Chapter 86 Extra Chapter 1
Chapter 86 Extra Chapter 1
Mini's POV
I stared out at the swing. The garden was manicured yesterday, it was lemon green under the full light of the sun. It was our usual place to hang out most of the time after school. We never struggled to find another friend. We were enough for each other. I could digest food but secrets… never. I couldn't sit in rest until I spilled my guts out. That was the big reason Rose and Evie hesitated to share their secrets with me. I didn't mind at all. They're my sisters and best friends. But I'm hiding the biggest secret. I couldn't even share it with my husband. He wouldn't trust me. But I know a person who will listen to me. My body trembled recalling their threats and cold glares at me. I was still in shock that he was part of their dirty plan. Duante trusts him, my husband trusts him, and Evie too. It was quite unbelievable. I still wanted it to be a nightmare. It would break our family. But I could see it was already broken. No one would forgive him. Duante would kill him like his other enemies. Tom wouldn't like it. would we live separately? Would our baby never get to know his uncle, aunt, and siblings?
My heart picked up the race. I was feeling like a weak person in the family. I was trained to shoot but I wasn't any criminal or killer.
I worked on my weight to get the person I loved. I never thought he would love me back. I was always frightened of him picking Rose over me or any other beautiful girl. I was lucky he chose me. Today I was here, carrying his baby but I could also see my dream of a perfect family shattering.
I'm dying to share it with my sisters, but I don't wanna endanger their lives. Evie is two months pregnant and Rose is also expecting. I desperately wanted to shift my pregnancy a few months later. My father-in-law doesn't want me to stay with my family. I was so afraid of him and his lunatic-looking friends. I was so glad that Evie was coming back home. I couldn't dare to share a single word with them. He threatened to kill me and my baby. I disliked my father-in-law but that day he saved me. Otherwise, he would have killed me.
Tears gathered in my eyes. I'm missing them. I haven't talked to Rose and Evie. We didn't talk, but that doesn't mean our sisterhood ended. We are carrying our secrets and we are compelled in our ways.
Rose sent me a message yesterday. She explained little that the person who was looking exactly like her husband was dead. It was a relief but there was more. I couldn't tell Tom anything. He would lose his temper and would do the most expected thing.... confront them. I didn't have any proof against them. it wouldn't take them much time to shut my mouth forever.
According to the guards, I'm sleeping. But I wasn't sleeping properly. I'm worried about my family, particularly Evie. She had faced a lot in the past days because of Duante's memory loss. He was a completely different person but the most dangerous one. I would never be alone with him. But with Evie, he was totally a different person.
I looked down at my shivering hand. I grasped the phone tighter. If I couldn't show courage our family would be destroyed. Evie had made the house a home. I had seen her. She loved her family and could do anything.
I was hell-scared when she lied to Duante that she was pregnant, but we knew the truth. We understand each other more than our mothers. I talked to Tom immediately and requested him to save her.
He convinced the doctor immediately to replace my name with her. It was difficult, the path would be full of nails when you planned to lie to Duante Rego. He always scared me. For my family, I have to do this. Tom might love me but he wouldn't save me if it was his brother in front of me. He respected his father. Would Tom trust me when I told him everything? I wasn't certain. My husband was a different person when it related to our family.
I scrolled down the list. My heart beat triple the time as fear grasped me. With a trembling finger, I tapped on the green icon. I prayed inwardly only for him to answer me. He would understand there was something very essential or I would never call him.
"Hello," His deep voice sent a shiver of fear down my spine.
"I-I need yo-u.... me." I stuttered, babbling. My fear froze my mind. It was dead silence on the other side. I listened to my own breathing and running heart.
Speak up! I have to do this. For our family.
"Please listen." I'm scared of him. He needed to know everything. It's only he who can save us.
"Take a deep breath and tell me." He softened his voice. It wasn't matching the soft tone he used with his wife but it would work. I wanted to text him but anyone could read it. I couldn't put my baby's life in danger. She hasn't opened her eyes in this world yet. A smile appeared on my lips. I found it today. It's a baby girl.
I inhaled deeply, and my eyes darted to the photo frame, resting on the side table. Seeing our pictures together with my family, I felt relaxed. Tom was smiling ear to ear hugging me from behind. Rose is looking at the camera with a soft smile. Evie is looking at her husband with endless love in her eyes for him. Duante is looking at the camera holding no expression. It seemed hard to love such a person who never express. But his hand is resting on his wife's stomach.
"The person who misbehaved with Evie. I saw him. in our home... before coming here." My breathing rang in my ears. I wasn't even certain if he was on the other side of the phone or not. I paused waiting for a hint.
"Nothing to fear." I heard his calm tone again.
"Are you alone?" I asked, hoping he would understand that I couldn't tell this my husband.
"Yes, as you demanded in the message."
It was a relief that he considered me family. Otherwise, I would be running away with my tail between my legs. He's a walking death.
"I don't know where to start."
"From the start."
I glanced at the door. I don't have much time. "I'm going to say the exact words they used."
He hummed. It exhaled another long sigh. I closed my eyes, recalling everything in my head. They looked dangerous. I never thought he would cheat his family.
"She's coming. You have to control your madness. She's trained. This was said by the person we all know."
He hummed. I was glad he wasn't interrogating me as I have heard from my husband. He didn't ask me who the person we all knew was. It could wait for a few seconds.
"I'll kill him. She'll be mine. And her baby... I'll think about him later." I inhaled sharply. " There were three people in the room. I couldn't see his face. His back was on me." I kept my eyes closed.
"You can't kill her baby. Mini is also pregnant. According to the rules of the family, the Firstborn will be the heir." A shiver ran down my spine. I was still breathing because I was pregnant and Tom's wife. Tears slipped down my closed eyes.
"It could be a girl too. Eveleen may be with the heir. The man in the dark called him, Shawn. The same one."
"I got it."
"They want to kill you. Before I could eavesdrop more he saw me and threatened me to keep my mouth shut. Or. They'll kill me." My voice cracked.
"No one is going to lay a finger on you. You have my word. Who's he? It's someone from our trusted people."
"Yes," I said in a shuddering breath. I was scared of mentioning him. It would shatter our family.
"Name, Mini?"
I gulped. I was certain he would protect me. I breathed out his name. The doorknob twisted at the same time. I disconnected the call. Bringing the phone down I deleted the call, ASAP.
"Mini," I felt my heart throbbing but I relaxed immediately after seeing my mother's face. Her smile faded and she scurried forward. She took me in an embrace. "what happened?"
"I had a nightmare, mother. Someone wants to hurt my baby." more tears welled out.
She patted the back of my head, softly. "No one is going to hurt you, sweetie. It's normal in pregnancy." Pulling back, she cupped my cheeks and ran her thumbs under my eyes. "It's just a dream." She told me.
I sighed and nodded. She didn't need to know anything. "Yes, I shouldn't think too much."
