Chapter 204

Chapter 204

Elise said, "Sophia, if you were me, what would you decide?"

"Me?" Sophia smiled slightly, her brow still furrowed, "I've never been in this situation. How would I choose?"

Elise's tone was heavy, "Everyone wants a good life, right? People who want to suffer are idiots!"

Sophia thought about her words for a moment.

Before she could figure it out, Elise stood up, holding her bag with both hands, "Sophia, I need to go now. Thanks for coming out to talk with me about the past."

Sophia quickly stood up too, "What are you saying? We're best friends! Don't say such distant things again! From now on, we should meet often. Who knows, maybe you'll gradually remember!"

The past memories weren't that important to Elise anymore!

Elise looked at Sophia for a moment, then suddenly smiled and opened her arms, "Sophia, let's hug! Even though I don't remember before, you're definitely the real deal as my best friend!"

"Okay!" Sophia happily hugged Elise, neither wanting to let go for a long time.

Back at the Lawson Villa, the Parker couple and Zander were all sitting on the sofa, as if they had something to discuss with her.

"Where's Atticus?" Elise asked.

Della said, "I've already sent a servant to pick him up from kindergarten. He should be on the way!"

"Elise, sit down. Dad has something to tell you!" Parker patted the sofa next to him, his tone gentle.

Elise sat down, puzzled, "Dad, what is it?"

Parker glanced at Zander, "Here's the thing. I'm planning to open a branch office in Everglade City. We don't have the right person to go there and run things yet. I want you and Zander to go. First, you two can manage things there. Second, you're getting married soon, so spending more time together is good for you both. What do you think?"

Parker held Elise's hand, looking at her earnestly.

Elise could tell that Parker was doing this because he didn't want her to go back to being Amelia!

Even if Parker hadn't made this decision, Elise wanted to leave Emerald City anyway.

As long as she stayed in Emerald City, she would definitely have to deal with Matthew!

She didn't want to see Matthew anymore!

So Elise nodded, "Dad, I'll listen to you!"

Parker and Zander showed surprised and delighted expressions. They never expected Elise to answer so decisively!

They thought Elise would struggle with the Amelia identity!

"Good. Zander, have someone book tickets tomorrow. The sooner we get to Everglade City, the better for our business!" Parker instructed Zander.

"I got it, Dad!" Zander said happily, a weight lifting from his heart.

Every extra day in Emerald City made him worry something might go wrong!

Even though Elise was by his side now, Matthew showed such strong aggression that he had no confidence he could keep Elise by his side in front of Matthew!

"Dad," Elise said emotionally, "before we leave, I want to give my real father some money. Is that okay?"

"Yes! Of course!" Parker didn't hesitate. He took out a bank card from his pocket, "There's eighty million dollars in here. Give it all to him!"

Parker was worried that Elise might be angry at the Lawson family for hiding her past and leave them to return to the Martinez family!

Parker genuinely liked Elise and treated her as his own daughter, so he wouldn't blink an eye at giving Zane any amount of money.

Elise didn't hold back and took the bank card, "Thank you, Dad!"

The next day, Elise drove to the Martinez Villa gate. Zane was just coming back from a walk. When he suddenly looked up and saw Elise, he was in a daze, frozen in place.

"Dad!" Elise took the initiative to greet him, grabbing Zane's hand with tears in her eyes.

Zane sighed and said coldly, "Ms. Sinclair, I told you, you're not my daughter Amelia. You two look very similar, but my daughter's temperament and your temperament..."

His words stopped abruptly because Elise was already crying.

"Ms. Sinclair, why are you crying?" Zane's heart ached like needles pricking it.

"Dad, I don't know why you won't recognize me, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm your daughter!" Elise choked up, "I don't remember what happened three years ago, but you'll always be my dad, my real dad!"

Zane finally couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears streaming down his face, he pulled Elise into his arms, "Amelia, my daughter!"

They cried together for a long time. Zane led Elise into the living room and talked with her about the past.

"Dad, why didn't you recognize me before? Were you angry at me?" Elise asked tearfully.

Zane was silent for a moment, waved his hand, and asked Elise instead, "Amelia, now that you're sure you're my daughter, what are you going to do next? Break off the engagement with Zander and get back together with Matthew?"

Elise shook her head, "The Lawson family has been very good to me. I can't let them down! Dad, don't you want me to have a good life with the Lawson family?"

"Of course I want you to have a good life, that goes without saying!" Zane said, "But what about Matthew?"

Elise's eyes flashed with Matthew's cold face, and the corners of her mouth twitched painfully, "Matthew is in the past. I want to start a new life!"

"Good, good!" Zane felt relieved.

He was actually quite conflicted. On one hand, he hoped Elise would reclaim her former identity. On the other hand, he didn't want her to break things off with Zander!

He knew what kind of life Elise had with Matthew before!

Elise took out the bank card from her bag and pressed it into Zane's hand.

"What's this..." Zane asked, confused.

"I'm going to Everglade City to run the Lawson family business, so I can't come to Emerald City to see you every day. Take this money. I can never repay you for raising me!" Elise said in a hoarse voice.

Zane quickly pushed the bank card back into Elise's hand, "Dad doesn't need money! The money from selling the company is enough for me to live until I'm ninety-nine!"

Elise insisted, "Dad, if you don't take it, I'll live in guilt every day! These past three years, you must have sacrificed a lot to find me and cried many times. As a daughter, I can't be there for you, and I've burdened you so much. My heart hurts!"

After pushing it back and forth for a while, Zane couldn't resist Elise and accepted the bank card.

That evening, Elise and Zander came to the airport. The Parker couple brought Atticus to see them off.

Elise picked up Atticus, reluctant to part, "Once Mom gets settled there, I'll come get you! If you miss Mom, call me, okay?"

Atticus asked, confused, "Didn't we just move to Emerald City? Why are you moving to Everglade City again?"

Elise glanced at Zander and smiled, "Mom has no choice. For business, we have to move around!"

Only then did Atticus nod in understanding, "Okay, if you miss Atticus, you have to call me too!"

Zander came over and stroked Atticus's hair, "Be good at kindergarten!"

Atticus nodded, "Dad, I know!"

In the distance, Matthew appeared at the airport. He was seeing off a client tonight.

His eyes suddenly caught sight of Elise and the Lawson family. Finally, his gaze landed on Atticus's face, and his heart suddenly jumped. A sense of familiarity arose.

"Mr. Moore, that kid..." Chris looked at Matthew in shock, then at Atticus. They looked like they were carved from the same mold, "He looks so much like you!"
