Chapter 36
Chapter 36
|| AZRAEL DE LUCA'S POV ||
A WEEK LATER IN ITALY,
Honestly, this mansion has never been my favorite place, especially after the night when our entire family was killed brutally. Countless guards gave their lives to save us. I was way better at living in a different state with a different identity. No one knew my real identity there except a very few people. Everyone knew me as the biggest investor in the country Azrael De Luca. It had been an hour since I reached here yet I started missing Ryan beside me. After his mother left for work, he was always by my side.
" WELCOME BACK, DON!", the chief of our guard greeted me, bowing longingly as I stepped inside the mansion in a kingly manner. Because this was my place, my territory was to rule solely. Two rows of black-uniformed bodyguards were already waiting for me there. They all hung their head low at my presence.
I kept my head high and strolled through the entrance before ending up in the front garden of our mansion. Matteo and David were closely following me behind. As soon as we went closer, the sound of gun shooting hit our ears. I sighed, thinking about the ridiculous habit of this old man.
I gestured at them to stay there, then headed for the man who was shooting attentively. I called him softly,
" Grandpa!"
He didn't look back to greet me immediately. Like always, his priority was shooting. Something actually runs in veins.
" So, you finally know to show up at home?", he responded coldly, turning his head back to send me a glare. Even at this old age, he looked nothing like a sixty-year-old guy. Probably because he maintained his health too well and made sure to go on exercise every day. Fernando De Luca once was a name that used to be everyone's nightmare. He had handled the mafia world successfully for more than 20 years. The next, my father inherited his legacy but he wasn't a violent person like him. He used to crave a simple life which he never allowed. Later on, I succeeded in the position and lived up to my grandfather's expectations. I became the person that he exactly wanted ruthless and powerful. So powerful that people here feared to breathe the same air with me. He was wearing only a loose robe with a cold face similar to mine.
He did trigger his final shot and put the gun aside before heading for the armchair behind. I followed him closely, and replied as a matter of fact,
" I was doing business. It might take a few more months. As you know, it's a completely new territory. "
He hummed softly, dragging lazy puffs from his cigar. I sat down, facing him. I didn't wish to stay here longer when Ryan and Kiera were there, unsaved. The last attack did scare me a lot. I had to raise my powers in that state very fast.
He spoke calmly, dragging his feet over the table,
" Did you come here to see your sister? Naturally, you don't bother to meet me."
Well, it was indeed the truth that I didn't like to meet him frequently. In the past, many times he forced me to do something which I didn't like to make myself stronger. Some of those actions left a lifelong regret inside my mind.
I forced myself to act stronger, started after clearing my throat,
" No...This time, I came to meet you because I have something important to say to you."
His brows were crooked slightly before saying,
" Go ahead!"
Just when I parted my lips to say to him, a familiar voice rang from a different direction with footsteps,
" You shouldn't talk about business always, Luca. Grandfather is getting old now."
I looked at the way to find the least expected here. It was Cassendra Mitchell, coming over us with a big smile. Cassandra was the daughter of the Mitchell family who was very close to my grandpa. In fact, when we were toddlers, they used to match-making us. Hell, I never liked her a bit. Cassandra was fucking nagging and too arrogant whilst all she could do was waste her father's money. Her family and we were affiliates for a long time.
Grandpa gave her a big smile affectionately,
" There...my favorite girl comes.. Only she cares for this old man.."
He pretended to be a victim after a long sigh. Cassandra went over to my grandpa's side, hugged him from one side, and fixed her eyes on me to tell with a grin,
" How are you, Luca? I haven't seen you for a long time."
She went to complete graduation in the USA for the past few years. After that, we never met each other or had any contact. I replied to her coldly,
" Good! Why are you here?"
I sounded a little annoyed because she was a big manipulator to my grandpa. Even in our childhood days, she used to fake crying to win everyone's favor. I didn't know how much she changed or not but her presence had already annoyed me.
Her face became a little stiff over my words as if she was expecting me to welcome her with wide arms. Grandpa's cold voice pierced through the air,
" Azrael!! Is that how you talk to a guest? Pay attention to your words!"
Cassandra pretended to be pitiful, replied rubbing a hand on Grandpa's shoulder,
" It's okay, Grandpa! Luca and I haven't met each other for a long time. I think it makes our thoughts different. But we will get along soon."
Hell.. Like I wanted...
Before she could add more sugar-like words, I reminded my grandpa strictly,
" Grandpa, I had something to talk to you.."
Grandpa nodded his head without asking Cassandra, an outsider,
" Just say it!"
I replied shortly, sending Cassandra a glare,
" Privately!"
Grandpa's eyes froze in shock for a while. Then he began to scold loudly,
" You brat... Cassandra is our family. Do you still want to leave her? Geez!!"
Before I could retort anything, Cassandra proceeded to leave, putting on a sorry face,
" It's okay, Grandpa..I..I should come later.."
She scurried away thankfully, leaving us alone. Just when she left, Fernando De Luca blurted in fury,
" How dare you make her sad? She is going to be one of us soon."
I didn't bother to talk about unnecessary topics at this moment. Taking a deep breath, I blurted in a serious voice,
" Grandpa, I impregnated a girl five years back..Now..I have a son...I got an heir..."
I knew that I was done at that moment. But I had to face it sooner or later.
