Bonus Chapter Emery x Tristan

Bonus Chapter Emery x Tristan
Emery POV

“Luna Emery,” Someone called me. “You’re needed to approve the florist’s arrangements before she leaves.”

“Now? The ball’s about to start soon.”

“Luna Emery,” another person called. “We have a major problem.”

“Luna Emery, the housekeeper,  got the rooms mixed up. Now we don’t know where to put the extended family.”

“Luna Emery—”

Whoa! Everyone needs to calm down.

They’re trying to rip me apart. They didn’t stop though. They kept yapping my ear off.

They surrounded me, talking over one another. Each needed their problem solved immediately. The guests were arriving. I needed to be with Tristan to greet the guests, but how could I do that when everyone needed me all at once!

My hand flew to my mouth as bile threatened to spew out of me. I turned around and raced for the nearest bathroom.

“Luna Emery!”

I burst into the downstairs bathroom and slammed the door shut. I puked my frustrations out.

“I needed that,” I said.

It’s been two years since I’d become Emery Richardson also known as Luna Emery. It was a monumental day because an omega had become the first Luna of the Richardson pack.

It came with resistance. Tristan’s mother was not happy with us in the beginning, but Christine came around.

Being Luna was a joy, but it could also be stressful. Like tonight. I brought my knees to my chest and buried my head between my knees.

“I need a moment alone.”

My friends would be here for the summer ball. My friends and all their children. That’s one thing I felt like I couldn’t have no matter what I did.

I lost my baby years ago. It’s been over six years, but no doctor can tell me why I can’t conceive. I’ve watched all my friends have children, and then there’s me.

The injury I sustained during the escape of the Alpha’s isle has helped our pack doctors learn more about she-wolf injuries and how women in our armies can protect themselves from injuries.

I was glad my pain helped thousands of other she-wolves. I just wish my pain would end.

“Emery,” my wolf Rumi said.

“Yeah?”

“Want to get a cheeseburger?”

I laughed. That’s one of my favourite things and would help me feel better right now, but I couldn’t.

“We have a ball to attend. I want a cheeseburger, though.”

My stomach was empty after throwing up.

A soft knock came from the bathroom door.

“Love…” Tristan said. “Are you okay?”

I sniffled. “I’m fine.”

Tristan’s been great. The pressure’s on him to produce an heir. Everyone knew what the council suggested when an Alpha couldn’t have children with his mate. They brought in the breeders.

It was disgusting.

Tristan never considered that. He always put his council in their place.

I never thought we’d end up here. I was just a girl he was fond of in school. That fondness grew. He took my virginity. He was the first man to tell me he loved me. He chased me when I left him, and he nurtured me when I lost our pup. He never blamed me for that.

I cleaned myself up and opened the door.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” Tristan asked.

I smiled. “Nothing. Stress.”

He took my face in his hands and squinted. “Stress, huh?”

I nodded. “Tired too, maybe.”

“The ball’s going to be great. You always plan great parties.”

“This is the biggest ball yet, Tristan. Your entire family’s here.”

“I’d like to hear them say one wrong thing about you, Emery.”

I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed. “I love you, you know that?”

“I love you more, baby.”

“What are you too doing here? Don’t you get enough of each other?” Christine snapped.

Tristan laughed. “I’d never get enough of my mate.”

He kissed my forehead and stroked my back.

“The ball’s starting! Hurry up.”

“I’ll see you inside.” He kissed my forehead again. “We’ll sneak away later,” he whispered in my ear.

“Tristan!”

He chuckled. “It’s a promise.”

Tristan marched off.

Christine stepped in front of me and folded her arms.

“Were you crying?” She asked.

“No, no. It’s just overwhelming. There’s a problem with everything, and I felt sick.”

“Allow me to help you. Just because you’re Luna doesn’t mean you’re superhuman.”

“I-I don’t want you to think I can’t handle it or I’m weak.”

She cupped my cheeks and tilted her head. “You’ve risen above everyone’s standards. You’ve given this pack more than we deserve. You make my son happy, so you make me happy. Go stand beside your mate. I’ll take care of the finishing touches.”

“Christine,” I breathed out.

“Yes?”

“Thank you.”

I hugged her. “Everything’s going to be fine”

The ballroom was packed. The double doors leading to the courtyard were wide open, where more people were outside. I saw so many familiar faces. My parents and my brother were here, mingling. The Sanders family were present as always, as was the Henry family. Alex, Stormy and their son Raiden.

Something tugged on my dress. I looked down.

It wasn’t a something, it was a someone!

“Zoe!”

I picked up the baby with her binky in her mouth.

“Hey, baby. Where’s your mommy?”

She reached for my earrings instead.

“Whoa, nope. I’ve heard about your reputation. You probably ran away from your mother.”

She blinked at me with her big blue eyes. I held her close. “Oh, you’re so cute.”

“Zoe!” Leiah exclaimed. “There you are.”

She laughed at her mother’s exasperation.

“Thank you,” Leiah groaned. “She runs at the speed of light. It’s even worse when her father’s not around.”

Even Leiah and Gareth had a precious daughter. I handed her over to her mother with a heavy heart.

“I loved our little chat. I’ve got to find Tristan.”

“You can have her any day you like. Let’s go, you,” Leiah said.

I spotted my man talking to his father and went over to him.

“Hey,” I said.

Tristan placed a hand on my back. “Let’s get some air, love.”

“We’re supposed to welcome the guests,” I said.

He smiled. “Dad said he’ll handle that. He and Mom will give us a break tonight.”

“A break?”

Tristan ushered me outside.

“Babe? I didn’t mean to fall apart. I can handle tonight. It’s our biggest ball yet. Our allies are here.”

“Don’t worry about that, Love.”

He picked me up and set me down on a stone bench in our garden.

“Tristan, is there something you want to tell me?”

He raised a brow. “Is there something you want to tell me?”

“What’s with you?”

“Emery… I can smell my pup.”

My eyes rounded and my heart nearly stopped.

“You what? Are you sure?”

“Of course, I’m sure.”

My hand went to my flat belly. “We need a pregnancy test. I don’t trust this.”

“What? I’ve sensed my pup before. I wasn’t wrong then.”

Tears flooded my eyes. “I don’t want a false alarm. I don’t want to get my heart shattered. So drive me to a pharmacy now!”

He raised his hands. “Your wish is my command.”

Tristan drove me to the nearest pharmacy, where I bought four pregnancy tests. While the ball went on downstairs, Tristan and I locked ourselves in our room.

“I can smell our pup. My wolf knows he’s growing inside you.”

“Shut up, Tristan! How long do these things take?”

“We don’t need them.”

He snatched the test from me.

“Tristan!” I screeched.

He chuckled. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Here.”

Two lines.

I stumbled out of my heels. My hand trembled.

“Is this possible?”

He stood, smiling and took me into his arms. “You don’t know how happy I am. Oh, Love, you’re going to make an incredible mother.”

“You won’t have to take a breeder, huh?” I joked.

The joke didn’t go down well. “I’ll destroy anyone who even suggests that.”

“Relax, babe. I’m kidding. I didn’t think this would happen. I almost lost hope for this.”

He picked me up and turned us around. “I thought I was complete before, but this is amazing. I’ll protect you both.”

I’d protect this baby with my life.

“Are we going back to the ball?”

“Screw them. I’m staying here with my mate. I’m here for whatever you need.”

We sealed it with a kiss. My happily ever after was complete.
