“Why look further when I'm right here, Ivy?” he said to her, tilting his face toward him. “I am all you need to improve Nitro Groups, sweetheart. We are at the crossroads, but… the choice is always yours to make,” Alvin whispered in her ear and placed a kiss on her earlobe before pulling away.

He left Ivy with his voice echoing in her head.
Ivy thought that she could figure out Alvin’s motives like Justin has pointed out some months ago, but everything—every assistance leads back to him making it undeniably harder than it seemed.
“I'm gonna have to think about it,” she braved up with an even tone.
“The ball is in your court. Just remember, I don't have bad intentions towards you, Ivy. I feel your grieve and your pain, I just want to do one good even though it's my last,” he added. He took up his phone and sent her a document that she had requested earlier.
“I just sent you the list of women that Nate has been involved with. If you need me? I'm only a call away,” he said one last time before leaving.

A part of get wanted to call him back, but the other part swore that it was best to let him go.
Ivy stared between the document displayed on her screen and the company’s documents on the counter.

…
The next day, Ivy set out to work at her cosmetic company. She had pressing matters to attend to. Not just that, Detective Calvin sent a reminder before their last discussion about clues.
As soon as she walked into her office, she met Ares, seated on the couch like a boss.
Baffled by his visitation, her eyes couldn't resist the sleek black coat that costs a fortune, suiting his tall figure. His curls were shiny and in the right places. He had a thing for elegance and fashion.
“Good morning, sunshine,” Ares let out, hooking Ivy with his calm, raspy voice. He rose, walking to her while she plastered a smile on her pink painted lips.
“Indeed a surprise,” she let out too. They shared a small hug and Ares wished that it could last longer but the odds were glaring. Ivy needed time, he told himself.  “What brings you here?” she asked as she strutted to her desk, taking off her blazer, leaving behind a see-through top that enodebyly caught Ares’s eyes.
“Field work!” he snapped shifting his gaze from her chest to her eyes not to look suspicious.
“Field work? What field work if I may?” she asked walking to the coffee maker on the other end.
“Oh um… I mean, field work for my job. I'm covering a case that spiraled last night. A man was murdered in cold blood, I'm yet to find out. I thought that I should drop by before… starting work,” he explained.
She returned with two cups of coffee having a cup over to Ares as they paired on the couch.

Taking a sip, she continued; “That's sad! Poor soul...” she said.
“Yeah, I’ll find out soon.” he took a sip and turned back to her. “Are you okay?”
“Me? I'm very good. I just have a couple of things to fix, but I'm getting the hang of this by the way…” she stated as he nodded.
“I wish I could help but I'm swamped with work. Currently, I'm working on a murder case as well, something about the mayor,” he explained. “Sorry, I didn't mean to bore you with my problems,” he added.
Ivy chuckled placing her cup down, “You’re not boring me. It's me, I have no clue what the fuck is going on with me. I lose interest a lot and it's maddening,” she pointed out and sighed.
“Always maddening,” he added. His phone rang before he could speak. “Excuse me,” he said to her and answered his phone.
He listened to the interlocutor on the phone for about five seconds before replying.  “Alright, I’ll be there in ten,” he said and hung up.
He put away his phone turning to Ivy.
“I have to go! My colleagues have arrived, the cops too. Will I see you later if you have the time?”
“I can’t promise you, Ares, but I could give it a shot,” she snapped truthfully.
“Great. And um, thanks for the coffee. Loved it. I’ll see you later,” Ge placed a soft kiss on her forehead and scurried out of the office, leaving trails of his cologne that gently hit Ivy’s nostrils.
  “Good God!” she sighed.

She walked back to get desk and dat by it, staring at the loads of documents she had to review and consent to.

…
As soon as it was noon, a call from Raul interrupted. She put down the paper in her hand and answered the phone.
“Yes, Raul…” she lazily let out, rolling her eyes. She was still disappointed by his words yesterday.
“Hey, Ivy. You have to come down to the company now. There's a meeting in the next thirty minutes and you have to stand in for Nate,” he said.
Her brows knitted, “Is Alvin not there?” she asked.
“Alvin is not president of Nitro groups, you are Nate’s—”
“Okay, I will be there soon. Bye!” She hung up, rubbing her forehead.
Would navigating her company's affairs and that of Nitro Groups work out? She wondered.

She tidied up the documents and dialed Ruby, her assistant to come to the office. Once Ruby entered, Ivy grabbed her blazer from the hanger. She took her bag and cellphone, making her way to the door.
“Ma’am, is there an emergency?” Ruby asked with concern.
The last time Ivy ran off like that turned out to be dreadful, Ruby debated in her mind.
“I have a meeting at Nitro Groups. I can't abscond. Please, schedule the meetings and sign the approved documents. I'm halfway done, I'll continue tomorrow if I don't return in time. Thanks hon,” she patted Ruby’s arm.
“Sure ma'am!” Ruby smiled as Ivy headed out instantly.

When Ivy reached the parking space as Alvin stepped out of his car immediately.
  “Ivy?” he called out.
Ivy spun to face him with a perplexed gaze. Was he stalking her? Why was he there?
“Are you stalking me?” she let out, unable to hide her concerns about his presence everywhere that she went.
“Stalking you?” he scoffed with a casual expression on his stern face. “Goddamn! I'm here to take you to the company, everyone’s waiting for you,” he pointed as the corner of her brow raised.
“Thanks for your… concern, but I’ll drive my car instead,” she stated firmly taking out her car key.

Something about Alvin being on her tail was beginning to piss her off.
