Chapter 193
"Stop pretending!" Matthew's gaze was sharp as needles, making Zander uncomfortable all over, "Elise is my wife Amelia, and Amelia is Elise!"
"If the Lawson family has any conscience left, let me get back together with my wife right now! Otherwise, I'll make the Lawson family go bankrupt!"
Zander sneered.
"The Moore family used to do whatever you wanted in Emerald City, but times have changed! Now that the Lawson family is here, the Moore family needs to back off!"
"Besides, Nolan is dead, and those resources died with him. Matthew, what do you have to fight me with!"
"Even if I tell you that Elise is Amelia, so what? Can you take her back? Will Elise return to you?"
Matthew spoke with conviction, "Amelia will come back to me! I won't let her slip away from me again!"
Looking at Matthew's determined eyes, Zander's eyes turned red.
"Damn you!"
Zander suddenly threw a punch through the car window, hitting Matthew in the face.
Matthew reacted quickly and grabbed Zander's hand at once.
"In Emerald City, no one dares to touch me!"
Matthew pressed the button, and the window kept rolling up, trapping Zander's hand.
Zander screamed, "Let go of my hand!"
Matthew remained unmoved and kept pressing the button.
"If my hand breaks, I'll make sure you never see Elise again!" Zander shouted.
Matthew immediately released his hand, his eyes shooting a deadly stare.
"Amelia is my wife. I can see her whenever I want, I don't need your permission! If you dare do anything to Amelia, I'll make you pay dearly!"
With that, Matthew released Zander's hand, and Zander quickly pulled it back.
"You just wait!" Zander ran back to his car, slammed on the gas, and drove toward Matthew.
Matthew's pupils contracted. Was Zander trying to take them both down?
Zander's car scraped past the front of Matthew's car, creating sparks, then sped away.
Matthew looked at the front of his car—there was a serious dent.
But he didn't care.
He got out of the car, walked into the company, and came to the front desk.
"Is Ms. Sinclair here?"
The receptionist shook her head, "Ms. Sinclair didn't come to the company today!"
Matthew's face darkened.
"Where did she go?"
The receptionist shook her head, "Not sure! I only heard Mr. Lawson say that from now on, he'll handle all the Lawson Group's business in Emerald City!"
Matthew had a bad feeling. If Zander forcibly took Elise away from Emerald City, he would never see Elise again.
Back in his car, Matthew quickly sent Elise a message.
Matthew: [Ms. Sinclair, are you still in Emerald City?]
Elise replied casually.
Elise: [Yes, I've been at the office working!]
Matthew frowned.
Matthew: [Stop lying to me. I'm at your company right now! Where did you go?]
Elise even tried to ease Matthew's worries, sending a smiling emoji.
Elise: [Why did you come to my company looking for me?]
Matthew: [Answer me, are you in Emerald City right now?]
After a long time, Elise finally responded.
Elise: [Yes! But, Mr. Moore, please don't come looking for me anymore. Our connection only lasts these few days!]
Matthew's heart felt blocked, hurting terribly.
Matthew: [You're my wife. The fact that fate let me see you again means our connection isn't over!]
Elise: [Mr. Moore, I'm Elise, not your wife!]
Matthew: [From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were Amelia! Even if you don't remember anything, you're still my wife! I'll help you recover your memories slowly!]
Tears welled up in Elise's eyes. She bit her lip and hardened her heart.
Elise: [I'm already engaged to Zander, and we'll be married soon! Please, Mr. Moore, don't disturb us anymore! I love Zander, and Zander loves me!]
Matthew's jawline tightened as he controlled his sad emotions.
Matthew: [You've just lost your memory. Once you recover it, you won't love Zander anymore!]
However, Elise didn't reply again.
Matthew tried to send a voice message but found that she had blocked him!
"Damn it!" Matthew hit the steering wheel hard.
Suddenly, his eyes turned red and bright. He slammed on the gas and headed straight for Elise's villa.
Elise kept banging on the door. She knew Zander had gone to work at this time and wouldn't be back until evening, so she wanted to take this chance to go out for a walk.
She had no intention of leaving the villa, just wanted to walk around.
Soon, a servant heard the banging and came upstairs.
"Ms. Sinclair, what are you doing?" the servant asked through the door.
Elise said, "Did Mr. Lawson go to work?"
"Yes, Ms. Sinclair!" the servant answered.
"Open the door. I want to go out for a walk and get some fresh air!" Elise said in a pleading tone.
However, the servant said awkwardly, "Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Lawson ordered that no one can let you out! Besides, we don't have the key!"
Just then, the sound of a car roaring came from the main entrance, and they heard a servant downstairs questioning, "Who are you? What do you want?"
Matthew's voice rang out firmly, "Where is Elise?"
"She's not here, you..."
Then came the servant's scream, and Elise's heart pounded.
Soon, she heard Matthew's strong footsteps coming to the door.
"You are..." the servant outside asked in surprise.
"The key?" Matthew held out his hand to the servant.
The servant shook her head, "The key is with Mr. Lawson!"
"Get out of the way!"
Matthew pushed the servant aside, picked up a chair, and smashed it hard against the lock.
After a few hits, the iron lock broke open. Matthew pushed the door open forcefully and saw Elise standing in the middle of the room, staring at him at a loss.
"Come with me!" Matthew grabbed Elise's wrist and turned to leave.
"Where to?" Elise walked outside involuntarily.
Matthew didn't speak, his eyes cold.
Several servants stood in front with brooms.
"You can't take Ms. Sinclair away!"
Matthew said coldly, "Anyone who doesn't want to get beaten, get out of my way!"
One servant recklessly raised a broom and swung it at Matthew. Matthew dodged and punched the servant in the face.
Seeing this, the other servants didn't dare block the way anymore and stepped aside, letting Matthew take Elise away.
Before they reached the yard, Zander's car suddenly drove in.
"Matthew, what are you doing? Kidnapping someone in broad daylight? Let go of Elise!"
Zander jumped out of the car and blocked Matthew's way.
Matthew threw a hard punch. Before Elise could say "don't," Zander took a heavy hit.
"I told you, don't let Amelia suffer!" Matthew roared.
Zander covered his face and shouted, "Elise is mine, let her go!"
"She's mine. Her name is Amelia, you hear me?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Matthew quickly brought Elise to his car, slammed on the gas, and left the villa.
Zander covered his face and chased after them.
"Matthew, let Elise go!"
However, Matthew's car quickly disappeared from his sight.
"What a bandit!"
Matthew's car sped down the road. Elise stared at him without blinking.
"Mr. Moore, where are you taking me?"
Matthew's eyes looked straight ahead, expressionless, but his voice was gentle.
"I'm taking you home!"
