Chapter 116.
116\. BROWN DIARY (FINAL PART)

The dangers were already lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce, the moment I learned that our daughter was a vessel. The revelation had been both astonishing and terrifying, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach. How did it happen? The answer, it turned out, was both simple and complex. Derek's genes, it seemed, contained the material necessary to transfer that power to our daughter, who was a suitable host.

The implications were dire, and my mind reeled as I thought about the potential consequences. The dangers were real, and they were twofold. Firstly, there was the very real possibility that my daughter would be forcibly taken away from me when she was old enough to survive without me. The thought of being separated from her, of not being able to protect her or watch her grow, was unbearable.

But that was not the only danger. Edgar Frost, it seemed, had his own plans for our daughter. He wanted to use her as some kind of model, a weapon to scare our allies into submission. The thought of my child being used as a tool for someone else's gain was abhorrent, and I felt a surge of anger and determination. I would do everything in my power to protect my daughter, to keep her safe from those who would seek to exploit her.

As I thought about the situation, I realised that I had to be proactive. I couldn't just sit back and wait for the inevitable to happen. I had to take control, to find a way to protect my daughter and keep her safe from those who would seek to harm her. The road ahead would be fraught with danger, but I was ready to face it head-on. I would do whatever it took to keep my daughter safe, to give her the chance to grow and thrive in a world that seemed determined to exploit her.

"Derek, we can't let this happen," I said one day, after coming from a check-up with little Rachael in my arms. She was barely six months old and she was already asking for solid food.

"I know, I know." He closed the door behind us.

"We are being watched," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I glanced around the room, my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. "Edgar is watching our every move, as if he doesn't trust us." The thought was unsettling, and I couldn't help but wonder what Edgar suspected us of.

But Derek's expression told me that he didn't agree with my assessment. "It's not Edgar," he said, his voice low and even. He lowered the blinds and peered outside, his eyes scanning the street below. "It's Sirius." His gaze lingered on something outside, and I saw his jaw clench in anger.

I followed his gaze, and my heart sank as I saw the agents standing at the corners, watching us. They were dressed in plain clothes, but their eyes were alert, and their posture screamed of tension. "He's got men watching us," Derek hissed, his voice full of venom. "Sirius is trying to keep tabs on us, to see what we're up to."

Derek's eyes met mine, and I saw the understanding in them. We were in this together, and we would face whatever challenges came our way side by side. But for now, we had to be cautious, had to watch our backs and wait for the perfect moment to strike.

"Sirius?" I placed Rachael in a cot.

"Yes, have you been talking to Lyanna?" He asked

My eyes narrowed slightly as I thought about the information she had shared with me.

"I haven't talked to her in a while," I revealed. "Is there a problem?"

"She says Sirius has been moving with a bad bunch lately. It's even his men that are watching us, instead of the Alpha's guard."

The news was troubling, and I couldn't help but wonder what Sirius was planning.

"Sirius had the guts to do what he likes after my father passed away," I commented, my voice tinged with a mix of sadness and frustration. My father had passed away a few months ago, but he was lucky enough to see his granddaughter before it happened. It was a painless death, he had died of cardiac arrest in his sleep at a ripe old age. Despite the pain of losing him, I was grateful for the time we had together and the memories we had made.

Now that he was gone, however, I knew that power-hungry individuals like Sirius, a member of the council, would try to act with impunity. Without my father's steady hand to guide the council, it seemed that the wolves were circling, waiting to strike.

"Lyanna said he might be manipulating the Alpha to do something against us," Derek said, his eyes locked on mine. "There are rumours that we are acting against the interests of the land and the Alpha." He sat down beside me, his movements fluid and relaxed, but I could sense the tension beneath his calm exterior.

I glanced around us, ensuring we were out of earshot. "Derek, we need to leave this place," I whispered urgently. "I have already made plans. We can just move to the human world and they wouldn't know." The thought of starting anew, of leaving the politics and dangers of our world behind, was tantalising. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I was willing to do whatever it took to keep my family safe.

Derek's eyes met mine, and I could see the consideration in them. He knew the risks, knew that staying here would mean being constantly on guard against Sirius's machinations. But he also knew that leaving wouldn't be without its own challenges. The human world was vastly different from our own, and adapting wouldn't be easy. Still, I could see the wheels turning in his mind, weighing the pros and cons.

"No need for that, I have already made plans for that." Derek rubbed his hands. "I have a friend, a human named Jonathan Myers, who will help us out. I met up with him several times, and he helped us get a place far away from here." His eyes darted around. "Now all we need to do is take her away in the dead of the night. Today," he said.

I was surprised he had already made plans in secret. "Why didn't you tell me before?"

"I couldn't afford our enemies knowing it. It has to be done quickly, they could hear our conversation. I had to act normal for them not to suspect us." Derek carried a bag, containing all of Rachael's things. "Come on, let's leave now. When they don't know. Get in the car and I will drive us out of here. I will pull the car into the garage, and then you sneak in with Rachael and keep your head down, while I drive away. It would only distract them for a moment, but it's more than enough." Derek had said.
