CHAPTER 135 (Second-Gen)
CHAPTER 135 (Second-Gen)
She sprung up, and her chair went flying, but that was the least of her worries. Her brain short-circuited for about two seconds, before she cussed.
"Shit!!" She yelled. She took of her slippers, and reached for her black heels. She put them on, and grabbed her handbag.
She rushed out the door, but paused when she realized that she forgot her personal phone. She groaned, and turned around.
"Why did Derrick have to fall sick today of all days!" She grumbled, and snatched up her phone.
She walked out into the corridor, and walked towards the lift where Axel's desk was. Axel looked up at the sound of her heels, and smiled.
"Miss Knights. Are you going somewhere?" He asked, and typed something into the computer before him.
Nadia stopped in front of his desk "Yes, get your stuff for the day, you're coming with me" She said, and Axel furrowed his brows.
He blinked "What? But I have to fix your schedule for tomorrow, and also my lunch is in an hour. I can't miss lunch!" He almost yelled the last part with a terrified.
Nadia sighed "Okay, fine. I'll buy you a whole Chocolate lava cake" She bargained, and Axel's expression brightened.
Nadia was surprised at how easily it was to win him over. You could slap a strawberry popsicle onto his palm, and he'd even start worshipping you.
"Deal!" He said, and grabbed his bag, and his phone.
He walked around the table, and stopped in front of her. Due to his height she had to look up at him. Axel tilted his head to the side.
"What?" He asked, and blinked.
Nadia smiled "Nothing. I just realized how cute you actually are. Come on we're already late as it is" She patted him on the cheek, before pressing the lift button.
Nadia placed her head on her steering wheel, and groaned.
"Fucking old jerks!!" She spat, and her hands tightened around the steering wheel.
"It wasn't that bad" Axel whispered beside her.
Nadia turned her head to look at him, and scoffed.
"Wasn't that bad? They literally grilled me! For being ten minutes late!!" She yelled, and Axel flinched.
Nadia's expression softened, and she relaxed her facial expression. She sighed, and leaned back on her seat.
"Can't really blame them tho. I would have gotten angry as well if someone set up a meeting, and be late for that very meeting too" She muttered, and smiled at him.
"So...."Her eyes sparkled" How about I get you that cake I promised you? "She asked, and started her the car.
Axel's expression lite up, and he immediately fastened his seat belt.
Nadia stepped on the gas, and the car drove into the late afternoon street towards the city's largest bakery.
When they arrived at the bakery, Nadia parked the car, and stepped out with Axel who was further in front from her.
Nadia locked the car, and followed Axel who was hopping around like a five years old who was going to Disneyland for the first time.
When they walked inside the bakery, a young man with curly ginger hair rushed towards Nadia, and grinned at her.
Nadia smirked at him " Pat" She said, and pulled him into a hug.
"It's been a while. It's quite strange for our favorite customer to stay away from her favorite bakery for more than a week " Patrick Harris said, with a teasing smile.
Nadia chuckled "Yeah, I've been busy lately, but...." She turned her gaze towards Axel who was now glaring at Patrick. "Unfortunately, the cake I ordered isn't for me. It's for this cutie here" She said, and turned her gaze back to Patrick.
She frowned when she noticed the horrified look on Patrick's face, he looked as pale as a ghost as he stares at Axel.
Nadia frowned "Pat? Are you okay?" She asked. She touched him on the shoulder causing him to flinch.
He blinked, and turned to Nadia who was staring at him in concern. He forced a smile.
"What?! Yeah.. Yeah, I'm fine... I thought he was someone I knew" He replied referring to Axel who hadn't stopped glaring.
Patrick glanced at Axel one last time before turning away.
"I'm gonna go get the cake" He muttered, and left.
Nadia raised a brow at him. Patrick was the carefree type, barely stopped smiling, and always positive. Seeing him like this is quite concerning.
She turned her gaze to Axel, who was looking at her with an odd expression "What?" She asked, with a light shrug.
Axel tilted his head"Do you like him? "He asked, and Nadia frowned.
She then burst into laughter. The people in the bakery turned towards her but she didn't pay any attention to them. She held her stomach, tears fell down her cheeks.
Axel watched her while pouting. His annoyance clearly obvious.
Nadia took a deep breath, and looked at Axel. She ended up laughing again.
"W.. What's so funny?" Axel asked, and folded his arms across his chest.
Nadia giggled and cleared her throat "Axel, Patrick is gay" She said, and shook her head "Are you jealous?" She nudged him with her shoulder, and Axel huffed.
" You even hugged him" He muttered making Nadia to giggled.
Nadia found it amusing how easily he warmed up to her to the extent that he wasn't afraid to show his dissatisfaction.
Patrick returned with the cake. It was placed in a plastic round container, He gave it to Axel while avoiding his gaze.
"Alright, Pat. I'll transfer the money to the bakery later" She said, and patted Axel on the shoulder as an indication for them to leave.
Patrick didn't say anything, and waited for Nadia to turn around before glancing up at Axel. He flinches when he met blue icy pupils staring at him. Patrick looked down, and moved away.
Axel's lips curled into a twisted smirk, before turning around. The little lamb has been warned. He thought, and rushed after Nadia.
Nadia got into her car, and Axel got in the passenger seat. She yawned, and rolled her shoulder.
She glanced at Axel and frowned.
"Where's the cake?" She asked him, and furrowed her brows.
Axel pointed at the back seat" I'm not worthy enough to hold it"He said, catching Nadia off-guard.
She laughed"What are you talking about? It's literally just a cake. How does that even matter? "She asked, and Axel shrugged.
She giggled, and decided to let him be. She started the car.
" How about I take you home? "She glanced at him, and he nodded.
She drove towards his apartment, which was at the other side of the city. The place were the rich wouldn't go, even if it was to save their lives.
She parked in front of his apartment building, and turned to look at him.
"Okay, so I'll see you tomorrow. Make sure that you've on time unlike today" She smiled at him, and he nodded.
"I'm not gonna give some grand speech so good night" She added, but frowned when he didn't move.
She furrowed her brows "Do you need anything? Your cake......" Her words got caught in her throat when Axel suddenly closed in for a kiss.
