Chapter 46
Clemencia POV
When I woke up, Kylon and I were back at the hunting grounds’ residence. He was acting funny, very unlike the pursuing guy I knew by now. He was evasive, avoiding my touch and my eyes, adverting his looks and attention on everything else, as useless and futile it was, like the ceiling painting or something. It was odd, out of character, but where we were didn’t give me the opportunity to feel safe enough to ask. So, I went along, my heart breaking a little each step he took further from me. After a short walk around the residence, that I noticed was mostly emptied from families and candidates now, Kylon stopped at the threshold of our room, and, his hand on the doorknob, as if he was anticipating some kind of explosion from me, asked me to pack without looking into my eyes, and almost ran out, closing the door behind him with a “bang”.
It echoed to my heart, shaking its foundations, cracking its walls I left bare for that man. Terra whimpered, while I growled silently at the closed door.
‘What is happening to mate… I can’t even reach out to Korwin.’ She said in a quiet despair, head low and tail tucked between her legs.
‘I don’t know, but I am done with it. Over. I won’t let it affect me further, nor will I let it break your heart even more than he already did.’
‘Our heart, silly. Don’t act so tough when you don’t have to. I can feel you, and your thoughts are mine too.’
Her soft voice speaking facts were somewhat a consolation, bringing me a strange comfort. I was not alone in this mess, and I would do anything to comfort her as she did for me.
‘Let’s pack, and let’s make him speak. We know damn too well how to, now.’
A smirk, yet to be convinced, bloomed on Terra’s lips. It was not full yet, but we would get there.
I didn't have much to pack. Only what Kylon bought for me for the week we’ve been waiting here for a sign or a call from the Elders. It was odd, as they canceled the closing ceremony this year, not disclosing all of the great coupling that might have happened out there. Not that it was my business, nor was it anything interesting but I wished we could’ve gone. Being a couple, mated and marked. I would’ve loved to brag a bit in front of the Elders.
‘Who are you and what have you done to my Clem?’ mocked Terra.
‘I don’t know. I guess it is getting to my head? It is just that, we’ve been in the shadows for so long. I crave for the light. Any light.’
‘No light feels better than the looks Mate gives us.’
And my heart sank. A tear rolled down my cheek and came crashing on the floor. All I wanted was to be seen by the mate I was blessed with. It went well for one week. That was it. Was I doomed? What did I do for it to go the complete opposite way from what it was supposed to?
I waited for a while, but he didn’t come back, even after an hour. Was he abandoning us? Or returning us to the Elders instead of keeping us close, and protecting us?
‘Terra, I am so sorry. Even after years of promising we would be just us two, now that I met Kylon, here I am, relying on him, waiting on him already. We can’t trust anyone.’
‘What are you saying? Have you hit your head without me knowing? Mate is a blessing! We need him as much as he needs us. Something must have happened while we were out at Elder Kodard’s place.’
‘What would be enough to justify him running away, almost literally from me? It just doesn’t make sense.’
Grumbling, she retreated to the back of my mind. Even if she was fighting me on my stance, I knew and could feel her pain. Frustration was getting over me, rushing through my veins like the poison that used to fill them. I had to get out of here. If he wasn’t coming to get us, I was going to get him. Point final.
I bursted out of the room and stumped through the hallways rather than walking through. I almost jumped from the fourth level to the grounds just to let out some steam, but I stopped myself before I did so. I was getting unreasonable. I had to run. And kick some mate’s asss.
Opening the door in a bang, restrained myself again by not kicking it down, I started running. Where? I didn’t know. I still had no clue on how I would find Kylon either. He could be anywhere. The town was quiet. A few cars were passing by but they wouldn’t stop anywhere, following that long and sinuous road heading towards the mountains. Most have been humans coming from the adjacent village going to the next one. Both were misleads created by the Elders so that this whole territory wouldn’t raise suspicions. We could go about our deeds in an almost completely private way, without them getting too curious about a ghost town getting suddenly busy a few times throughout the year, or being comfortable enough to stop by and mingle with us.
A car passed by me, kind of close, almost brushing me with its mirror, almost running over my foot. I stopped in my tracks, turned around and started chasing it. I was about to take position and jump on the trunk of the human’s berline, from its scent, when I was blocked cut and dry by another car I didn’t notice. The black SUV conductor’s door was so vigorously opened that it almost pushed me down the road, along the small ditch following it.
Fuming, seeing practically red, I grabbed the brazen bastard that almost killed me, no (yes, very) exaggeration, by his collar, and before I could even open my mouth, I was shaken by a, very, strong pair of hands, clutching my arms.
“WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU TRYING TO DO CLEM?” Oh, I knew that voice. “WHAT IS GOING THROUGH THAT SMALL HEAD OF YOURS?” Hey, that’s no way to talk to your mate, Kylon. Wait.
“Kylon?”
“YEAH? Who do you think it is?” He growled through clenched jaws, his eyes tainted red popping out of his head. “Clemencia, I know everything is not ideal, and it will be hard but killing yourself or getting yourself killed is not the way to go about it…”
“You are dumb enough to think I would do that? Oh my Goddess, Kylon, you are so out of it! LIKE OUR RELATIONSHIP?! Who is the one who left me by myself for hours, after avoiding me like I had the plague or something?”
“I didn’t…”
“Yes, you did. Who was about to abandon us, or worse, taking us back to where we came from? Don’t count on my cooperation on this. I have a say in all of this.”
He was shaking. Trembling so hard, I was too, considering his tight grasp on me. It was like experiencing our own earthquake. Our world was falling apart. I didn't even knew why.
“You are so far from the truth, Clem. I…” He freed me, taking a few steps back, pacing, running his hands in his hair over and over again. After a while, he stopped, facing me, staring straight into my eyes, into my soul.
“Have you looked into the mirror lately?”
“Yes, I think, perhaps this morning, why?”
“No, I mean, like a complete check up…” His voice was low, cracking.
“No then. What, what should I have seen?”
“The mark.”
“What mark, Kylon, get to the point, for the Goddess’ sake!”
“You and Jasper have a mark on your back now. You already have one, I hope you knew, just a little over your bottom, on the right side of your body. It is kind of faint, I can’t tell exactly what kind of sign it is, but it seems in an ancient language or something. But the one that appeared after you drank the tea at Kodard’s quarter is bright, blood-red bright, located more toward the center of your back, on your scapula, in an angle hard for you to see like that I presume. And you both have one.”
“And how would you know about it, considering you haven’t seen me naked since and I presumed you haven’t slept with your Alpha?”
“I was the one who brought you both back home. I put you both in the car and while driving, I noticed the bleeding from both of you. While you were out of it I bathed you, and changed you. For Jasper, I talked to him after.”
“Why couldn’t you just do the same for me? Why did you decide to abandon us?”
“To abandon you? Never. I was, am still too ashamed of myself. I couldn’t protect you. About Jasper, it is a whole other level! He is an ALPHA and couldn’t fend for himself and forced out whatever made this to you both. What could have I done? But for you… I am the one who’s supposed to protect you. And I was… useless. How could I even present myself in front of you with any pride? How am I even worth your attention? I was blessed with a mate that was marked under my eyes, and if I couldn’t do anything about it at least I could have found something about it, but I failed! How…”
His glossy eyes fell on me, and tears started to fall. So that was what it was all about; worth. On my tiptoes, scared to frighten him off, I approached him. Once our faces were not even an inch away, I slowly grabbed his face, cupping his wet cheeks, and kissed each of them tears raining down on my hands.
“If you are not worthy of me, there is nobody on this Earth who would be.” Our noses touched, and I felt the loved sparks run down my spine. I shivered. “I love you Kylon Greer.”
He inhaled so sharply he almost choked. I giggled but was interrupted by his lips crashing on mine, eagerly.
“I’ve missed this so much.” He mumbled, without stopping the kiss. “I love you Clemencia. I would never even think of abandoning you.” On these words, he scooped me up, his hands firm around my asss, and took me to the car. He opened the back door, delicately letting me down on the backseat.
“Ever done it in a car?” He asked, wiggling his eyebrows, a huge and flirty grin stamped on his face.
“No, but you want to do it, right now?”
“Why not? I definitely can’t wait to be back in the room… And by the smell of it, you can’t either.”
Blush rushed to my cheeks. Indeed, I was already soaking wet down south. I guessed that would be the best way to reconcile, wouldn’t it?
His fingers ran over the fabrics between him and my throbbing core. They were dancing around, creating that tingling but itching feeling. I fidgeted under his touch, getting impatient. He noticed, winked at me, and kept going.
Growling, annoyed I straighten myself, sitting, my legs still apart enough for him to keep playing. In front of my impatient move, he laughed again, and when I came into action, he pressed just the right place, stopping with delightful shivers, washing over my body. I moaned, grabbing his shirt to stay on the seat. He leaned over, planting some kisses along my neck, nibbling on some sweet spots I didn’t even know could be sensitive that way, while playing over my pants.
That was it. I ran out of patience and ripped his shirt in half, unveiling the sculpted body I wanted over me. I approached his abs slowly, trailing down the lines with my tongues, down to the hem of his pants. Or his tent, I should say, by his shaft waiting for me underneath.
“Ready yet?” I asked in a husky voice, surprised even myself by the sound of it.
“Looks like the little wolf is hungrier than I thought. Who knew you would be starving from lust…”
Groaning, I unbuckled his pants while undid mine, getting them over my butt, swiping his index on my, now finally, bare and opened flesh, sending another wave crashing to the pit of my belly.
“I don’t want to wait…” I panted, stroking his hard member with one hand, licking his throbbing tip.
“As you wish my lady.”
As the large grin he had announced, he pulled my legs up over his shoulders, toppling me on my back in shock and excitement. His wet tip poked my entrance at first, politely, before he barged in, making me cry once more. His grunt was music to my ears. I loved to hear how he liked being in me, as he pumped in and out. It felt so good after fearing his departure from my life. Throwing my arms around his neck, I elevated myself slightly, feeling him deeper, fully in me. He was so huge, as if after each time, he grew almost another inch.
The feeling was painfully enjoyable. I nibbled on his earlobe, whispering, whining softly, letting my moans encourage him. He doubled his ardor and in a hard thrust, came, biting me on my mark, making me do the same.
“Now, we sure can’t let Jasper ride back to the pack with us.”
“To the pack? Really?”
“Yes. That’s why I left that long. I told you to pack, but I knew you didn’t have much. So I went ahead and bought things, while waiting for our Alpha to attend to his matters before he joins us.”
Tears welled up in my eyes, making my vision blurry. His expression changed swiftly from bliss to pure worries.
“I am so happy.” I whispered, strangled by joy.
He planted a soft kiss on my forehead.
“Ever did it in the wild?”
“You are still in me, and yet ready for another round?” I laughed, amused at his power display.
“No. But I think it is time for Korwin and Terra to… get to know each other more… we still have time, and I think, due to the circumstances, it would be as good for them to mend up as it was for us.”
I couldn’t disagree with that. I nodded, and got up after he slipped out from me and also from the car. A little sore, I thumbled, but he was there to catch me. A moment later, Terra was heading towards the woods down the little ditch, closely followed by a tongue-hanging Korwin.
