Chapter 116 The Confession
Chapter 116 The Confession
On Thursday, neither Milly nor Parker showed up for class. It was the second-to-last day and it was important to keep up the pace to finish. When Jonathan and Elizabeth were leaving, Adam was waiting for them. Elizabeth found it strange that her brother was there. He would need a good reason to show up like that out of the blue.
“My brother, what a surprise!” Elizabeth said as she hugged him. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to ask about your friend. Dave is a mess, really unbearable. Besides only talking to our father and drinking until he passes out, he’s been like this since Tuesday. I thought they might have fought.”
“Adam, Milly only came on Monday. After that, I couldn’t talk to her anymore.”
“The last time I saw her was on Monday too. She spent the weekend with Dave and on Monday morning he dropped her off at work. After that, he didn’t mention her again.”
“Jonathan, what can we do?” Elizabeth asked, worried.
“Let’s go to your brother’s house. We’ll try to talk to Dave. If he’s like this, he must know something…”
They followed Adam home. When they arrived, Dave was sitting on the sofa. He had a sad expression and was drinking something strong straight from the bottle. He hadn’t even gotten a glass. He drank with a vacant stare. He heard his siblings arrive, but he didn’t move, nor did he look at Elizabeth when she approached.
“Dave… What happened, my brother?” Elizabeth questioned and intended to sit beside him, but Jonathan didn’t allow it. He knew that men can change completely when driven by alcohol.
“Did you come to ask about your friend the whore? Ask that stuck-up pretty boy who takes her home…” Dave laughed loudly at his own thought.
“Dave, did you and Milly fight?”
Elizabeth asked and received a cold look from Dave. He didn’t answer and continued drinking.
“Our father is right. Women are only good in bed. Outside of it, they cause a lot of damage. I should have locked her up here. I should have made her my prisoner…”
On the table in front of Dave was a small box. He opened it and showed the ring he had bought.
“I can’t believe I bought this shit for that bitch! Take it, Elizabeth. You’re the only decent woman I know.”
Dave held out his hand with the ring to her, and Elizabeth stood still, not knowing how to act at that moment.
“Take it, damn it!” Dave shouted, and Elizabeth timidly took the ring from his hand.
“You’re not going to yell at her! No matter what the problem is, you’re not going to treat Elizabeth like that.” Jonathan said and received the same icy look from Dave, but he didn’t back down. He stared at his brother-in-law, who laughed softly and went back to drinking.
“Dave, do you know what happened to Milly? She disappeared.” Jonathan questioned.
“Don’t say that whore’s name near me!” Dave shouted. He stood up, stumbling over his own feet, and tried to approach Elizabeth, but Jonathan placed himself between them. Dave laughed at his brother-in-law’s attitude.
“You know my father thinks you made that mark on her. He believes Elizabeth is abused by her husband. If he knew you’re the one who protects her the most, she’d be in trouble.”
Even with Jonathan in front of her, Elizabeth could smell the alcohol and her stomach turned. She made a face and turned her head away.
“Your friend liked it. She never drank, but she liked it when I drank something strong and kissed her. She said the taste of the drink on me was good, it tasted like lust and she enjoyed that. Then I would take her to bed, fuck her until I saw her smile satisfied…” Dave said and took another swig from the bottle.
“That’s enough. You’ve had too much to drink.” Jonathan said and took the bottle from his hands.
“I’m going to throw him under the shower… Elizabeth, please make some really strong coffee.” Jonathan asked.
Elizabeth went to the kitchen while Jonathan, with great difficulty and Adam’s help, took Dave to the bathroom. They threw him on the floor and let the water fall over him.
Afterwards, they took him to the bedroom. On the bed there were some torn photos of Milly. It was as if he wanted to forcefully erase everything he had lived with her. Most of the photos were of her alone. She had many and he had asked for some. Of course he took the most sensual ones. That was the romantic side that not even Milly herself knew. Dave liked looking at her photos, seeing her smile, and hearing her call him a fool for any reason.
Elizabeth entered the bedroom timidly with the coffee in her hands. She also brought some pills and water. She knew Dave’s hangover wouldn’t be small.
“My brother, you need to talk… Do you know what happened to Milly?” Elizabeth asked from a distance. Jonathan stayed between them to protect his wife.
Dave just smiled and nodded yes.
“Dave, then tell us! Where is she?” Elizabeth asked, tired of the lack of information.
“That bitch is dead! I killed Milly myself…”
