Chapter 217
Chapter 217
Hearing this, Zander couldn't help but curse, "Matthew, are you deliberately humiliating me!"
But Zander had already promised Elise today that he'd allow Matthew to visit Atticus. No matter how angry he was, he couldn't go to the hospital and yell at Matthew!
But what did Matthew mean by bringing flowers?
"Waiter, bring me drinks!" The frustrated Zander shouted loudly at the bar counter.
The waiter quickly brought over six bottles, "open them all for me!"
"Yes, Mr. Lawson!"
The waiter opened all six bottles, and Zander grabbed one and chugged it down.
At the hospital, Matthew walked into the ward carrying a bag of snacks and holding a bouquet of roses.
Elise was wiping Atticus's face. Matthew immediately spotted the snacks on the bedside table and knew who had been there.
Matthew placed his bag of snacks on top of Zander's bag and put the roses in a vase, "how are you feeling today, Atticus?"
Matthew examined Atticus carefully and noticed his complexion was much better than last night—not as pale and gray.
Atticus was a bit surprised and answered, "I don't feel as sick anymore!"
Matthew showed a gentle smile and stood next to Elise, deliberately moving close to her. Elise's face showed a hint of shyness, "that's good! I bought lots of snacks. Whatever you want to eat, I'll get it for you!"
Atticus's eyes lit up as he looked at the snacks on the cabinet and said with a smile, "my dad already bought me a lot. Mr. Moore, you should give them to other kids!"
Matthew shook his head, "the snacks he bought aren't as good as mine! Other kids have already received my snacks—you're the only one left! If you don't believe my snacks are better than Zander's, try them and see!"
Elise looked at Matthew with displeasure, "Mr. Moore, watch what you say!"
Matthew showed no sign of backing down. Instead, he smiled and asked Elise, "isn't what I'm saying true?"
Elise bit her lip and glared at Matthew, but he acted like he didn't see it.
He took out his own snacks, opened the package, and held it to Atticus's mouth, "try it!"
Atticus obediently opened his mouth and took a bite of Matthew's snack.
"How is it?" Matthew asked eagerly.
Atticus nodded with a smile, "it's good!"
Matthew raised his eyebrows at Elise triumphantly, clearly showing off, "see, I told you mine are better!"
He looked at Atticus gently again, "tell me, if I were your dad, would I be good enough?"
Elise frowned and coughed twice to warn Matthew.
But Matthew acted like he didn't hear it.
Atticus ate the snacks while honestly answering, "but I already have a dad!"
Matthew said meaningfully, "you can have two dads—one you call dad out loud, and one you keep in your heart. You can just think of me as your dad in your heart!"
Atticus's eyes widened, finding Matthew's idea very novel, "is that okay?"
Matthew's words carried undeniable force, "of course it's okay! If I say it's okay, then it's okay! This is between the two of us—we don't need a third person's approval!"
Atticus couldn't help but turn to look at Elise, wanting her opinion.
Elise said to Atticus, "you keep eating your snacks. Mom needs to talk to Mr. Moore about something outside!"
With that, Elise pulled Matthew to the balcony at the end of the hallway and looked at him with displeasure, "Mr. Moore, we had an agreement. Why are you breaking it? If you keep this up, I'll have to refuse to let you visit Atticus anymore!"
Matthew looked directly at Elise, his gaze carrying strong pressure that made Elise's heart pound and her face flush, "I didn't say he's my son. How is that breaking our agreement?"
Elise said, "but you can't tell him you'll be his other dad. That way, he'll..."
Elise couldn't quite figure out how to explain this to Matthew.
Matthew's voice was low, "does Atticus never get to acknowledge me as his real father?"
Elise shook her head in frustration, "I don't care about later—I only care about now! He can't acknowledge you right now!"
Matthew suddenly pressed his hands on Elise's shoulders, pinning her against the wall. Elise's breathing suddenly quickened, her chest heaving dramatically, revealing her deep cleavage.
"Is that really what you think?" Matthew's gaze was sharp as a knife.
Elise's eyes darted away, her voice trembling, "I... yes... yes!"
"Why?" Matthew said slowly.
Elise replied, "because I'm going to marry Zander. Zander has always treated Atticus like his own son, and his parents really like Atticus too. The Lawson family has been very good to me. I'm begging you not to disturb us anymore, okay?"
Matthew pulled the corner of his mouth in a domineering and confident way, completely dismissive of Elise's words, "you won't be happy marrying Zander! You'll only be happy if you come back to me!"
Elise pouted her lips and huffed in defiance, "Mr. Moore, aren't you being too full of yourself? Are you saying no woman in the world can be happy without you?"
A trace of tenderness appeared in Matthew's eyes, "I don't care about other women. I only want you to be happy!"
Elise froze. These words sounded so sweet—how many women would cry hearing them!
However, the gratitude only flashed by. Soon Elise's face showed disdain, and she snorted coldly, "these sweet words—you don't just say them to me, you say them to Mia all the time too, right!"
Matthew's face showed a trace of embarrassment. Elise really didn't know how to talk!
"Please don't mention Mia in front of me anymore, okay?"
Elise's eyes became sharp, and she stared at Matthew with a playful look for a while.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Matthew blinked and asked.
The smile at the corner of Elise's mouth carried sarcasm, "mentioning Mia hit a nerve, didn't it? Mr. Moore, what I hate most is people who can't make up their minds. That's how you treated me before, and I won't fall for your tricks again!"
Elise pushed Matthew away and turned to leave. Matthew suddenly yanked her back, pressed her against the wall again, and kissed her pink lips hard.
Elise struggled desperately, but it was useless.
Matthew's hands reached inside her clothes, wandering freely, teasing every sensitive spot on her body.
Elise felt like she was about to give in, and sweat broke out on her forehead in panic.
Why was it that every time Matthew kissed her, she resisted on the surface, but deep in her soul she longed to kiss him?
Was it just because Matthew was a master at romance, good at kissing?
Just as she was about to enjoy it for two seconds, Matthew suddenly let her go, licked his lips victoriously, his eyes full of mockery, "you enjoyed that, didn't you?"
Elise's face turned red with shame and anger, "you bastard!"
She raised her hand and slapped Matthew across the face, but then pulled her hand back as if electrocuted, her face full of surprise.
Matthew hadn't dodged!
Oh my god, she had just hit the head of Emerald City's most powerful family?
Matthew's pupils contracted, his gaze electric. He never expected Elise would actually hit him!
"I'm sorry, that was instinctive!" Elise quickly apologized.
"You dare hit me?" Matthew was like a beast ready to pounce.
Elise shrank back, looking at Matthew timidly, "I told you, it was instinctive!"
