Chapter 57 Chapter 57
Chapter 57 Chapter 57
By the time morning fully settled over the house, Lydia was still asleep. The candles from the night before had burned themselves out hours ago. Leaving behind thin trails of cooled wax scattered across.
There was a faint lingering scent of smoke drifting quietly through the house. Pale sunlight slipping softly through the large window of bedroom of the house. Warming the room in its soft shades of gold came through the large bedroom, while the world outside acme to life.
Sometime during the night, the girls had eventually abandoned the living room floor and couch. And finally made their way upstairs go to sleep. Both of them completely exhausted to care about anything, except for sleep and a good shut eye.
And that is exactly what they did.
However, the shopping bags were still resting near the bedroom wall, completely untouched. A piece or a few pieces of clothing have been pulled out from the packaging, after Sophia had apparently insisted on reviewing her purchases... properly. Before immediately passing out after.
Sophia was still completely unconscious beside Lydia, now her body spread across the bed in a way that somehow took up far more space than seemed physically possible. Because her one arm was dramatically thrown across the pillow, while her hair covered half of her face. And the blanket that she had on her, had completely twisted around her leg during the night... like she had fought a war between sleep or in her sleep.
Any of that could have been a possibility.
Even unconscious, she looked extremely chaotic. However, the owner of the house, Lydia slowly woke up beside her. Yes, she was completely exhausted and still that exhaustion had wrapped heavily around her body.
For a few moments she did not move at all, she simply stayed staring towards the ceiling while soft morning light was touching the side of her face.
However, the ache in her neck reminded that. And sharing a bed with Sophia apparently came with a survival risk.
A small wave of irritation settled over her, then the sleepy kind that came naturally after waking up. Uncomfortably turning her head, slightly she looked over at Sophia and her ridiculous sleeping position and sound slightly.
"How are you still alive?" She muttered, quietly beneath her breath and Sophia did not react in the slightest. She was nowhere around at the moment.
Lydia smiled to her softly, realizing to herself that she was actually thinking about so many other things except for her horrible life. And she shook her head softly to herself before carefully pushing the blanket aside and sitting up slowly.
Her room, her very room around her remained very quiet, but not in a painful way silence usually felt lately in her life.
This morning, it felt soft in so many ways possible. Somehow it was peaceful, the house itself had finally grown tired of carrying grief in every corner. She looked tied too and beneath her eyes before swinging her legs over the side of the bed.
Her body felt strange in the morning. Extremely happy and worn slightly off in a way she couldn't explain properly. And yet, at first she ignored it completely and she blamed the wine from the last night. The shopping from the day before, they had to do walking all across Italy, the emotional exhaustion, the lack of sleep, any of these things would have made sense to her. After everything the past few days and yesterday put her through, are all these days have done to her personally made her tired.
Nevertheless, she quietly and carefully got up, not waking Sofia in the slightest. Lydia slowly stepped out of the bedroom and made her way downstairs towards the kitchen. The cold marble beneath her bare feet help slightly, though the strange heaviness inside of her remained. She slowly pushed one of the shopping bags away from her with her legs and made her way into the kitchen.
When she reached the kitchen counter, she grabbed a glass, filling it with water and leaned back against the cold surface, while soft sound of running water filled the silence around her for a second.
Everything around her was feeling very normal. She could hear school buses outside and children already running and their parents yelling at them, running after them, carrying their bags.
She could see all of it through the window of her house. It almost made her laugh, this young generation of kids.. kids were very rebellious and very headstrong, something even she was not as a child.
It was funny to see parents walk and run behind them. But she couldn't help but think how suffocating it is to wake up so early in the morning and get ready for school. Lydia looked at the clock in the living room, only to see it was 6:30 Am.
Her face made an expression of complete disbelief and she was thinking about how parents had to wake up so early in the morning to send their kids to school... every... single... day and that thought made her freak out.
However, this beautiful moment turned uneven as another snap wave of nausea moved to a stomach, painful enough, now.
That she had to force herself to stay standing. Slowly, Lydia lowered herself into one of the kitchen chairs before her neck, suddenly didn't feel steady anymore.
"Damn it." She said to herself, putting her hands on her head, massaging it. She knew she shouldn't have drank so much. She thought to herself. Her eyes closed, frown on her face and lines forming on her forehead.
How ever, the room around her seems strangely distant from a moment, while she pressed a hand lightly against her stomach, trying to breathe through whatever this was. How ever, the nausea did not spare and it did not disappear as well.
It lingered heavily beneath her ribs, and her confusion began slowly cutting through exhaustion and that is when she immediately rushed to the washroom. When a very small, with a very heavy feeling of throwing up came right to her.
Her body bent and her hand holding onto her mouth. She ran up to the common bathroom and immediately started throwing up painfully. Everything she had last night was all out and her breathing heavy and feeling very faint as well. She sat down right next to the wall of the bathroom.
She knew she was not the drinking type, but she only knew it was the food and nothing more. Lydia was just feeling like shit.
"How much more of this?" She said t herself. Feeling like vomiting up once more.
