At the Beta’s house, the former Beta of the Mythical Silver Shadow Pack and father of Lexus has been uneasy for the past few days when he learned what was happening between Lexus and Drew. Something is haunting him, something that his conscience could no longer tolerate.
“Lexus, could you help me visit Alpha Daedos’ office tomorrow? I just need to have a talk with him. I have not spoken with him for a while already.” Lexus heard what his father say when he arrived home.
“Of course, Father. Alpha Daedos will surely be happy to see you.” Lexus replied as he approached his father, who was sitting on the long sofa in their living room, and bowed his head.
“What was going on now inside the packhouse, Lexus?” suddenly, the former Beta asked, with a lit of curiosity in his almost blinded eyes.
Lexus made a deep breath and then sat beside his father on the couch, “We just came from a fight with rogues, father. Drew was attacked while running alone in the forest in his wolf form.”
The expression on the face of the former Beta outrightly changed into shock and with obvious worries. “Where is Drew now? Is he alright?” he asked, perturbed. Concern in his voice for the Alpha’s son was evident and Lexus could understand him. His father, when he was still the Beta of their pack, practically raised Drew like his own child. Drew was even close to his father that his Alpha father while growing up. It was also his father who trained Drew most of the time in martial arts and self-defense.
“Don’t worry, Father, Drew is fine. Good thing, I and Trixie followed him into the woods when we both saw him, running recklessly and without direction. He reached the danger zone and there we saw him being attacked by rogues.” Lexus pacified his father, with a thought in his mind why it was only Drew whom he asked if fine. He is his son and was also present during the fight scene, risking his life too. Or is it because his father knew his strengths and on one hand the weaknesses of Drew? He shook his head and mentally removed any sign of jealousy toward Drew for the obvious affection that his father has for the Alpha’s son.
The former Beta nodded with relief upon hearing Lexus’ assurance that Drew is fine.
Seeing his father being pacified already by his assurance, Lexus stood up and excused himself from his father.
“Father, have you have eaten your lunch already?’ Lexus asked as he heard the growling of his own stomach already. He just had a cup of coffee this morning and his stomach is now seeking to be fed.
The former Beta nodded. “Yes. The food is on the table, Lexus. Marla brought the food early, so I have eaten early too.”
Marla is one of their neighbors, whom Lexus asked to cook food for his father when he is away. Sometimes, if she is not available, their other neighbors would even offer to help. So, he has no problem or worries that his father will get hungry when he is away. As the former Beta of their Pack, he is still dearly loved and respected by their pack members.
“Alright. That is good, Father. I don’t want you to get hungry when I am not around. Meantime, I’ll go grab some food as my stomach is already growling.” Lexus walked toward the dining table after saying so. He needs to eat and go back to the packhouse. Although he could eat at the packhouse, he make it a point most of the time to come home during lunchtime to check on his father and to dine on lunch together with him.
After he finished his lunch and was about to go, his former Beta Father, once again asked, “What happened to the golden wolf, Lexus?”
He stopped walking and looked at his father. “She is still at the packhouse and we are still waiting for what will happen next. Drew would not want to give up on her even if he knew very well that I am the real mate of the Golden She-wolf.”
The former Beta fell silent as he gave Lexus an unfathomable expression.

The next day, Lexus, as he promised, assisted his father in going to the Alpha’s office at the packhouse.
As they entered the packhouse, members of the Mythical Silver Shadow Pack, who saw their former Beta, walk toward him and bowed their heads while some even hugged him. Lexus could tell that his father has been a well-loved Beta when he was still serving the pack as such. Thus, he feels pressured to be a good Beta too, for not wanting to taint or ruin the good reputation that his father built for years. He admired his father, although he is not vocal about it.
“Lexus, before I visit Alpha Daedos, could you first introduce me to the golden she-wolf? I wanted first to see her and check on her. I am quite curious as to why the two brave and gorgeous men of the Mythical Silver Shadow Pack, both wanted her,” Lexus Father said while stopping his feet from walking. He side glanced at his son and winked.
Lexus laughed and nodded. Although his father is blind, he could still see a bit of shadow and most probably could still determine if a she-wolf is worth fighting for.
“Of course, Father. Let us go to the guest room, it is where she is staying in the meantime.”
And so, they walked to the guest room where Daffodil was waiting for them already. Lexus already sent her a message, through mind-linked. Just two knocks and the door of the guestroom was opened and Daffodil’s smiling face peeped through it.
“Daff, Sweetheart, this is my father, the former Beta Alexan of the Mythical Silver Shadow Pack, and father, this is Daffodil,” Lexus said introducing his father to Daffodil, who gladly bowed her head and smiled.
“It is a privilege for me to meet you, Sir,” she stated with respect.
The former Beta fell silent as he tried to check on the last breed of the Golden Wolves through his already failing eyes. His eyes might not clearly see her aura but the strong presence that emanates from her was clearly felt by the old Beta. He could very well believe that indeed, Lexus already found the missing Golden She-wolf and it is time for him to do what he should have done a long time ago.
"It is a privilege more for an old man like me to finally meet the missing Golden She-Wolf," the former Beta said with brightness in his eyes, although light has already forsaken them.
