Chapter 103
I couldn't help but start feeling a bit nervous.
How did Luca win again? Didn't Mr. Moretti and the boss work things out?
Seeing the anxiety on my face, Bandel came over to my side and said softly to comfort me, "Don't worry. Gamblers are all like this - you let them win a little first, then they'll keep playing."
I nodded uneasily and kept watching Luca.
Luca seemed to have gone crazy, constantly raising the stakes.
Although I didn't know much about gambling, I knew that each chip on the table was worth about ten thousand.
Adding the money Kane had lost to him earlier, there were over twenty chips in total, and he was pushing them all in.
I blinked in surprise and couldn't help swallowing.
If Luca won this round, Kane would lose a lot of money, right?
Kane had a cigarette in his mouth, looking completely unconcerned.
He followed Luca's lead and pushed all his chips out too. "I'm in a good mood today. Let's play big."
Seeing Kane match his bet, Luca burst out laughing. "Today you're probably going to lose everything, even your life."
Kane looked at Luca, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes.
Who would really lose everything today? That was hard to say.
The casino lighting was dim. I could only hear what was happening on Kane's side, but I couldn't see clearly.
I had no idea how they were flipping their cards, but my heartbeat started to speed up.
The gamblers watching around Luca's side started making noise.
Kane's slender fingers moved lightly over the poker cards and flipped out the last one.
Luca's expression of wild joy froze on his face.
His eyes widened, and his whole body trembled. "Impossible! How is this possible? Did you cheat?"
As he spoke, Luca lunged toward Kane.
But Luca was no match for Kane.
Even without anyone's help, Kane backhanded him with a punch to the face.
Luca's thin body flew backward from the punch and crashed into another gambling table.
Chips scattered everywhere as Luca spat out a mouthful of blood.
Luca was still shaking his head in disbelief. "How is this possible? This can't be! How could I lose?"
Kane walked over to him with a smile, squatted down, and grabbed his dirty hair.
Only then did Luca finally see clearly who was in front of him.
Luca's eyes widened in terror. "Mr. Moretti, how can it be you?"
Kane smiled with murderous intent, his expression full of mockery. "Why can't it be me?"
Luca instinctively looked around. Suddenly, his gaze locked onto my face.
He looked at Kane, then at me, as if understanding something.
He started yelling, "You must have conspired together to set me up! Mr. Moretti, did this little bitch say something bad to you?"
I looked at Kane.
Before Luca could finish speaking, Kane punched him in the face again.
This time, right in the mouth.
Kane flexed his wrist, his eyes ice cold. "If you dare call my wife that again, I'll make sure you wish you were dead."
Luca probably didn't refuse to speak - he just couldn't anymore.
Because he spat out another mouthful of fresh blood, this time with several teeth.
Looking at the yellowed teeth on the ground, I couldn't help feeling sick and gagging.
Bandel immediately handed me a glass of iced lemon water and said with concern, "Have some water, you'll feel better."
I took a sip of the sour, lemon-scented water and indeed felt much better.
I smacked my lips, feeling like this glass of lemon water seemed even more delicious than usual.
Kane snapped his fingers, and the casino owner called over some muscle.
Luca finally realized what was happening. Like a dog, he kept crawling backward. "Please, Mr. Moretti, I didn't do anything."
His words were somewhat unclear, but Kane heard them very clearly.
Kane bent down, stared at him, and said word by word, "You used my wife's mother's ashes to threaten her for money, and you call that doing nothing?"
Kane's face instantly became incredibly cold.
The muscle picked Luca up and casually asked Kane, "Need us to break his arms and legs for you?"
Kane shook his head.
He quickly came to my side, helped me up, and asked quietly, "Can you handle what comes next?"
I looked at Luca's pleading yet resentful eyes and nodded firmly. "I can."
Bandel dragged Luca like a dead dog, ignoring his struggles, and threw him into Kane's car.
He even tied up his hands and feet.
Kane carried me into another car.
He ordered the driver in an icy voice, "To the docks."
Kane usually dealt with traitors within the mafia at the docks.
Going to the docks this time, he was definitely going to take care of Luca, too.
I felt strangely excited, my hands trembling.
After all these years, the humiliation and pain my mother and I had suffered could finally be resolved.
Kane also noticed my emotions were different from usual.
He turned to look at me, grabbed my trembling hands, and asked, "Are you scared? Why don't you go home? I'll handle this."
I immediately shook my head firmly. "I want to see with my own eyes how he dies. I'm not scared - I'm excited."
I didn't care anymore what Kane would think of me and blurted out all my thoughts.
After speaking, I felt a bit regretful. Was I being too vicious?
What would Kane think of me?
But Kane just looked at me and smiled. He pulled me into his arms, gently patting my back. "That's right. This is how a mafia boss's wife should be. Today, you can witness firsthand what happens to the person who bullied you and your mother. However, he bullied you and your mother back then; I'll help you get revenge for all of it."
Kane's words were like a strong harbor, bringing a sense of security to my heart.
I raised my head, looked straight into Kane's eyes, and asked, "Can I do it myself?"
Kane raised an eyebrow, his eyes showing amusement. "Of course, as long as you want to."
Soon, both cars stopped at the dock that belonged exclusively to Kane.
No one could enter except Kane and those he allowed.
When Kane and I walked to the edge of the dock, where waves were crashing, Luca was already being held down on his knees.
Luca was shaking, like a dying rat.
The moment he saw me, hatred flashed in Luca's eyes.
He smiled at Kane ingratiatingly, his tone extremely humble.
"Mr. Moretti, there must be some misunderstanding here. Sonya loves to lie. I used to discipline her and stop her from lying, so I had to scold and hit her sometimes."
I couldn't believe that even at this point, Luca was still slandering me.
Furious, I stepped forward and slapped him without hesitation.
Luca never expected there would be a day when I would slap him.
He almost jumped up to fight back, but fortunately, the person behind him held him down firmly.
I looked at him coldly and asked, "Luca, tell me clearly - who likes to lie?"
