Chapter 670 Being King Is Pretty Good Too
Chapter 670 Being King Is Pretty Good Too
Larry opened the car door and got in.
He sat in the passenger seat.
Chloe floored the gas pedal, and the car shot forward.
She wasn't worried at all about Larry getting hurt. Seeing Larry in the car, she said huffily, "What are you even doing here? Go find your Paisley."
"Chloe, this is really a misunderstanding."
Larry started to explain.
"I have no idea what got into her today. I went to see her to discuss some follow-up matters, and while we were talking, it was like she became a different person. She said some weird things and then threw herself into my arms..."
Larry explained the whole situation in detail.
Although Chloe looked angry, she listened carefully.
When Larry mentioned that Paisley had confessed her feelings to him, she pursed her lips.
"I was totally confused. All these messy thoughts just popped into my head out of nowhere, so I used Flow Breathing to suppress them. That's why I didn't push her away right away."
"Chloe, I'm telling the truth. You have to believe me. I only see her as a little sister, nothing more."
Chloe snorted.
She had known for a long time that Paisley liked Larry.
Only this fool Larry didn't know it.
It was precisely because she knew Paisley liked Larry and would help him that she secretly helped Paisley solve the Bennett family's troubles and secure her position as family head.
Now it seemed Paisley hadn't disappointed her.
She was helping Larry plan things out, wanting to make Larry king.
However, that wasn't Chloe's original intention.
Chloe didn't want Larry to be king.
She just wanted to be with Larry wholeheartedly after they dealt with all these troublesome matters.
But hearing Larry say this now, she fell into thought.
Being king actually seemed like a pretty good choice.
Then she would be queen.
Thinking about this, her mood improved quite a bit.
"Larry, let me remind you - fooling around outside is one thing, but no matter how many women you have out there, don't let me know about it. They'll always be the other women, and I'm your wife."
Chloe said coldly.
She knew there were plenty of women who liked Larry.
Larry could still stick to his principles for now.
But after absorbing the spirit turtle core, his mind would be affected. Having some possessive thoughts when triggered by the environment was pretty normal.
Because she had turtle blood in her body too.
Over these past two months, she'd been absorbing the turtle blood, and sometimes she'd have all kinds of thoughts too.
But she'd managed to suppress them with Flow Breathing.
Larry couldn't help but glance at Chloe.
He hadn't expected Chloe to say something like that.
Chloe seemed to realize she'd misspoken and quickly said, "I'm not telling you to go find other women. If I find out, you're dead."
She made a scissors gesture with her fingers.
Larry couldn't help but squeeze his legs together.
Chloe slowed down the car.
She took a deep breath and calmed down.
"Even though I don't like Paisley, what she said isn't completely wrong. In Summer Nation right now, who has better advantages than you?"
"What do you mean?" Larry was stunned too.
Chloe said, "You're now the Southwild Dragon King. Southwild isn't what it was a few months ago. Today's Southwild Dragon City consists of cities that received compensation from enemy nations - vast territory, countless resources."
"You're also the commander of the Legion of Flame Surge, good friends with Free, and Frank's girlfriend Amelia's dad is the Northern Border Commander. Your network is pretty scary."
"Now you control most of Summer Nation's military forces. If you became king, who would dare oppose you?"
"In the Martial Arts World, you have Paisley, the Bennett family head, supporting you. You're also good friends with Gabriel from the Zephyr Order, and you have Vaughn helping you at Aurora Citadel."
"Doesn't it seem like even God wants you to be king?"
Chloe laid it all out.
Larry rubbed his nose. "When you put it that way, it does seem to be true, but I'm really not interested in being king. The person with the most power in Summer Nation might seem great, but the higher you sit, the greater the responsibility. I'm not confident I can govern a country well."
He leaned back in his seat and lit a cigarette.
"I still prefer a quiet life. Those days when I married into the Lewis family - that's what I long for. Chloe, after we solve all these messy things, after the new king takes the throne smoothly, let's find a place where nobody knows us and live a simple life, okay?"
Chloe hit the brakes.
She pulled over to the side of the road and turned to look at Larry.
With a completely serious expression, she said, "Honey, you have the strength and the ability - why not be king?"
"You really want me to be king?" Larry asked back.
Chloe shook her head. "I didn't want you to before. I just wanted you to be with me. But what Paisley said to you makes a lot of sense. Why not give it a try? Life is only a hundred years - why not work hard, accomplish something great, and become a legendary emperor?"
Larry stared at Chloe and asked, "Chloe, how did you become just like Paisley? It's only been two months, and I feel like I don't even know you guys anymore."
Chloe took a deep breath.
Just now, when Larry told her what Paisley had said, in that instant, she really did hope Larry would become king.
Now, that thought, that desire, was slowly fading.
After calming down, Chloe smiled gently. "As long as I'm with you, whatever you do, I'll support you. I'll help you without hesitation."
"Let's head back first."
Larry said softly.
Chloe continued driving back.
Larry sat in the passenger seat, smoking and lost in thought.
King?
Honestly, he'd never thought about it.
That position was indeed tempting - countless people fought tooth and nail to get it.
What he was thinking about was what to do next.
Paisley's words did make sense.
He thought he could create a consortium or a business association.
Then bring together some powerful companies to form an alliance.
That way, when Aurora Citadel fell into chaos, they could quickly stabilize the situation.
Right now, the people he could think of were only Abigail and Sue from Sunset City.
Soon they returned to the house Chloe had bought.
In the living room.
Larry sat down.
Chloe sat beside him, picked up the True Evil Sword from the table, and gently wiped it.
Seeing this, Larry couldn't help but ask, "Chloe, you still have this sword?"
"Yeah."
Chloe nodded.
"This sword hasn't had any negative effects on you, has it? Over these two months, the turtle blood in your body hasn't acted up, has it?"
Chloe smiled. "What would act up? I can basically suppress the negative effects from the turtle blood now. Plus, I'm trying to absorb the energy in the blood and convert it into my own Qi."
Larry was alarmed. "Didn't Grandpa warn you..."
Chloe put down the True Evil Sword in time, nestled into Larry's arms, and interrupted him. "Honey, I know what I'm doing. I learned Flow Breathing - this is something the True Evil King spent a hundred years creating specifically to suppress turtle blood. There definitely won't be any problems. Look at me now - I'm fine, aren't I?"
