Chapter 79 50

Chapter 79 50

I tapped my knuckles on the door before turning the knob. I peeped in. Duante was sitting behind the table. His tee was clinging to his abs, chest perfectly. He was sitting like a king, leaning forward, his elbows resting on his knees. Some of his friends were standing or some were sitting on the chair. All heads turned to me.

I pulled my eyes from him as I took a step forward. "I need a phone." I asked, looking around the room. I never walked in when he was busy with them. I always gave them privacy.

His gaze landed on me with a frown. " Why?" A look of boredom played on his features.

"I wanna talk to Tom." I said, waiting for him to look at me.

"Go. Rest in your room." He waved his hand in the air dismissing me. He was doing nothing but infuriating me these days.

"Excuse me." I irked.

A deep v formed between his eyes as he glanced at me. "You heard me, Eveleen."

Tears gathered in my eyes hearing him say my name in anger. I wanted to argue. But I also didn't want him to see me crying. I spun on my heels. Instead of walking back to the room, my feet carried out. Assassin followed me without a word.

I wiped my eyes as tears slid down my cheeks. A hand came ahead of me, gripping the phone. I gazed at him raising my wet lashes. He looked back at me blankly.

Life was perfect before the stalker poked his nose in our life. What was my husband thinking? It always puzzled me. I could feel him before seeing him but I couldn't understand him ever. He made everything difficult for me.

My feet halted when he blocked my path. Assassin left immediately. He held his hand out.

My eyes rested on his palm. I plucked it from his palm before he changed his mind or glared at me. "He doesn't know about me."

My jaw slackened in shock. "Are you kidding me? He's your brother. You broke my hand twice for hitting him."

"I know what I'm doing." He gritted his teeth.

"I don't wanna lie to him." I shoved it against his chest. His hand curled around my hand. I felt the pain. My fingers loosened around the phone but it didn't fall. Stupid tears returned instantly. "Duante?" My voice was full of pain. He arched his brows. "I'm pregnant. Can you be nice to me? Or I'll always welcome your suggestion."

His jaw ticked. "I'm nice to you." His eyes narrowed as his grip loosened, but he didn't leave my hand. He grabbed the phone and shoved it in his pocket. His gaze stayed on me.

"I don't know about your memory. But you do know me. You do love you the way I do you. " I tried so that my voice didn't crack. "I can endure anything but not from you. It's not how we have grown our relationship. It's so stressful. I should be happy to see you. I'm speechless to see this side. I... don't know. " I pulled my hand.

"Eveleen," His voice was soft. Thankfully, I could expect softness from him. Though his words were still hurting like daggers in the heart.

"Talk to Tom, Mr Full-of-yourself. You should..." He growled, making me halt.

"You just can't hold your tongue." His hand curled around my elbow as he dragged me to my room.

I waited for the insult but nothing came. He shoved me down in the bed and tucked the blanket up my body. I opened my mouth. He slid next to me removing his shoes. "Don't expect much." He curled his arm around my shoulder guiding my head to his shoulder. I couldn't do anything but stare at him in awe. He began to pat my head, commanding me to sleep.

"This is called Forced." A smile spread across my face.

"Just sleep or pretend. So, I could get back to my work." He stared at me.

I opened my mouth. His eyes narrowed on me in anger. I clamped them together. He guided my head back to his shoulder. His pats were more tender than before. I closed my eyes. I wasn't certain I'd ever get any near him.
