Chapter 58 Chapter 58
Chapter 58 Chapter 58
Suddenly, gunfire exploded throughout the house. It was so sudden, that Lydia stood up from the toilet floor, her heart slamming violently against her ribs, before her mind could even understand what had happened for one disoriented second.
She thought, she had a dream and then suddenly another burst too came through the morning silence, outside louder this time, sharp enough to shake the window.
"What was that?" Sophia was screaming from the top floor and she could hear, she could hear the distress in sofia's voice and she was running down the stairs, trying to reach Lydia very quickly.
But Lydia simply could not move at all. The peace of the moment had quietly and very quickly gone and vanished completely. Somewhere outside men were shouting over one another and their voice tense and urgent beneath the sound of running footsteps.
"What was that?" Sophia said, and grabs onto Lydia, pushing her backwards. It was almost as if Sofia was protecting Lydia, but before Lydia could answer, a very violent explosion erupted outside of the house.
The entire room shock painfully, and the walls trembled hard enough to crack the windows, mirrors, everywhere but outside there was crash against the marble, the blast hit with enough force that the bed, and the table, and the chair itself shifted slightly beneath them. And beside them.
Sofia was immediately in front of Lydia.
"Stay behind me." She said to her, already very protective but Lydia ignore her immediately and the nausea from earlier twisted sharply beneath her ribs, again. But adrenaline drowned most of it, now her pulse thundering painfully in her ears.
While, another distant blast of gunfire and a bomb erupted across the property.
This was not normal and this wasn't even a warning. She had experienced this once before, but it was with Arthur. For the first time, she was far away from him and right now someone is attacking her house.
The moment Sophia opened the door and both of them walked out into the living room, the chaos hit them fully. The hallway outside had transformed completely and Arthur's men were moving rapidly through the corridors.
Weapons withdrawn, voice cutting through sharp, sharply through the air. As orders were shouted throughout and very functional earpieces filled with static.
One of the guards stumbled past them with blood running down heavily through the side of his face. Lydia let out a sharp breath holding an onto Sofia, her eyes wide open in shock. The guard had his one hand pressed tightly against his shoulder, while another man held on to him before the man could collapse completely.
Debris now on the front gate.
"They bombed it."
"They breached the front gate..."
"They bombed it..." Multiple voices coming through.
The men said, now moving around.
"Go upstairs.."
"We need more security now."
"We lost cameras on the east side."
All of this was being said, and right then another blast shook the entire estate before the sentence even finished and Lydia's body was physically shaking. How ever, it was not the same for Sophia.
Sophia was standing there, protective of Lydia.
Although, this blast was much closer and much more flickering violent.
Lydia froze completely near the staircase. A smoke began curling faintly through the lower level of the house.
Several of black SUV's near the entrance gate were already engulfed in flames. Her stomach dropped. Instantly a bomb, not one but multiple came through, and the realization struck were hard enough to make her go cold..
This had been planned carefully. The attack outside was brutal and then moved through the property with terrifying precision, while Arthur's security fought desperately to put position around the estate.
Gun fire erupted from several directions, advance bullet tearing through the stone glass, while smoke rolled heavily across the front garden and Sophia immediately grabbed on to Lydia, pushing her down on to the ground.
"STAY HERE..." She screamed.
One of Arthur's guards were dragged behind an overturned vehicle near the gate. Blood was completely covered in the pavement beneath him, while another exploded detonating somewhere along the walls of the property.
"Huuhh... huhhh. huhh.." Lydia was gasping for air.
Her hands on her ears, she felt like the world was completely disturbingly, disappearing but not quick enough. There was debris flying through everywhere and still attacks kept advancing.
The blast never stopped. It only got bigger, stronger and loud enough. This time the ceiling above them was letting out heavy dust. The house itself seemed to ground beneath the force of it all.
It was all about to break.
And that is when Sophia took matters in her own hands, and grabbed onto the Lydia. As she was standing there, and she was shaking as well, at the moment. With her wide eyes, in pain and shock, she looked at Sophia who had determination in her own eyes.
She did not look scared, she looked like she knew what to do next.
"We need to move now ..." She said. And one of the guards rushed to them and his breath now sharp. And he screamed towards them.
"SAFE ROOM NOW..." He said immediately, and that is exactly what Sophia did. Taking her up the stairs, when gun fire erupted but now inside of the house. This screamed Lydia to death.
This was not outside.
But this was inside of her own house. Through the hallway that they both were resting, talking and eating, just a few hours ago. And now it was all powered by shouting, and unmistakable sound of bodies crashing against the walls.
Lydia turned around to see both Arthur's men and the other men were all on the ground. Both the enemies falling.
The guards expression changed instantly, with pure alarm.
"They are inside." He said loudly. The words barely left his mouth, before two more explosion detonated somebody outside the estate. In rapid succession.
The force now strong enough to shake the windows, violently and then blow them out. The glass shattered across the marble. And now the smell of the smoke was very thick in the air.
It was then that she understood the cold reality of the matter. And now, thee fire stopping both sides off the voices and her body was going stunned. Because who ever these men were, they were trying to scare anyone. They were prepared for the war. A war without a warning, and a war of cowards.
Because, as she was going up the stairs, that is when Lydia saw that who ever these men were, they were not firstly attacking Arthur's men.... "no". They were attacking the civilians outside.
The bombing happened outside to her neighbors houses, before. It was their bodies laying on the ground and blood coming out of them. And Arthur's men were helping every one, including Lydia.
These men who were bombing were cowards. And they were hurting people that did not belong in this world. And Arthur's men were saving every single person they could.
A sudden realization of what was happening completely shook Lydia.
The men that she thought were horrible, killers, were actually helping people. And here she was standing completely helpless and scared for her and Sophia's life. And that fact that Arthur was not here, and people who did not deserve to lose their lives, losing their life.
