CHAPTER 9 – THE ONE WITH OLD SONGS 1.2
They started to tease the two of them again and then they started to fight each other. Mama just laughed. She was used to these two. I feel like she's closer to them and they're her children.
"You're Aunt Sophie, why did you cook stew when it's so hot?" Riley complained to mom.
You see? He who eats is still complaining?
"Oh! You're really fine," Luna reacted to what Riley said to her mother.
"So what do you want me to cook? Ice cream? You don't want anything hot, there's still some leftover dish from yesterday, the spicy one. I refrigerate it, you can eat that. It just has fat."
I almost spilled my coffee because of what mom said. Even Luna laughed, and Riley laughed too. My mom really is a jerk.
It's just funny to think that your best friends are closer to your mother.
Everything was fine and we started eating. My mom's cooking was really delicious, so I passed it on to her. I thought, what if Thera tasted what my mom cooked? Maybe she would live here and ask my mom to feed her every day.
I suddenly shook my head. What was I thinking about again? Why did he suddenly come to my mind? Jusmiyo, even on my day off, his appearance still bothers me.
"Sky. Why are you shaking your head like that? Isn't it delicious?" Mama asked, paying attention to my shaking.
"That's not it, ma. Just ignore me." That's all I said and then took a sip of soup.
"How could I not notice you, what you're wearing is so striking. Jusko, my child, you look so hot. Are you sick? You're already wearing long sleeves, you're still wearing a turtle neck. And you're still drinking coffee in there. You might get heat stroke from that," mom commented on my outfit.
I told you so. It was impossible for them not to tease me about what I was wearing. I tried to avoid their questions this morning about why I suddenly changed into a turtle neck. I just ignored them earlier and went straight to sleep.
And now, because I just woke up, they have more time to ask questions.
"Yes, of course. Why are you dressed like that?" Riley asked.
"Okay, son, just because you live in a mansion with centralized air conditioning doesn't mean you should dress like that until you get home. If your mouth suddenly turns red because of the heat, I really don't know about you."
"It's nothing, ma'am. I just like it. It's a new style, that's all." It's pointless to make excuses that even a child wouldn't believe.
Because of my answer, Riley stopped chewing. He looked straight at me and then narrowed his eyes at me. I knew that look. I'm sure this guy was thinking about something else.
"Wait a minute." he began, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. "This morning, when Luna turned on the light, you suddenly grabbed the blanket. Besides, when you came, you didn't even turn on the light and you moved so slowly." he continued.
He noticed all of that. I swallowed hard because I'm feeling anxious.
"Oh, done?" Luna asked Riley hesitantly. "So what now? Let Sky do whatever she wants with her life." she added.
That's why I love Luna more than Riley!
"Since your brain is full of crime, you don't know anything about normal things." Riley said to Luna. Because of that, both of us frowned, both of us clueless about what Riley was saying.
What is this person thinking?
"What's going on in your dirty brain?" Luna asked him.
After that question, Riley smirked at me while giving me a meaningful look. "You're a baby girl. That's why you're wearing a turtle neck because you're hiding something on your neck, right? Maybe...you have kiss marks there, right? Admit it!"
I almost choked on the soup because of what Riley said. Mom and Luna looked at me at the same time, their eyes widening as if they thought I had committed a crime if they were looking at me.
"W-what?! W-are you crazy?!" I stammered back to Riley who only laughed harder.
That's great, my stuttering really helped their suspicions.
"Hey son! What kiss mark? Take off the one wrapped around your neck." said mom, suddenly grabbing the turtle neck.
Because of what he did, I quickly distanced myself. Now, I look more defensive! This Riley is so stupid! Kiss marks they're saying? There's a scar from the strangulation.
"Who did that, baby girl? You, that's probably why you came home late. Damn! Our baby girl is already a girl."
Riley is such a slut! What a girl! I've been with a boyfriend for so long. Why do these people always forget that I have a boyfriend and when they tease me, you'll think I'm single?!
"Oh my! Is what Riley is saying true? Who did that? Was it Arentsvelt?" asked mom.
What the fuck?!
"Mom! What are you talking about? I don't have a kiss mark. You're crazy, Riley, what are you putting into my mother's brain!"
"Well, you're acting suspicious. All right, if you're brave, take off that thing that's covering your neck. Let us see. Quick!" Riley challenged me, still smirking. Mom, on the other hand, tried to narrow her eyes at me.
I looked at Luna. She was quiet and continued eating. When our eyes met, she quickly looked away. Maybe she would be awkward in the conversation. Because the two of us were like idiots.
"Let's just eat. Why are you even paying attention to what I'm wearing? Leave me alone. I'm not hot. Riley, stop what you're thinking. You're still this morning!" I said and kicked Riley's feet under the table and that made her laugh harder.
That said, I shouldn't have gone home on my day off and waited for the wound on my neck to heal. If they're teasing me like this now, what about tomorrow when my neck is covered again?
Because! This is Thera's fault.
I wish he had just slapped me. I don't know why, but he really thought about strangling me. That dwarf was so scared.
