Chapter 28

The word awkward can be felt when someone farts in a large crowd of people. Or when the room goes quiet after you say something you wished you never said. The dictionary meaning is causing difficulty; hard to do or deal with. Causing or feeling uneasy embarrassment or inconvenience. No matter how much the dictionary tries to explain certain words to you, you don't fully understand the concept until you experience it first-hand.

Like the moment your friends discover what you did after your date. It all started when we woke up in the morning. I found myself all cuddled up in Jake's arms and I needed to go to the bathroom. Cliché as it was Jake had his arm circled tightly around my waist and every time, I tried to sneakily get away his arm would tighten its hold on me.

"Jake!"

I hissed trying to wake him but he only groaned and held me tighter. With no other option I started poking him in the face. Which at first failed to achieve anything but over the time span of 30 seconds he started to wake.

The first thing I saw was his gorgeous eyes sparkling down on mine. His whole face lit up when he saw me, and it felt like my whole world just lit up as well. When you first wake up in the morning all your walls are down, allowing your true emotions to come through and his were shining like the sun. He was happy, he felt complete. Like the final missing piece has been finally restored in its rightful place.

"You are so beautiful"

He whispered cupping my cheek with his warm hands, looking down at me in adoration. I blushed leaning into his hand and he smiled placing a kiss on my forehead. We didn't speak for a while, just lay there silently sinking in this moment. Which was finally here, and I guess we both wanted to store this moment to our permanent memory.

Silence can only last so long before it is rudely interrupted by stampeding elephants. By elephants I mean Chase. Out of nowhere the bedroom door swings open and in strolls Chase.

"Jake why weren't you at.... oh, my EYES!"

He shrieked upon noticing Jake wasn't alone. While Chase shouted about the image forever lodged in his brain, Jake resorted to growling possessively at Chase while practically shielding me from Chase's view. I've always heard that newly males were possessive in the presence of any male, mated or not.

Hearing the possessive growl Chase smirked and held his hands up in mock surrender.

"Okay I'm going, go back to what you were doing"

He said backing out of the room smartly closing the door behind him. Once he was gone Jake's eyes turned back to normal and he nuzzled into my neck inhaling my scent to calm down his wolf. When he was in control again, he pulled back and smiled sheepishly while I grinned.

He let out a chuckle and started stroking the skin on my neck. It felt nice, it soothed the aching pain there.

"Your mark is beautiful"

He muttered to himself but I heard it loud and clear. I practically leaped out of the bed and sprinted to the bathroom. I turned on the light and looked at myself in the mirror. My almost non-clothed state allowed me to easily see the mark presented on my neck. It was an identical picture of Jake's wolf with his initial’s underneath, I'm sure his mark would also have my initials on it too.

"It’s beautiful"

I whispered when I felt him wrap his arms around my waist. He nodded smiling into the mirror and I couldn't help but smile back. At that precise moment in time my tummy decided to growl in protest and Jake chuckled.

"Shall we go have some breakfast?"

He said in a teasing voice and I nodded turning around.

"Now shoo, I'm going to have a shower"

I told him and before he protested, I added.

"Alone"

I said with a teasing smile closing the door and locking it behind me. After a quick shower I wrapped a towel around me and walked out into the room and headed for the wardrobe. Avoiding Jake's stare, I closed the closet door behind me and selected today's outfit.

Knowing Jake's wolf will still be on edge around males for the whole day, I choose an outfit that would show his mark. I put on a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a flower designed tank top. Along with blue flats to match the colours of the flowery tank top. Once changed I walked back into the bedroom and Jake was changed sitting on the bed.

He was scrolling through his phone, wearing a plain white t-shirt and his favourite pair of jeans and yes people he has a favourite. Hearing me walk towards him he turned off his phone and lifted his head up to face me.

"Ready?"

He asked and I nodded. He jumped up off the bed and grabbed my hand pulling me out the door. Walking downstairs towards the noisy kitchen, and we entered the room. But once we did enter the whole room went silent and all smirks were on us.

How embarrassing

Chase's POV

After walking into the newly mated couple's morning cuddle, I felt violated. Like I'd never get the image of my little sister mated in the alpha's bed. Just the image sent shivers down my spine. But at the same time, I was extremely happy.

The pack has waited years for our Alpha to find a Luna, us boys have waited years to see him smiling again. But they have waited longer to complete the mating process than medically recommended. And I was happy for them, extremely. So happy I might not even scowl them about putting a lock on that god dam door!

So, after my mental rant, I practically skipped down the stairs. Which honestly wasn't a manly move on my behalf. Reaching the kitchen, I smirked seeing all of the boys and their mates, Marcus and Mabel included. I hoped Jake and Bryn wouldn't mind me telling them, but it’s too awesome it would be pure torture to keep the secret to myself. But hey the pack would know as soon as they got a whiff of either of them, GOSH! Do they reek of each other.

I jumped into the room, landing loudly on the tiled kitchen floor. All eyes were on me and I smiled.

"You'll never guess what wonderfully scarring thing I saw"

I said enthusiastically and they chuckled.

"Um I don't know a hamster doing it?"

Nick guessed with a slight smirk and I smirked.

"No even better than that"

I exclaimed and it didn't look like they were taking me seriously. I guess being the prankster didn't make them see me as a serious person.

"Okay just spit it out Chase what's so wonderfully scarring?"

Charlie asked looking very curious and I smiled, thinking of a way to break a news.

"It finally happened, they did it!"

I exclaimed and they all looked confused.

"Who did it?"

Asked Louis and I chuckled.

"Who do you think, wait let me spell it out for you... JAKE AND BRYN SITTING IN A TREE M-A-T-I-N-G, FIRST COMES MARKING, THEN COMES MATING, THEN COMES THE BABY IN THE BABY CARRIAGE"

I sang beautifully and all was still for a moment.

"Was that your hideous method of trying to tell us Jake and Bryn mated?"

Lucas asked and I nodded with a smile causing everyone to applaud into cheers. There wasn't a face in the room bare of a smile, everyone was overjoyed at this new revaluation. To make this whole doing the dirty business even more amusing for me, the newly mated couple choose this moment to come downstairs for what I assume is breakfast.

The instant they walked into the room we all fell silent. Like the awkward moment when you're talking about someone behind their backs and they catch you red handed. I smirked at them and the new Luna blushed bright red, causing me to chuckle. Enjoying their discomfort, but you have to admit this whole situation was hilarious...
