Chapter 49 Chapter 49
Chapter 49 Chapter 49
The moment the car door shut behind August the smile disappeared from August face completely. The silence inside the vehicle turned heavy almost instantly, as the city moved outside the tinted windows in blood streak of sunlight and traffic.
One of the men inside of the front passages seat was rigid and quiet, while the driver kept both hands tight on the wheel careful. Not to say anything.
August leaned back against the leather seat slowly, his face going tight. One hand resting against his mouth, anger settling deep inside of his skin.
The car remains silent for almost a few moments before the man seated beside him finally spoke up. It was his uncle.
"You have pushed too far this time August."
August eyes shifted towards his uncle, without turning his head fully.
"Have I done that? Is that really what I have done today uncle? Are you telling me you are not disappointed in me again?" He said and his uncle looked unimpressed by everything
The tension of filling up inside of the car. His one arm resting against the door while his other hand was holding on to 1/2 finished glass of whiskey, that he had not touched since leaving the office behind.
"You walked into the Romero building and his territory and provoked him." His uncle brought out everything that was going to happen.
"And you provoked him by using the name of his woman." He said.
"You are lucky you have walked out of there alone, and just with handprint on your neck." He said and, that is when he remembered Arthur's hand around his neck, that was still burning him, but it did not hurt. It was just a memory of that pain sinking into his core.
"You turned out to be the luckiest man alive to not come out in pieces."
A faint humour smile touched August mouth.
"No uncle, this time you are absolutely wrong." He said to himself.
"Arthur was lucky Marcus was there." And that earned him a look that his uncle could not resist.
August leaned forward slightly and then rested his elbows against his knees. The frustration slowly opening across his face.
"Now I don't think anyone in this world is understanding what is really happening here uncle." He said and his uncle was very much interested to know what he was even talking about.
"And what is the entire world collectively not understanding August." He said, losing his interest.
"That the mafia Lord is changing in more than many ways that anyone can understand. He is mentally, physically and even emotionally... changing." He said quietly and the smile now growing onto him.
"That now, makes him dangerous in all the wrong ways and only to him. This is what the world is missing out on." He said that, the man possessed with some kind of demon inside of him and his uncle studied him silently.
August exhaled through his nose.
"Arthur used to be able to think clearly all the time. It was his main power of source. The man was always cold, and he was precise and that is gone. Now all this time he was untouchable, but now he is emotional. Something nobody sees coming." He said, thinking deeply about it. But his uncle frown, shaking his head.
"You call that emotional?" He said looking at his nephew in the most dry expression ever.
"He nearly crushed your throat...."
"Exactly.........." August said his voice loud that he had found some cure for an uncurable disease.
August looked towards the window again. His eyes growing darker than ever.
"This woman... to him, she matters a lot, so much more than anyone else has ever. She's not just anyone who sleeps with him, no. Arthur knows, touching her is a privilege. Standing next to her is a privilege to him, speaking to her is like talking to something he could not ever reach." He said, and his uncle listened.
"She is just a woman August... His wife.." His uncle reminded him.
"And that is where you're wrong. To him, this woman is everything. The mafia Lord begs for her attention. The mafia Lord thinks to do right by her. She did not even try, but her presence made him this way. If anyone is dangerous, it is her." He said and this frustrated his uncle.
"She is just a woman.." His uncle said disturbed by all of these statements August was making and he shook his head.
"No..." He whispered.
"She is The Queen of the Mafia's. Who has The Mafia Lord in her control." He said, telling him the reality of the matter.
His eyes gloomy, going darker and even big as ever.
However, the older man remained quiet for a moment, before finally speaking
"And so, if that is really the case. If that is what you're saying. I have to let you know August. That in my years of living in this world, in this evolving nature. Powerful men in love are difficult to destroy. They will do anything in the power to protect." He let him know.
"No uncle..." August said, correcting his uncle.
"Powerful men in love destroyed themselves eventually." He said, with a smile that was unmatched and his uncle could only sit there watching him. Knowing that this was not going to end well.
