Her Unsaid Truths
Her Unsaid Truths
The car ride home was painfully silent.
Aaron kept glancing sideways at Alina. Her body was pressed stiffly against the door, her arms folded, her eyes blankly watching the city lights pass. Something was clearly off. Her energy, her aura. It wasn't just exhaustion. It was something heavier. Something that weighed on her bones.
“You’ve barely said a word,” Aaron finally spoke, his voice calm but edged with concern.
Alina forced a half-smile and replied softly, “Just tired… It's been a long day.”
That was a lie, and he knew it.
But he didn’t press. Not now. Not while she was clearly trying to keep herself from crumbling.
When they reached home, the atmosphere inside the mansion was unnaturally festive. Laughter echoed from the living room. Aaron’s jaw tightened the moment he stepped inside and saw him. Lucas. Leaning back on the couch like a king returning to his palace.
“There come my darling wife,” Lucas said, his voice dripping with arrogance as he stood up.
Before she could even react, he walked over and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into a back hug, pressing his chin against her shoulder like she was his prized possession.
Her body stiffened, and her eyes darted toward Aaron for a split second.
Aaron froze on his spot. His blood began to boil seeing the scene that's unfolding In Front of him.
Lucas looked him dead in the eye and smiled sweetly, playing the perfect, loving husband in front of their unsuspecting parents.
“I was just telling them,” Lucas said, louder now so their parents could hear, “that I’ve been planning a special trip for my beautiful wife and me. A honeymoon we never got to take.”
Gasps of joy filled the room.
“Oh, that’s such a wonderful idea!” their mother beamed. “You two should definitely go for a long trip.”
Only one person didn’t clap, didn’t smile, didn’t breathe. Aaron.
His fists clenched at his sides. His teeth were grinding so hard it hurt.
He was frustrated with the whole skit his brother was playing. But what was more frustrating was Her.
He saw the way Alina kept her mouth shut. Saw the way she looked down and didn’t object. Not a word. Not a sound. And that silence. that silence screamed louder than a thousand confessions.
Without saying a word, Aaron turned and walked away.
…
Later That Night
Everyone had gone to bed. The silence of the night was eerie.
Aaron sat in his dimly lit study, a glass of whiskey untouched on the table. His mind was restless, tangled in questions, suspicions, fury.
Right on cue, he heard footsteps.
The door creaked open, and Lucas walked in as if he owned the place. Smug, relaxed, amused.
Aaron didn’t even look up at first.
“What do you want?” he asked, voice low, dangerous.
Lucas chuckled. “Come on, brother. Don’t act like that. You look like you’re about to eat someone alive.”
Aaron looked up slowly, eyes cold, sharp like broken glass. “Say what you have to say. And then get out.”
Lucas stepped in closer, confidently. “Just thought I’d explain myself. You seemed a little… upset earlier. But don’t worry, I’m not here to pick a fight. I’m just here to take my wife back. She’s been through a lot, and I think she deserves to be treated as my wife again.”
Aaron stood up.
The air changed.
“Cut the crap,” Aaron growled, his voice now a deep, animalistic threat. “Whatever it is you’re plotting, say it out loud. Price it. Trade it. I know you want something.”
Lucas laughed lightly. “Me? I already have everything I want. A golden egg-laying duck. That’s what she is. Alina’s beauty? Her obedience? With her, I can get anyone to kneel. Even you.”
And that was it.
Aaron moved like a storm breaking loose.
He lunged forward, grabbing Lucas by the collar and slamming him hard against the wall. The entire shelf nearby trembled. Aaron’s hand wrapped around his brother’s throat like an iron vice, squeezing, rage dripping from every vein on his arm.
“Say one more word about her,” Aaron snarled, his voice low, deadly. “And I swear to God, I’ll put your tongue down your throat.”
Lucas’s cocky mask cracked for a moment. His eyes widened as he struggled, shocked by the raw, lethal rage in Aaron’s eyes. This wasn’t just anger. This was fury born from obsession. Possession. Love laced with violence.
Aaron was the beast they all feared. And this is the first time he was facing his wrath.
“Kill me and you’ll never know,” Lucas gasped, voice rasping under the pressure. “Did you really think she did all that just for her sister? You think she gave herself up just for some hospital bills?”
Aaron’s grip loosened, just slightly. His eyes narrowed.
Lucas smirked again, regaining his breath. “You don’t know anything, do you? And you can’t save her if you don’t know what you’re saving her from.”
Aaron stepped back slowly, fists shaking.
Lucas straightened his collar, fixing his smug smile. “Until I hold the key, she won’t divorce me. She’s bound to me. You think this is about love? No, brother. This is control. And you? You’re just a detour.”
Aaron didn’t respond. His silence was louder than any scream.
Then Lucas added, “You should choose a better woman, Aaron. Not someone who already belongs to me. She was mine first. And she’ll always be mine.”
CRACK!
Aaron’s fist smashed into the wall, breaking through the plaster with a loud, thunderous sound. Pieces of the wall cracked and fell.
Lucas flinched. The arrogant smirk wiped clean off his face.
“You have five seconds to get out of my sight,” Aaron warned, his eyes blazing. “Before I stop caring about what I’ll do to you.”
Lucas didn’t need to be told twice. He slipped out, leaving the door wide open in his rush.
…
Alone again, Aaron stood there. hands bloody, chest heaving.
His mind raced.
What secret was she hiding?
What did Lucas mean?
Why was she still wearing that silence like a noose?
And more than anything. how was he supposed to save the woman he was falling in love with if she herself refused to be saved?
One thing was certain.
Aaron wouldn’t rest until he tore the truth out. no matter how dark it was.
….
“I’m sorry, noona. I didn’t do it intentionally. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. It’s okay, doll. Don’t worry. I won’t let you go. Trust me.”
“Just agree to whatever I’m about to ask you to do, Alina. In return, I’ll take this secret to the grave with me.”
“Am I going to be punished, noona?”
“No…”
Alina jerked awake, drenched in sweat. Her chest heaved as she struggled to breathe, the remnants of that tragic night clinging to her like a curse. Her throat felt dry from the anxiety. She grabbed the water bottle beside her and took two quick gulps.
Shhh… Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Don’t try.
She chanted the words like a mantra in her mind, desperate to calm her racing heartbeat. That night. the one that destroyed everything had long since become her recurring nightmare.
She got out of bed and walked toward the balcony, hoping the night air would ease her turmoil. The gloomy sky stretched above her, calm and silent. But inside her, a storm raged louder than any thunderclap.
Leaning against the railing, she let herself dissolve into the quiet view. No matter how composed she appeared on the outside, there was one thing that could shatter the mask she wore. the evidence.
The proof of her destruction.
That single thing was enough to keep her chained. Enough to silence her voice and protect Lucas’s image.
Should I tell Aaron?
The question had been haunting her all day, gnawing at the edge of her thoughts. Yet, no answer came.
There was one thing that stopped her. One reason she couldn’t confess it all:
Their relationship.
The blood bond between them.
No matter how cruel Lucas was, he was still Aaron’s brother. They were heirs to the most prestigious family in the country. always under the public eye, always careful to maintain a spotless reputation.
Even if Aaron was willing to fight the world for her…
He wouldn’t let himself get his hands dirty in a battle against his own blood.
After all, blood is thicker than water.
He’d never allow his brother or his family to be humiliated.
This was her mess.
And she had to clean it up herself.
Now that Cassandra was safe, finally free from Lucas’s grip, there was no reason to stay silent anymore. Her sister’s treatment no longer hung over her like a guillotine.
Which meant,
It’s time.
Time to stop being the scared little girl Lucas once controlled.
Time to fight back.
