lab. All of this must be new and fascinating to you. Come on, let's go.”
“Wait... where are we going?”
Lucas glances at me as they pull our boxes along.
“We're going to be boarding one of these things.”
“We'll be entering them?!” The words stumble out of my lips before I can stop them, filled with shock and surprise.
“Yeah...” Knox confirms. “We'll also be in the air too,” he adds with a playful grin.
“No way...” I mumble, my feet refusing to move.
I glance at those roaring machines again, feeling a sliver of fear running through my spine.
The idea of being in one of those is bone-chilling, to be honest.
Lucas notices I've stopped and glances at me.
“It's not going to be that bad, I promise. Besides, we aren't going into those big ones. The one we'll be in is much smaller and way more comfortable.”
I stare at him, swallowing tightly.
“You sure?” I ask, my voice small but threaded with hope.
“I am. But now you have to stick close. Sure, the ride may be rather uncomfortable, but you'll be fine. Okay?”
“Okay...” I mutter, nodding.
I walk toward them and, together, we enter the gate.
We check in, and an official comes toward us, leading us out of the building to a larger expanse of land where there are more of those machines.
