Chapter 90 The Meeting
Chapter 90 The Meeting
The outside of the warehouse was exactly what Alessandro expected.
Empty.
Still.
Too quiet.
The kind of quiet that didn’t belong to abandoned places, but to controlled ones. He already knew his people were ready to go, what he didn't know was what Marco had prepared for him. He had known Marco long enough to know that there was no way he would just give up the baby without a fight.
The car stopped a few meters from the entrance.
No guards in sight.
No visible movement.
That meant nothing.
Alessandro stepped out first.
His eyes moved once across the space, slow and precise, taking in distances, shadows, angles.
Everything looked open.
Nothing was.
He turned.
Isabella stepped out without hesitation.
Her posture was steady, her gaze forward, her pace matching his without needing direction.
They walked in together.
Marco was already there.
Standing in the center of the space, exactly where someone would stand if they believed the room belonged to them.
His attention moved to Isabella first.
Not Alessandro.
Not the men around them.
Her.
Something shifted in his expression.
Small.
Barely visible.
But it was there.
Then it disappeared.
“You came,” he said.
Alessandro didn’t answer.
Because that had never been the question.
Isabella didn’t speak either.
She just looked at him.
There was no hesitation in her eyes.
No fear.
Nothing left of the version of her he remembered controlling.
That was new.
Marco noticed.
Of course he did.
“You shouldn’t have brought her,” he said.
“I didn’t,” Alessandro replied.
Marco’s gaze stayed on Isabella for a moment longer.
“She always made her own decisions.”
Isabella didn’t react.
Not to the tone.
Not to the implication.
She just held his gaze.
And for the first time—
Marco didn’t fully control the moment.
A sound broke the silence.
Soft.
Close.
A baby.
Isabella didn’t turn immediately.
But her breathing changed.
Just slightly.
Alessandro’s eyes shifted toward the entrance.
Outside, a car stood at a distance.
Not hidden.
Not close.
Placed.
The sound came again.
Alive.
Real.
Isabella’s fingers curled at her side.
Not shaking.
Holding.
Alessandro looked back at Marco.
“Bring her.”
Marco didn’t move.
“Not yet.”
His voice stayed calm.
Measured.
“We finish this first.”
That was the condition.
Silence settled again.
Heavier now.
Sharper.
Everything in the room felt closer.
Tighter.
More defined.
“You think this ends here,” Alessandro said.
Not a question.
Marco didn’t answer immediately.
Then—
“Yes.”
Simple.
Certain.
That was the difference between them.
Marco still believed this was something he could control.
“You took something that wasn’t yours,” Alessandro continued.
Marco’s gaze didn’t shift.
“She’s my family.”
That was his answer.
Not defensive.
Not emotional.
Final.
Isabella spoke for the first time.
“You don’t get to decide that anymore.”
Her voice was calm.
Low.
But it cut through everything else in the room.
Marco’s eyes moved to her again.
And this time—
he held the look longer.
“You were always too emotional,” he said.
“You were always too controlling,” she replied.
No hesitation.
No reaction.
Just truth. "This didn't have to happen Marco", she said. "You just didn't want me to be happy with someone that you never even heard his side of the story." and she went on, "I tried telling you many times, many of the things you think he did was not him but your arrogance was too powerful to even consider that you might be wrong".
Marco smiled "Little sis, even now you are so naive, even now you are letting him manipulate you."
Another silence.
This one different.
More unstable.
Like something underneath the surface had started to move.
Alessandro took a step forward.
Not aggressive.
Not rushed.
Deliberate.
“This ends now.”
Marco watched him.
Studied him.
Then—
“It already has.”
That line landed.
Wrong.
Not because of what it meant.
Because of how it sounded.
Too certain.
Too… resolved.
Alessandro felt it.
A shift.
Subtle.
But real.
His eyes moved once across the space again.
Nothing visible.
Still—
something didn’t align.
Then—
footsteps.
Behind them.
Not from outside.
From inside the warehouse.
Slow.
Unhurried.
Unannounced.
No one turned immediately.
Because they didn’t need to.
The air changed first.
Then the space.
Then the moment.
Marco’s gaze moved past Alessandro.
Not surprised.
Not confused.
Acknowledging.
Alessandro turned.
Slowly.
And saw him.
Vitale stepped into the open space like he had always been part of it. Like he owned the place, like he owned the entire meeting..
No rush.
No tension.
Just presence.
And in that moment—
everything changed.
