Milo pov
“I am not tapping out.”
my voice came out not more than a whisper, but they heard it regardless
The crowd went wild, the room exploded.
What if I could take more? What if I could be more than just an ordinary shadow, and prove that I was not just an omega?
I realised with a horrified expression that a deep part of me wanted more. Not because of the influence of the voice, nor anything, but a dangerous part of me I didn't know existed wanted to win.
Ignoring James who was signaling for me to end it all, I lowered my hands, my eyes narrowed on the four remaining shadows.
The 101th tick sounded, immediately the remaining four shadows moved explosively, but this time, things were different. I was not going to seat like a duck and waiting,
They closed with more coordination than before. Not the kind of brute force but the kind of practiced cruelty that comes from years of training. It was obvious that they were now weary and were now taking the fight seriously.
The chain-user whirled his weapon Luke a sceptre of death, while those with the dangerous looking whip flanked his side, the one with the sword, followed at the rear, as if he couldn’t care less, but I couldn't help the shiver that runs down my body everytime i look to long at him.
The evil voice in my head grew louder than ever. “Make them pay, yes milo, tear them apart, like how they tried to. Show them you cannot be taken.”
The thirst for blood was so thick I almost gagged in disgust. My mind flared as I reached for a little bit of control. I called out for lior.
“Lior,” I begged inside my head. “Lior, where are you?”
Silence greeted me, but not for long. A small pulse answered me at first, before it continued to grow, transforming into a warm heart that spread throughout my body. My vision cleared, my perception of the world changed immediately, becoming sharper and more focused. I could feel a small tingling in my feets, as my movement became even faster than before. In one swift motion, I moved away from my previous position, at the same time four different attacks landed where I was previously.
My heart lurched forward at the force and power behind each of their attacks. It was as if they were taking this a little too seriously than intended.
All their attacks missed me, but they didn’t let it deter them, if anything they rebounded back, their explosive power not reducing at all. Each swing, each last minute call felt like I was inches away from death's doors.
I weaved through them with enough grace that shocked even me to my bones. Either they swung a little too late, or I had predicted correctly and used their own attack to counter attack each other, but each of my moves was like a grand master that was training his students. Lior howled inside my head, his excitement mixing with my adrenaline.
Tick 125th, rang, and neither have managed to land a direct blow to my body. My only wound was the one I had taken from the one with the long sword.
“Let's see how you would dodge this one.” one of them said, before they charged spread out side by side, leaving no room for escape, but I didn’t let myself fall into despair, without having control of my body. I charged forward, instead of backward.
“my heart thudded as I ran towards the charging group. Everything in me screamed for me to turn back, but I was no longer thinking straight again.
“Noo milo” I could hear James' voice flatly from the background, but I was far away to turn back. I slid, barely sidestepping the first stroke of the whip as it whizzed past my ears. only to meet the chain man and the sword who raised their hands up to strike down at the same time. To my left the second whip shadow smiled before his hands moved, my eyes flickered behind me, but the first whip shadow I had sidestepped, had recovered itself, and was already at my back, waiting…
To them my fate was sealed, as I had nowhere to go, but a small sadistic inhuman smile tugged at my lips.
What my attacker didn't expect was for me to change direction at the last minute. I had baited them, and they had unknowingly fallen into my trap. The blow came like thunder, rattling all bones, but that was joy all. Using the added force from the whip force, I shoved myself into the man with his hands still raised up. I punched with all my strength in mid-air, everything had happened within seconds after we collided, but then,
The 150th Tick rang, followed by the sound of a weapon clattering to the ground echoed in my ears like music.
“two down!!” The announcer announced.
The crowd erupted again, but this time, it was no longer just a cheer for fun, I could feel respect in their voices. Together with acknowledgment replacing their cheering.
I staggered up, wiping away the little blood from my mouth as a result of the blow I had taken for this small victory. I had run straight for the direction of the whip, while using that little space of time to catch one off guard, and it had worked.
Two down.
My blood roared in my head, and without giving them a chance, I lunched at the one that was a little far from the rest, taking the remaining three by surprise, especially my main target, who would never think I would take the initiative to attack first.
I rolled forward advancing on all four. The whip shadows didn't falter despite being caught off guard. He launched an attack of his own immediately, but I had already expected it. I grabbed the whip, ignoring the hot searing pain as I used the momentum and swung it in the opposite direction, the direction of the incoming second whip shadow. It connected on his wrist, a shrill scream tore out from him, as his grip on his whip lessened. That second was all I needed. I twisted with all the strength, and wrenched his weapon away from his hands, before he could react.
For a second, I could hear nothing but my own blood, everyone fell into a deep hot silence.
“Three down!!”
